Delft, The Hague and Madurodam Half-Day Trip from Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Take a fascinating afternoon tour to see Holland in a Nutshell at Madurodam, shop for a famous blue pottery at Delft and go for a drive through the former capital, The Hague.

Your scenic guided tour starts with a visit to the picturesque town of Delft to tour Delftse Pauw, one of the famous Delft blue potteries. The blue-and-white pottery became famous as a 17th-century duplicate of Chinese porcelain.

From Delft you will continue your journey to The Hague, former capital of the Netherlands, passing such famous sites as the Houses of Parliament, Peace Palace and the Binnenhof.

Next you will visit the famous miniature town of Madurodam, Holland in a Nutshell. The canal houses of Amsterdam, the Alkmaar cheese market and parts of the Delta Works are all replicated in minute detail on a 1:25 scale. Windmills turn, ships sail through the harbor and trains travel across the city on the world's largest miniature railway.

On the way back to Amsterdam you will pass the seaside resort of Scheveningen, with its beautiful beaches.

Our booking for this tour was not on the register for 17th October 2011 .... it was booked for 17th August 2011 !!!!!!! .... that was the date I booked and paid this tour before we left for Europe. Luckily, we had 2 days in Amsterdam and were able to go on 18th October. However, this meant we changing our Hop-On Hop-off Van Gogh Pass to 17th October, which we could not start until 3.00pm. The tour itself was excellent but the mess-up was extremely disappointing.

This was our first tour when we arrived. We liked it very much. The items were too expensive to purchase though.

We did this mainly to see the model village and some of the sights on the way. We felt it stopped too long at the pottery and we only had 55 minutes at the village whereas we needed more time there.

This was very interesting. I really enjoyed the porcelain factory in Delft. Madurodam was too chilly to actually enjoy very much, though. However, that wasn't the fault of the tour company. The guide, Derrick, was very pleasant and helpful.

We enjoyed this trip. Comfortable bus, great guide and good content. My only disappointment was that there was not enough time to see all of Madurodam. That was a very worthwhile visit.

Trip was good and well conducted. Madurodam was excellent. The only fault was bus being 15 minutes late

We loved this tour except for one thing. I was really looking forward to visiting the old part of Delft. Basically, this was a trip to the Delft factory on the outskirts of Delft. We did not even drive through the town. I would add a trip to the town, or drop this. The guide said buses could not go into town. However, a few days later, our River Cruise took a bus load to Delft. Although the short demo of the Delft technique was interesting, I felt we just went there to buy from this factory. The Hague and Madurodam were well worth the trip. I have done about 10 things with Viator, and this is the only one I have been disappointed in.

A nice tour! Not exactly if you are looking to visit Amsterdam only but good if you are looking to visit nice Madurodam which is outside Amsterdam. Its a beautiful place and its one of its own kind!

Very good but we needed more time at Madurodam as we had less than an hour there. We were told that the site was due to close as we left, but another coach unloaded and went in as we left. Otherwise the tour was great!

A really pleasant experience. The visit to the Delft pottery is very interesting. Much to my delight, I have bought yet another piece of genuine Delft. We have been on this trip before, but you always learn something new.

Lovely it, especially my mother have knees problem would prefer walk less and see more thing. One thing I will like the tour to improve is spend more time in Madurodam because 1 hour is not really enough. Thanks.

I was disappointed that no stops were made for pictures in The Hague and at the seashore. The time in Madurodam was interesting and I learned more information about World War II in the Netherlands, a period of time I am interested in not only in the Netherlands but throughout the world.

I have taken a lot of tours with Viator, but this one is one to pass on. The stop in Delft at the factory was good, but very short. We did not even stop in The Hague, just drove through the city. Madurodam was interesting, but not a must see.

The tour was great, the tour guide was very knowledgeable. The only down side was there was not enough time to see it all. 45 minutes per stop is not enough time to enjoy the sites.

We liked our guide on this one. He spoke much better English than our first guide. However, we learned a lesson on this tour. The Delft was neat, it was nice to see, but it was extremely expensive. The Hague was a pass through. I had an impression that we would have stopped, or paused, or walked through rather than drive by it since that was what the tour was called. The Madurodam was the best part. It was really neat to see all of the 1:25 scale pieces of Holland.
