Amsterdam Canal Bus Hop-On Hop-Off

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Getting around Amsterdam is a breeze with a hop-on hop-off Canal Bus Day Pass. The boats operate a regular service along Amsterdam's canals, following three routes: the Green Line, Red Line and Blue Line. While you cruise, an on-board commentary provides interesting information about Amsterdam.

You have the choice of a 24 hour or a 48 hour pass. Hop-on or off as often as you like at 14 stops located near Amsterdam's major museums, attractions and shopping centers.

Do you want to skip the long lines at Heineken Experience or Van Gogh Museum?

Amsterdam Canal Bus Hop-On Hop-Off offers optional upgrades to include skip the line access to the Heineken Experience or Van Gogh Museum. Go to the front of the queue at these top-selling Amsterdam museums without having to wait in line.

In addition to the city's buildings and canals, Amsterdam has been an important center for European arts since the 17th century, and its museums are among the best in the world. In the Van Gogh Museum, you'll find the largest collection of the artist's paintings. And the Heineken Experience is an interactive tour of the city's most well-known brewery. You'll even be able to brew your own beer!

This was a nice way to spend the day. Stay on and just enjoy the scenery or get off and visit the sites. It was a little confusing as to where to get on but a friendly shop keeper helped us.

First bus didn't stop. The next day the scheduled bus didn't appear. Either it was cancelled or just went past, we don't know. Could have and should have been much better.

canal bus hours are very seldom, walking on foot or the trams are recommended.Maybe a 1 hour canal cruise should be a better option in order to see the city from that perspective, but hop on hop off,as means of transportation, is not necessary.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

This is the best way to see Amsterdam. The boats do not run as advertised,at times it could be an hour or more between trips. You need to check the times. I lost a connection because a boat was late.

A great way to avoid the traffic on the hop-on-hop-off bus as you don't have to wait for lights etc on the canal bus. However the boats only come around every half an hour and it was fun trying to find a spot to exchange our voucher for this tour.

As it turns out the 24 hour pass that I bought was only useful until 5:00 p.m. when the service ended for the day._br/_ THAT INFORMATION WOULD HAVE BEEN USEFUL TO KNOW PRIOR TO 5:00 P.M. BECAUSE (1) I FOUND MYSELF A LONG WAY FROM THE TRAIN STATION IN A CITY I HAD NEVER BEEN IN BEFORE AND HAD TO FIGURE OUT A DIFFERENT MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION TO GET THERE, (2) I HAD INTENDED TO RIDE THE SERVICE FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS INTO THE EVENING AND (3) IT ISN'T LIKELY THAT I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE PASS HAD I KNOWN THAT I WOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT FOR 2 OR 3 HOURS.

This was a good way to get around Ansterdam. However, sometimes we were left waiting for canal buses that didn't turn up. Still an interesting experience.

Such an easy way to get around the city. We booked a 2 day pass and used it to go everywhere. Note: If you like Chinese food, make sure to take the red line to the Sea Palace a huge pagoda-like restaurant in the middle of the river. The food was excellent and it was really fun to be dropped off and picked up right at the door.

It was nice going on a canal cruise, if you're taking photos, the windows are usually not clean so try to ask them to open the canopy for clear shots.

This was great way to relax after a long plane trip from Australia (27 hours). We saw plenty and guides were informative and helpful - unfortunately one of the boats broke down and we had to find our own way back to our hotel but it was all good fun.

Cruising through canal is a remarkable way to see the beauty of Amsterdam. But the limitation with this package is that the canal bus hop-on and off service finishes well before dusk, and one remains unable to see Amsterdam with lights on.

We made our way to Central Station to board the canal bus. It was very busy and large queue gathered because canal bus was not running to timetable. Unfortunately there was no organization for queuing system which allowed people to jump the queue which was very frustrating for those of us that had been waiting nearly an hour. Once on the canal bus however the trip was very enjoyable and the commentary very informative - if they could sort the boarding system I would have rated higher.

Sailing in the Canals was a wonderful experience! It was comfortable and warm on board, while it was snowing and freezing outside! The recorded guiding information was really helpful and I've had the chance to take some really nice snapshots. It did save me time as well as being convenient. When in Amsterdam, you have to try it!
