Bangkok Chinatown and Night Markets Small-Group Tour including Dinner

Bangkok, Thailand

Discover the old and new Bangkok, stop for a coffee at a 100 year-old cafe and enjoy grilled seafood from the market street stalls on this Chinatown and Night Market small group tour.

From hundreds of street stalls to the finest of Chinese restaurants there's plenty to tempt your taste buds. Stroll past market stalls filled with colorful flowers and plenty of bargains. Feel the vibe and watch Chinatown come alive at night.

Make your way to the lobby of the Viengtai Hotel, Rambutri Road, Banglamphu (runs parallel to Khao San Road) to meet your guide. You'll travel together by taxi or minivan to the starting point of this exciting tour.

Your guided evening tour begins along Ratchawong Pier on the Chao Praya River. Step back in time to the old markets in Yaowarat, located in the heart of the vibrant Chinatown district. The original Chinese citizens were traders living in the village of Bangkok before it became the capital of the Kingdom of Siam. The land that now occupies the Grand Palace belonged to the traders.

Continue from the pier and walk along Song Wat Road, which is bordered by old business buildings and warehouses - most of which are still operating today. You'll stop at a 100 year-old coffee shop on Pha Sai Road. Relax and enjoy coffee and a snack while you take in the atmosphere.

Walk to Issarnuparb Road and a market specializing in Chinese religious products, fresh food including seafood. In the evening Yaowaraj Road becomes a sea of street stalls, collectively becoming one large food bazaar. The food options range from street stalls to the finest Chinese restaurants. You'll enjoy some delicious charcoal grilled seafood from one of these street stalls.

After dinner you'll walk to Saphan Put Night Market, where you'll find a vast array of clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, second hand collections and antiques on sale. You'll have plenty of opportunity to shop!

Your Chinatown and Night Market tour concludes at Pakklong Talad ("talad" meaning market), the largest wholesale flower and vegetable market in Bangkok.

Your guide can assist you in getting a taxi back to your hotel if needed.

This tour was well run and very informative. We saw a lot of things tourists would not see on their own. Even though the weather was against us the guide bought ponchos and we had a great time. Recommended.

If going on a Tuk Tuk tour this tour is wasted. A lot of walking involved. Dinner was good where we got to know the "local" cuisine. Tour guide VERY professional and knowledgeable.

In my opinion this tour is more suited to the young and very keen walker. The Temple was excellent, but China town market was repetitive and you walk through so quick you do not actually get time to look at individual stalls if you are interested in buying anything. We actually stopped the tour after China town and caught a taxi back to the hotel. Tour guide Nop was very informative and friendly.

A small group, total four of us including me, my friend, tourist guide & one guest. But it turns out to be a very cozy and friendly gathering and we spent the time together - eating, shopping, etc. etc. It looks like we know each other for long and go to the vacation trip together.

Where do I start? We had to travel to the main railway station to be pick up by our guide, who I must say was a great young fellow. But unfortunately for him, he has a pitiful tour. No fault of his though. Two and a half hours later, we started the tour at Chinatown, 300 meters from our motel. We then walked to a temple, which was shut for renovations. Forty-five minutes wasted out of the 6.5 hr tour. I think about 1 hr was good and that was the flower market our guide took us to after tea. I think he felt bad about how the day went, through no fault of his. I would think long and hard before booking another insipid tour in Bangkok.

This was a really great tour. As it turned out I was the only person booked on the day, which was a bonus. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and the Cantonese dinner was amazing.

There is shopping everywhere. You really don't need a guide for this adventure.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
