Delphi Day Trip from Athens

Athens, Greece

Explore one of the most famous sites of classical Greece on a day trip from Athens to magical Delphi. Famous for its theater, Temple of Apollo and ancient ruins, Delphi was considered the center of the earth and the universe, and played a central role in the classical Greek world.

After taking a scenic drive through Levadia and Arachova (famous for its bright multi-colored carpets), you'll arrive in Delphi at around noon. During your visit to Delphi you'll tour the archaeological site and its museum of treasures, including the unique bronze Charioteer, and proceed along the Sacred Way to the Athenian Treasury.

After an optional lunch at a hotel, you'll visit the famous Temple of Apollo and the Castalia Spring, before returning to Athens with another stop at Levadia en route.

Long ride 3 hours each way but fantastic sight once you get there. Well worth the trip. Great guide with lots of interesting facts and nice quick stops for snack and bathroom breaks. Lunch and the view were wonderful.

Our trip to Delphi was excellent. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and expressed herself clearly and with a sense of humor. We came away with a solid sense of the importance of this temple, how the oracle explained the future, and a real appreciation for this ancient site.

I enjoyed the pace of the tour. Learned a lot from the tour guide that I would else wise not know about Delphi and Greece.

An excellent day trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable...almost too much so as her commentary spent more time than necessary on certain parts,to the exclusion of some of getting further along in the ruins. Would definitely recommend to travelers who would rather get out of the city and see more of Greece on a short trip. I would visit this site again.

The place was beautiful and so worth it. But the guide wasn't that great. she could have made it more interesting with information and stories. There was another tour operator (couldn't get the name) who was there at the same time and their guide was very good. At some points I found myself gravitating to their group.

Very knowledgable tour guide and breath taking views. To anyone contemplating the lunch option, I would reccommend going out on your own and exploring the small town. Food is cheaper, still great and you can do some exploring on your own.

This was one of the BEST excursions we've ever done -- and we've done a bunch! The service was perfect, despite all the havoc in Athens streets. Our Greek guide Joy was wonderful. She is extremely good at explaining Greek art, history, mythology and customs, and helpful to us Americans trying to make sense out of the current political situation in Greece. All in all, a perfect day!

Good chilled out journey to Delphi. Its quite far but i enjoyed the company of the people who joined the trip. Lunch at hotel Amalia is a very good place to unwind after the long journey. Maybe worth a stay over the evening as the view is stunning.

The tour to Delpi was very good. It is a long ride for a couple hours of touring; but the touring was very intiguing. The tour guide was very informational. In 9 days we had experience 7 or 8 excursions. I would rank her in the bottom half for personality and flair and in the top half on information. The lunch was average.

this tour is well worth doing but our guide didn't seem too interested! she spoke the entire way from athens on the bus but as soon as we arrived in delphi she told us about the temple of apollo and then she then sent us on our way to the ancient running track and said she'd meet us in 30 mins at the museum!!!! don't think she wanted to walk up the hill! maybe she was having a bad day .... but we paid for a whole day guided tour!

The Delphi Day Trip was amazing! It's an all-day trip so go prepared, i.e. proper walking shoes, camera, etc. Our guide, Giorgios, was quite knowledgable and answered every question I had with ease. He also spoke like 5 different languages as well! He gave the group much history on the ruins and on overall Greek culture/lifestyle. I later found out through the gameshow "Jeopardy" upon my return home, that Delphi was once the center of Western civilization! I highly recommend this trip. "Efkaristo" (Thanks) to everyone in Greece!

the hike to the top to see the stadium was well worth it. Although the guide said it wss a 10-15 minute hike it could about 30 mins each way. Some of us are not that young lol. The history behind this was amazing.

Delphi was amazing and well worth the trip. The tour company was organized and lunch was good. I felt that our tour guide was too verbose, however, and didn't give us enough free time to explore the area on our own. We we only had 20 minutes of free time. She also spent a lot of time in the museum, it was just too much information to absorb.

Long day, only 1 stop at Delphi to see the ruins and the museum. Would have liked more free time at the ruins and museum. The guide talked us through everything but did not give anytime for free time. We opted not to have lunch and spend time in the city of Delphi which was nice. Drove back the same way as we drove up so didn't see anything new. If you can you are better off going to Delphi on your own as the ruins and museum entrance only costs €9 compared to €89 that they charge for this tour.

The tour was okay. It was a long trip for very little time at the site and musuem. Some of the other Delphi travel tours had stops at the small towns near the Delphi site. I was disappointed that this tour didn't stop to see a greece town out in the country. The tour guide was good. The tour lunch was at a hotel near the town, so we walked to a restaurant within town to eat lunch, which was nice to get a break from the tour group.

In spite of pouring rain, our trip to Delphi was great. We could not have asked for a better tour guide: she was very knowledgeable and articulate, and because of the weather, she demonstrated her flexibility. The hotel pickup and drop off worked very well, too. Will definitely use CHAT and Viatour again.

Well worth the time and money. We only had one extra day in Athens and I decided on Delphi over Corinth/Mycenae on the advice of several friends who had been to both. Our guide was fantastic and provided a lot of information in an enjoyable format. The site, and particularly the museum, were crowded due to the cruise ship groups but she made the best of it. My only suggestion would be to do the museum first when the cruise ship tours are there as the museum is VERY small and it got quite crowded.

The tour was fantastic, mostly thanks to the wonderful guide we had (unfortunately I can't remember her name). She not only explained what we were seeing when we arrived in Delphi, but gave us fantastic background on the bus trip too - including very interesting ancient Greek myths and legends.

The pickup service was good and the guide was very good. The stopping point going to and from had no healthy options. The lunch was in a pleasant hotel Amelia location near Delphi and the food and servers did there best to please everyone but it seemed very complicated with paid and unpaid customers and vegan options and regular options. I am vegan and seems as soon as you take out meat, dairy, eggs then they serve me pasta which I don't eat that either. I think it may simplify things to have a small buffet line or have special diets preorder off a menu and pay direct at the cafe. I would have done the later if I knew it was an option.

The day trip from Athens to Delphi was very informative thanks to our guide. He was very knowledgeable about the area. There is so much to see and he was able to point us to the important items. The one disappointing thing about the trip is that the bus we used was dirty and had food stuck between the seat tray and the seat rendering the tray unuseable. I wish we had more time to explore some of the small towns we drove through but with a travel time of 3 hours each way, I understand why we didn't stop.

The trip was very well organized. The bus was at the hotel on time (actually early) and it was a very enjoyable bus ride to Delphi. We stopped for coffee etc at a very clean bus stop._br/_ Tour was conducted very well. We had a clear understanding of where to meet after walking on our thru the ruins. Museum tour was great and our guide provided us with plenty of history regarding the site._br/_ Lunch was also terrific. The hotel was wonderful, service was great and our meal was excellent._br/_ It was a great day and I really enjoyed the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wishing to go to Delphi

Our guide was fantastic. She was so interesting and obviously was very knowledgeable about her subject. She had a good sense of humour and was interested in her group as people. She went out of her way to accommodate our wishes, making an unscheduled stop at a little village when we requested it. The lunch was adequate. Definitely worth the money, with the Delphi site unbelievable!

We had a very good day! We didn't have a good guide book so taking the tour was especially good. The coach trip was made more enjoyable by the bits of information that the guide gave to us about general statistics about Greece. He repeated key things as well so that it was easier to take all of the information in. Personally, I wasn't thrilled by the lunch that was an option. It fit in better with the tour because it was only an hour but I didn't feel that it was particularly a very "Greek" meal. An excellent company! It was nice to be collected from the hotel and the driver was extremely good and we felt very safe.

The drive from Athens to Delphi was really cool, it was nice to be out of the city. The mountains are amazing and our bus driver did a terrific job navigating. The ruins were spectacular. We didn't get to go to the museum because of the national strike in Athens that day but our guide took us to an 11th century monastery instead and that was incredible! The guide really knew what she was talking about both at Delphi and the monastery. It was really an awesome day! The lunch at the hotel was really nice, too. We loved it!
