Tapas Evening Walking Tour of Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

Combine gourmet food and Catalan culture on a pre-dinner walking tour of Barcelona's famous tapas bars. It's a great way to begin your visit of Barcelona - not only do you get an overview of this fabulous city, you also learn how to order tapas (bar snacks) and discover some of the best bars and cafes Barcelona has to offer. Plus, your friendly, informative guide can offer suggestions to help you get the most from your stay in Barcelona.

Your tapas walking tour begins on Barcelona's most famous street, La Rambla, with its bird cages, tapas bars and local restaurants. From here you and your guide will go to La Boqueria, the city's famous food market, which offers an array of fresh produce including fruit and vegetables, seafood, cheese and any type of meat imaginable.

The tour continues at a restaurant offering a wide selection of local, delicious tapas. Here you will enjoy three tapas with a glass of wine, beer or cider, while your food-and-wine-guide provides insights into the flavors of wine, the cuisine and Spanish culture.

You'll continue through the Gothic Quarter, where you will discover the architecture, atmosphere, language and gastronomy that are unique to Spain, and some of the gourmet shops which are over 100 years old.

Your last stop will be in a bar where four tasty tapas and a glass of wine, cava or beer will be waiting for you.

This was a perfect tour to get to know Barcelona, at least the Gotic area. This was my first tour, a very nice introduction for sure. The walking tour thru the Gotic area with Niko was wonderful. He was very knowledge and the two Tapas Bars we stopped at where the best I had the entire trip.

Fun tour but guides knowledge about food was mediocre. Places we stopped for tapas definitely didn't feel very 'traditional'

This is our third walking food tour in the world. We would suggest building stronger relationships with specific chefs, visiting 3-5 special restaurants and learning about one specific dish at each. Take us in the kitchen, let us meet the chef, learn how to make his/her specialty. Meet the owner of a top ham store, bakery, cheese shop and a few top tapas places. LEARN something small and specific at each. Zerve in New York knows how to do it. I would suggest the top folks at Viator fly to NY and go on the Soho/Greenwich Village walking food tour. All that said, our host was delightful and charming.

The walking tour and Tapas evening was very enjoyable, one of the highlights of our stay in Barcelona. Guide was very personable and took us to interesting and varied places that we would not have gone by ourselves. Highly recommend this activity.

This was fun, but it should be labeled as a Barcelona walking tour, not a tapas tour. The tapas are more of a side-thought. Most of the time is spent walking and touring the city. I would've thought a tapas tour would've been just walking between various tapas places. Our guide (Antonio) was fantastic.

very disappointing- although our "guide" was excellent (sonya) and a pleasure to be with- the tour was a rip off!!! Only stopped at two tapas bars (were told it would be at least 3) and were told we could only choose 2-3 tapas total out of a choice of almost 15!! the wine selections were awful-- not worth doing this ...not for the money charged!!! you are better off walking around "la rambla" and the gothic area yourself and enjoying tapas along the way...much more fun and alot more affordable- would not recommend viator for this reason-- in fact cancelled one of their tours in Paris for this reason- I have never complained publicly like this...but really felt we were taken advantage of- sorry

My wife and I really enjoyed the Tapas Evening Walking Tour. The tour was informative and enjoyable. Our tour guide (Sonia) was courteous and pleasant and well informed about the subject matter. And the food was great. We will recommend this tour to our friends who plan to visit Barcelona in March.

Super yummy and Antonio was amazing! The tour was a nice way to start our short trip and gave us so many useful tips that made the rest of our trip much more enjoyable. The food and wine pairing were wonderful too. Not only did we get an excellent assortment of fine Tapas, we also got recommendations for other restaurants and hot spots to try out as well!

This tour was way overpriced. Although the tapas and wine were adequate, they certainly were not up to the caliber they should have been for that price. The market we visited was very interesting, but it was so crowded and noisy at that hour that it was difficult trying to hear the guide. The tour was very minimal, and the tour guide could have done a better job. We ended up having fun because of the group of people we met on this tour.

Too much time spent at the local market and not enough time spent at the tapas place. The wine that was poured was not generous at all. Definitely would have spent money on something else.

This was a great tour. We were lucky enough to only have 4 on the tour which made it very intimate. The guide was excellent he knew the area extremely well and gave great background not only to the food and restaurants but also to the history of Barcelona. The restaurants he took us to for samples were great with different types of tapas and excellent quality. The tour gave us a great introduction to Barcelona. This is a must for any food lovers.

During our stay in Barcelona my wife and I felt that our Tapas Walking Tour was definitely the highlight of our visit. Our guide spoke perfect English and she even loved grammar and that made my wife happy. We visited the market and got lots of great information about the local foods. We walked through the Gothic Quarter and learned the most interesting facts about the area. On the tour we visited two Tapas Bars; one featuring food from the north and the other featured food from the south. Tours like this one are important for anyone trying to get a feel for the local foods and customs. We both highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Barcelona.

I can't say enough about how great this tour was, and how helpful it was in setting the tone of our trip. Not only is the historical information interesting, but getting a chance to observe the tapas ordering process made us so much more comfortable on the rest of our vacation. Sonja is AMAZING - sweet, friendly, and full of helpful tips - she wrote out a list of great wines for us to try and bring home, suggested delicious well-priced restaurants so we could avoid tourist traps, even gave us info about what areas were safe to explore at night and which to stay away from. So helpful for first time visitors. Again, our Barcelona trip would have been completely different without this little tapas tour. Well worth the money.

This walking Tapas tour was fantastic. When we found our guide at the Starbucks there are 2 on Las Ramblas so look for the guides orange shirt, we were immediately greeted with a smile and an introduction. Antonio our guide seemed to have an excellent knowledge of the city, its history and of course Tapas. The Tapas was excellent in the restaurants we stopped in and the cavabeerwine was great too however there were not as many glasses of winebeer as indicated in the tourwe had 2 in total, the tour says 4. This tour took us out of the main tourist traps and into some of the nicer areas of Barcelona where we saw ancient ruins, award winning shops and historical buildings. We got some very good tips for future meals in Barcelona that were excellent. Overall, this was an excellent experience that I would recommend to anyone, especially if you want to learn a little bit about Barcelona.

Because I noted my husband uses a wheechair, we were advised not to take this tour. Tour operator claimed we would not be able to negotiate the market and the old quarter was not wheelchair friendly. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..................The best thing we did in Barcelona!! Although we had to wait for a guest who did not show up, it sprinkled raindrops a few times, our guide was very informative about both history and tapas, wine, etc. Half of our group was from the ship we had crossed the Atlantic on, so we had a lot of common experiences, although we did not know one another. My husband and I had negotiated the market that afternoon with only minimal problems, BUT NO MORE than anyone else. Barcelona is probably one of the most wheelchair friendly cities in Europe we have visited. We LOVED this guide and this tour!! It is a lot of walking, but definitely worth it!!

We took this tour the evening we arrived in Barcelona. It was the perfect way to orient ourselves to the area. Our guide met us promply outside the designated location. He was very personable and knowledgeable about the history of Barcelona and answered all our questions. He gave us tips on other places that we wanted to see in Barcelona. There was only one other couple on our tour, so we felt like it was a private tour. We began walking down Las Ramblas, toured the La Boqueria Market and the Bari Gothic Quarter. Along the way, the guide would stop to point out interesting places and explain the history. We stopped at two tapas bars, one about halfway through the tour and the other at the end. We had 8 tapas with 3 glasses of wine. We had fun and enjoyed this tour. It's a great way to start your vacation in Barcelona.
