Barcelona Modernism and Gaudi Walking Tour

Barcelona, Spain

Join a Barcelona Walking Tour of the Quadrat d'Or, or Golden Square, in the Eixample district. This is an exceptional area which became the focus of "modernist" Barcelona at the end of the 19th century.

Gaudi is the city's most internationally renowned and emblematic architect. His buildings are a must-see attraction which leave everyone who sees them speechless with wonder.

Take a leisurely stroll through this neighborhood and admire the Catalan art Nouveau buildings by celebrated architects such as Antoni Gaudi, Domenech i Mutaner and Puig i Cadafalch, to name just a few.

Your tour also includes a 20% discount on the Palau de la Música Catalana (Music Palace) guided tour, a 20% discount on the Museu del Modernisme Català (Catalan Modernism Museum) and a 10% discount on admission to Casa Batllo, an exceptional modern masterpiece by Gaudi. This discount is valid for 1 year so you can visit at your leisure. Please note a visit to Casa Batllo is not part of this tour.

Guide was knowledgeable. Great way to see examples of modern buildings and headphones ensure that you hear clearly and you are free to move around for photos.

Tour was late starting because staff arrived at meeting point at start time and then had to first hand out head sets, etc. Guide crossed a large intersection, leaving half the group behind, who then had to try and find him on the crowded street. He was very well informed.

Good tour for background, but you'll see only a few of the famous "Modernistas'" buildings. The guide stressed that there were many others than Gaudi, and most of the tour dwelt on things other than the buildings we see in pictures. At the end, when people asked how to get to specific buildings they'd read about, the guide did tell how to reach them.

Worth doing, we saw the important Gaudi buildings but also learnt a lot about buildings we would never have come across ourselves. Recommended. Thanks for a great tour.

Excellent tour. Headphones provided so this enabled us hear the tour guide without having to be too close. He was very enthusiastic about the history of the buildings and architects of Barcelona and this tour dovetails very nicely with the Gothic Tour, providing tourists with a comprehensive insight into the origins and development of Barcelona. I would highly recommend this inexpensive way of finding out about the emergence of Barcelona.

One of the traditional tour of Barceona not to be missed. I recommended for those who are seeking for a unique architecture and unique history of modern Barcelona. Full star for the tour.

For me a great introduction to the circumstances leading to modernism and the artists, architects and events of the time. It is such a beautiful city. It was quite a long walk, but full of great information and it go me into areas of the city I would probably have otherwise missed. Head set allow to wander as the guide is talking but still stay connected to the group.

Large group requiring audio to hear the guide. Equipment difficulties made it hard for me to hear, but it was an interesting and enjoyable tour.

This was the third of 3 Viator tours we attended in Barcelona and it was disappointing because the young man who led the tour seemed to be fascinated with history. We stood in one spot at the start of the tour for a full 30 minutes as he related the history of Barcelona from the Roman time to the present. At each stop, he mentioned a bit about the architecture and then went on more about history. He was a pleasant enough young man but needs to stick more to the topic and not to stand in one place for 30 minutes before going anywhere. I think if one of the supervisors monitored him he could turn out to be a better guide.
