Uluru and Kata Tjuta Tour by Helicopter from Ayers Rock

Ayers Rock, Australia

Appreciate the sheer magnificence of the Red Centre, Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the stunning Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) formations from the air with your choice of either a 15 or 30 minute scenic helicopter flight. With pick up and drop off from your Ayers Rock Resort Hotel, there is nothing for you to do but enjoy this great spectacle and adventure when you arrive at Ayers Rock.

Rock Blasting Helicopter Tour (15 minutes): Blast off to Uluru! The helicopter takes off from a launch near Uluru (Ayers Rock). Below you'll see Ayers Rock Resort, the waterhole Mutitjulu, the surrounding desert, a panorama of breathtaking scenery unique to the Red Centre. Total duration approx. 1 hour.

Uluru and Kata Tjuta Helicopter Flight (30 minutes): This longer flight offers the same views of the 15 minute flight - and much more! You will see Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the magnificent red desert all the way to the striking rock formations of Kata Tjuta, an Aboriginal term meaning 'many heads'. With Mt Olga forming the tallest, more than 36 massive, domed rocks make up this natural wonder, a gathering of fantastic, striated shapes, some recalling giants huddled in conversation. As Uluru is, Kata Tjuta is sacred to the Anangu people, and resonates with their legends and lore. Total duration is approx. 1.5 hour.

Extended Uluru and Kata Tjuta Helicopter Flight (36 minutes): Prepare to be awe-inspired by the sheer size and beauty of these natural wonders. This flight is similar to the 30 flight, but offers more flying time. Anyone with an interest in Australia's Red Centre should see the sights from this angle. The views will provide you with the perfect opportunity to take spectacular aerial photographs with expert and detailed commentary supplied by your pilot. An absolute must for any photographer! Total duration is approx. 1.5 hour.

It was a real experience being able to see Uluru from this perspective, however it is also expensive for 15 minutes in the air. Glad that we did it but it is a once only adventure .

It was great experience even though we had bad luck with weather. The helicopter was a bit small, but there was only our group inside, which was good. And the pilot was awsome. He told us a lot about the places we were above.

This tour was worth every cent, it was spectacular to view these amazing formations from the air. I was with my 75 year old mother and my 23 y.o daughter.I had to talk mum into doing it, she wasn't sure it was worth the money. Must say, she had no regrets. Our pilot, Tristen, was not only very informative, but gorgeous into the bargain. Would definitely do this again .

Excellent views. Justin the pilot was great. This helicopter ride was a perfect time saver as we were in Uluru for only 19 hours. Pickup was on time.

Superb experience. Leia, our pilot, was the perfect host, and the transfers to and from the tour were seamless with very friendly staff. We had our five-year old little girl with us, and she loved it. Fully recommended - and thanks, Leia!

What a brilliant trip! This will stay in my memory for ever as one of the most amazing experiences ever. I have been on helicopter trips before but this was the best yet. The pilot was so interesting and helpful but of course the best part was the view of these fabulous rocks.

Yes, was well worth doing. A word of advice though: if you suffer from motion sickness, remember to take your medication around the time of pickup. My partner suffers and didn't allow enough time for hers to kick in. Ask for sick bag prior to take off. She still loved it and would definitely do it again.

We only did the Uluru flight, but I would be tempted to do the longer one that takes in Kata Tjuta if I were to do it again.

Amazing, great! Pilot was nice and very informative. Especially in January, nobody in Ayers Rock but flies, buying a fly net is a must, nobody in the air, lots of emotions. A must do!

Made the mistake of sitting in front next to our pilot. Did not like the fact that there was so much perspex and so little structure to the 4 seater craft with no grab handle available. Didn't realise that would be my reaction until we were airborne. As a result, I spent a lot of time with my eyes closed every time it banked!! Scenery wise the flight was awesome. I would do it again but only if I could sit in a rear seat.

This was the first thing that we did upon arrival in Uluru. The 30 minute flight that we took was a good overview of the area and truly helped us appreciate the size of Ayers Rock and the Olgas. We never would have appreciated the size of the Olgas, because you cannot drive around them as you can Ayers Rock. Since we were not about to violate the Aboriginal preference that people not climb to the top this trip provided us with the aerial views that would have been achieved with the climb. The pilot was personable, informed and most helpful, positioning the helicopter so that everyone could have an opportunity take pictures. This is a not to be missed experience.

It was a lot of money for what you got. After going on a helicopter flight in both New Zealand and the Grand Canyon, this one "near" Uluru was boring and unadventurous. The pilot was great and really nice, but the flight was too much for what you actually see and get.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

We used the helicopter both in Uluru and Kings Canyon. Both trips were fantastic with very interesting commentaries by the pilots. To view from the air gives another perspective of these tremendous sites. A must for all travellers.
