Salvador Dali Museum, Figueres and Cadaques Small Group Day Trip from Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

This is without doubt, one of the most complete Salvador Dalí tours available. Spend the morning at the unique Dalí Museum in Figueres and finish the day either on his beloved Costa Brava, visiting his home in Port Lligat and the magificent Cap de Creus, or at the castle he built for his wife. It's a complete surrealistic experience. On this small group walking tour, you'll receive personalized attention from your guide. And by booking ahead, you won't waste any time waiting in line!

Depart Barcelona and set out for Figueres, the birthplace of Dalí and home to the world famous Dalí Museum-Theatre. Explore where he was born on Monturiol Street and also visit the famous museum. Step inside the surreal world of Salvador Dalí and find a museum like none other. Dalí wanted visitors to see his massive collection as a ‘whole' work, and for this reason he wanted no catalogues and refused to have his works placed in chronological or subject order. Inside is a world of fantasy mixed with architecture mixed with paintings and sculptures. It's a complete surrealistic experience. The tour itinerary varies:

From September 16 - June 30 (Winter):
Leave Figueres and head to the beautiful coastal village of Cadaqués. Famous for its white washed Mediterranean houses, narrow shady streets, and sandy bay, this is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava. But what really stands out for many people is the dramatic drive there, which offers some of the best views in the whole of Catalunya. This is the perfect place for lunch. In the afternoon we will travel just a few minutes up the coast to the even smaller village of Port Lligat, the place where Dalí sought the peace and quiet that truly inspired him and where he built his house. Finally, we will more on to Cap de Creus, the most easterly point of mainland Spain and one of the most starkly beautiful coastal landscapes in the whole of the country.

From July 1 - September 15 (Summer):
Go to another of Dalí's creations, Pubol Castle in the village of the same name. As well as visiting the castle, there are ample opportunities to eat in a traditional Catalan restaurant. In mid afternoon, your tour will continue to Palamos: one of those rare hidden corners you can still find on the Costa Brava. Dalí visited this region several times in the 1930s, especially a place called Mas Juny, owned by his friend Josep Sert, a famous Catalan painter of the time.

Special Offer - Book and travel before June, 30 2012 and receive a FREE bottle of Spanish cava by presenting your voucher at the end of the tour at their office. - Book Now!

We really enjoyed our visit to the Dali Museum, Figueres, Cadaques and Cape de Crues. Our guide gave us a perfect Dali experience, he was so knowledgeable with all things Dali and he really made our day special. We shared lots of laughs and stories and didn't really want the day to end.

Loved Cadaques and Dali's house. It was quite more interesting than the renowed Gaudi's Batlo house in Barcelona. I especially liked the mountain sunset that we got to see along with our small tour group. Anna was very nice.

Trip was great. My sister and I ended up being the only ones on the tour. Although the Dali house was closed for cleaning that day, we still had a really interesting trip. Especially since we had no schedule. We visited the theater in Figueres, we then went on to have lunch in Cadeques. The whole town happened to have a national holiday so only two restaurants were open and all the shops were closed. Despite this we ate a wonderful sea food lunch in the warm sun on the Mediterranean and had the whole picturesque village to ourselves to photograph. We then drove on to Cap de Creu where we saw a lighthouse with stunning views over craggy rocks. We enjoyed a drink there. On the way back our guide explained Dalis entire life history.

Very nice trip. Excellent Scottish guide except for the fact that he was hard to understand in the back of the noisy bus. (no mike) We were not all able to enter Dali's house since we arrived a few minutes late. Because of the size of the bus we also were not able to watch the sundown down the road. It made it too long a day for what we paid for.

We had a great tour guide on this trip. I loved visiting the museum and the town that Dali spent his holidays. The only negative is - we had to pay the same price for both kids or adults - which I was obviously willing to do - but when we got to the museum our tour guide asked us to show the kids passports so we could get in the museum for less - we were not refunded any difference - the tour company kept the money. It was a long tour - lasting about 11.5 hours - not something I would have wanted to organize on my own. Worry free.

Being in Dali's home - and seeing his view of the sea as he awoke each morning - and seeing all his interesting personal artifacts (like a stuffed polar bear in the entry hall) was wonderful. The museum in Figures was unusual and fun. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our group of seven got to know each other and had fun together. Our guide was knowledgeable and helpful and took us on a bonus trip to a high lookout over the Mediterranean. I would give this tour another star if the price included lunch and the tour of Dali's home. (The tour price included only the admission to the Figueres museum).

Loved the tour. Tour guide did not offer any information. She drove us from place to place...and that's it. When we did ask her questions she seemed irritated. Did not have any personality, was not informative. We could have taken a train or bus and gotten the same service. When you choose a tour you expect personal service.

We did not like this. First of all, the organizer packed us with another group of 4 who were supposed to go to the Pyrennes. Second, the van was very small. On the way back, my back hurt a lot as I was squeezed into the front with my daughter. Third, the guide did not explain about Dali on the way there.

We had a wonderful trip. Our guide Anna was terrific. When one member of our group discovered that she had lost her wallet, Anna turned the van around and drove straight to the police station to report it. She left her cell phone number and 1/2 later we received a call that the wallet had been found. So Anna turned the van around again so the wallet could be retrieved. We enjoyed thewhacky Dali museum but really loved the Dali house in Cadaques. Again, Anna was wonderful... arranged for us to have a boat ride in the harbor which was a real treat. I have only one suggestion... the trip up to Figueres was about 2 hours. It would have been nice to have had a quick bathroom break about half way there and back.

What a wonderful day! We had a small group (4 plus guide) and we traveled in our own van. Figueras and the museum were very crowded. I belong to the Dali Museum in St. Pete, FL and we have most of his great works. But just seeing the building was mind blowing. The jewelry exhibit was a surprise - it was great. The jewelry is located in a separate building from the museum. Worth seeing. Then we went on to Cadaques where Dali lived and this was breathtaking. Not having a 'reservation' we could not get into the house where he lived but we did take a boat ride (similar to what Dali did in his day). Our guide, Anna, was terrific! Went above and beyond to make our day great.

The Dali Musuem and home are completely amazing and worth visiting. You can't visit Barcelona without seeing these places. However, not sure what we really paid for on this trip. Admission to both places were not covered in the overall price of the tour. So what did we pay for - gas money and tolls I suppose. The tour explaination could have spelled this out a little more clearly. For the price, my husband I and could have rented a car and gone on our own.

Good tour and intro to Dali! It would have been nice if the admission prices were included considering the price we paid! Also, it would have been nice to have a tour guide who gave a little more background instead of being just a driver.

Great tour! Tour ran with only four people signed up -- in a van with an excellent driverguide. Our guide asked if we wished to visit Dali's house in Port Lligat near Cadaques. We did so he phoned ahead to make reservations. Casa Dali is a true gem, not available on any other group tours and only available in this tour during certain months.

We enjoyed the trip from Barcelona to Figueres, etc. It was a chance to see more of the countryside and the Costa Brava. The museum is interesting but more than that was the chance to see and spend time in the oceanfront town of Cadaques. Our tour guide, Carina, was an excellent driver as well as very well informed about the museum and the area we traveled through.
