Provence in One Day Small Group Day Trip from Avignon

Avignon, France

Forget the hassles of hiring a car and finding your own way! Take a small group tour of Provence and its exquisite highlights: Avignon, Pont du Gard, Les Baux de Provence and Roussillon. Your minivan holds a maximum of eight passengers, and a small group tour is the perfect way to get to out-of-the-way places in one day.

You will visit the famous Pont du Gard bridge classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site and dating back to the 1st century. You'll also tour the historic center of Les Baux de Provence, with free time to enjoy lunch on your own.

After a stop at the Antiques of Saint Remy de Provence, a triumphal arch and funeral monument in a field of olive trees painted many times by Vincent Van Gogh, you'll journey to the Luberon, made famous by Peter Mayle in his book A Year in Provence.

You'll also visit Roussillon and the dry-stone village of Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Finally there's a visit to a lavender museum to discover the floral symbol of Provence. You'll witness a distillation demonstration during the harvest (from July to August).

Trip was excellent, guide had good knowledge of the area, was very friendly and likable. Would have liked the tour to include a Winery as this has been an essential part of Province since 1200. The trip is titled Province in one day so not including a Winery seems strange.

I really enjoyed the Provence tour. The sights were amazing and Anais, our tour guide, was a fabulous guide. There were three different languages in our van and she handled the challenge with ease and grace. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat!

This is was a great tour and really, really worthwhile! The tour guide was so friendly and the places allowed you enough time to have a walk about without getting bored or having too little time.

Our tour of Provence took place just before we returned home to the US after a 9-day large group tour of Switzerland with another company. We were exhausted by the end, although we had a great trip. After a couple of days to unwind in Lyon, we traveled to Avignon and had one day to ourselves. Then, we took the day-long tour of Provence. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the small group experience very much. Instead of riding in a large bus, we traveled in a mini-van around the countryside, visiting small villages and seeing several sites. Our tour guide did a nice job of telling us about the area as she drove, then dropped us off to do some sightseeing on our own. Our only regret was during the lunch stop when we sat down in a small outdoor cafe and the language barrier kept us from adequately explaining that we did not have an unlimited amount of time for lunch. After about 20-25 minutes, we only had been able to order a drink and had not yet placed our food order, so we paid and then walked down the street to find a quick sandwich before getting back in the mini-van. The street market in Gordes and the Lavender Museum were my favorites. My husband particularly enjoyed the Pont du Gard. It was a great way to end our vacation!

Absolutely wonderful, tour guide was excellent very knowledgeable. There was only 4 of us in the mini bus, 8 would have been very cramped. Very full day but all the areas we visited were excellent and full of history. Highly recommended

Well, basically okay but it would be nice if the guide can give us more info, say at St Remy, we were dropped off and told when we should gather again, but not much about what to see around there. Its a huge place and we didn't know where to go (above all, not enough time). My suggestion for the tour, cut the St Remy and Lavender Museum and extend the time on the hilltop villages, there are a lot more fun. Pont du Guad , Gordes are great places.....Regarding the guide , I heard that it depends on the luck.....

Loved the whole tour. We only had two days in the Avignon area and this tour gave us a splendid view of the highlites. It was a 10 hour tour in a comfortable van with a great driver.

Very good tour knowledgeable guide. I wish we had booked a tour that could go to fewer villages and give us more time with them.

needed more time in the town we stopped for lunch as there was a market and not enough time to browse the stalls. Guide was very good.

For those with a short amount of time in the Provence region, this trip is perfect. My wife and I initially wanted to rent a car. However, for 1.5 days it was too expensive. You essentially have a guide that takes you from amazing sight to sight without the worry of getting lost. My wife and I do wish we had more time in some of the villages, but again, this trip is designed to quickly see everything. If you can rent a car and have time, this tour is not necessary.

A full day but worth it to see the sites since we did not have a car - We did not like arriving at St. Remy on market day - way too crowded and no time to see the town. I enjoyed the Lavender Museum but my husband was not interested.

Sarah, our tour guide and driver was very knowledgable about the various sights we experienced and had so much information to share. Conscious of her time schedule,Sarah was prompt in picking us up and getting back on time. She even secured ice from a restaurant for a swollen ankle after my wife fell on an uneven sidewalk.....later turned out to be a broken leg. She was a kind and thoughtful tour guide and the ten hour tour passed so quickly. Many thanks.

Pont du Gard was fantastic, Les Baux was fake and touristy like no one actually lived there, St Remy was nice for lunch, Roussillon was a real highlight, the view of Gordes was great but the town itself was boring. The lavender museum was really onlly of interest to those who like lavender. Wish we had gone to Menerbes instead of Les Baux. The tour guide was very passionate and knowledgeable, and kept us to our timetable very well.

The Avignon tour was comprehensive and being a small group most enjoyable. Avignon is a fascinating place to visit! The only bad comment I would have is that the driver spoke more in French than English, and that he used his mobile phone whilst driving.

Saw so much with minimal hassle. No car, no worries. With the small size of the group, only 8, it was like having a private tour.

This is definitely worth doing to see the beautiful villages of Roussillon, Gordes, and Les Baux de Provence. I also loved the market at L'Isle sur la Sorgue on Sunday. It was a fabulous day and we could not have seen as much on our own. Our guide was very nice and informative.

The lady who looked after us was just fantastic! Not only her guidance was perfect but also her knowledge about Provence France was incredible. The only thing I would suggest is that I wish I spent more time in little villages and Pont du Gard rather than at lavender museum. Thank you so much for making my trip in Provence wonderful.

I highly recommend this tour and want to stress how wonderful our guide was and how perfect the tour was. We were able to get the opportunity to experience and be part of places in Provence that we would have been deprived of had it not been for this tour. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity. It was _i_fantastic_/i_.
