Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and travel to the famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Sit back, relax and enjoy the picturesque scenery as your coach travels through the rich farmland of the Waikato region

Wander through the long galleries and lofty chambers of the Glowworm Caves as your guide provides commentary and points out all the highlights and best photo opportunities. Then, board a boat for a short ride down the river and into the Glowworm Grotto, where you will marvel at the illumination emitted by the glow worms suspended from the ceiling. Each tiny strand is a living glowworm that gives off light.

After your tour enjoy a buffet lunch (if option selected) or spend some time in the visitor center before returning to Auckland in the afternoon.

The tour operator left messages for us at our hotel noting the pickup time. The operator/driver of the tour was knowledgable and a skilled driver. The caves did not disappoint and the preordered lunch was excellant! Our return driver was not a very good bus driver. Overall we would do the tour again.

Two hour bus ride from Auckland CBD through beautiful country scenery. The drivers were quite informational and friendly. I enjoyed seeing the cave and was awed by the spectacle of the Glowworms! I would do it again one day

I booked using Viator which would send my booking to a travel agent in NZ. The travel agent didn't check their email so nobody knew that I had paid for everything in total. Had to do last minute chase-up calls. Calling internationally to Viator only to let the answering machine tell me that 'Viator is an online company and will only deal with issues online'. Very frustrating!! Don't see why they have a phone number in the first place then. Other than this panicky hiccup, the actual tour itself was lots of fun and very intriguing.

The tour was mostly riding a bus 2 hours there and 2 hours back with only a very short tour of about 45. A longer tour in the caves would have been appreciated.

The program wasn't as good as I expected. We were supposed to visit a Maori Village, but we went back to Auckland. The driver was OK and gave us a lot of explanation. It was too expensive for what I expected. Also we were back at 4 o'clock! I was really disappointed.

The bus driver was very informative and made the long ride out to the caves go by quickly. The ride back was much longer without any narrative.
