Normandy Battlefields Tour - Canadian World War II Sites

Bayeux, France

Begin your Normandy Battlefields Tour with a visit to the Juno Beach Center, the only museum in the Canadian sector. The Center retraces the implementation of the Canadian Army during fighting in Europe. Your minivan holds a maximum of eight passengers, and a small group tour is the perfect way to get to out-of-the-way places in one day.

Next stop is the Canadian Cemetery near the villages of Beny-sur-Mer and Reviers, next to where the 3rd Canadian Division landed. Over 2000 Canadian, British and French soldiers are buried here, they paid with their life in the fight for Liberty.

Last stop on this tour is Ardenne Abbey, a masterpiece of architectural design dating from the 12th century. In the early years of the German occupation, the abbey was a focal point for the local French Resistance. Its unfortunate reputation nowadays, however, is as the site of execution of Canadian prisoners of war by the child soldiers of the Hitler Youth Division.

Extremely interesting tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Would recommend this tour to all Canadians. The only thing I would recommend would be to inclued a longer stop at the Canadian Museum. We were allocated about an hour and one would need at least 2 hours to get through everything there.

The tour was excellent especially the Juno Beach centre. We visited the Abbey where the Canadians were executed. We had a little trouble hearing the guide in the van as there was no mic in the 8 passenger van.

Vincent met us at the Train Station in Bayeux at the perscribed time and showed us an amazing afternoon. The area is so rich in history it truly made me proud to be a Canadian. I was honoured to stand in the places so many Canadian heros stood. The Abbey was an amazing place and it was something I knew nothing about. _br/_ Vincent was so well versed in the history of the region he made the tour great. _br/_ If you have the chance to go, it is a short and direct train ride from Paris. Thanks for a great afternoon.

After phoning the company to tell them we were right across from the Canadian Museum they saved us the taxi trip in toBayeux and picked us up out our hotel. We were the only three people on the tour and our tourguide Rose was absolutely fantastic. She showed us all the sites with a lot of historically correct information and we learned so much from her. Because the trip was slightly altered to our needs it made is so much easier for us. It was an afternoon we will never forget. Thank you

The tour was outstanding. We cannot commend Vincent, our guide, highly enough. He made an impressive tour experience phenomenal. As Canadians, we greatly appreciated the Canadian focus offered by this unique tour. While we would recommend the tour to everyoe, we especially recommend it to Canadians as it gave an emotional history experience unequalled by any other. While we had many great experiences in Europe, the tour of the Juno Beach area was the highlight and we would most like to return there again in the future to explore more. We recommend allowing yourself time in Bayeux for exploring before or after the tour.

LOVED loved loved this tour! It's wonderful and for Canadians ideal! If you go by train from Paris there's a restaurant right across from the train station. Perfect for a quick lunch. The tour was great, saw Juno Beach, the Canadian Museum and a Canadian cementary. Went on June 5th, so everything for D-day was getting ready. Tour guide was for informed. Would definitely recommend.

We knew more about the sites than your guide; nothing learned, only seen.

Tour is a must see when staying in Northern France. Tour guide was extremely passionate and very knowledgeable of the events leading up to and days after the beach landings. I didn't think it was possible to have a greater respect for our War Veterans, but after taking this tour and seeing, hearing what they dealt with on landing day, saying Thank you just doesn't seem like enough.

I do not recommend it. It was OK at best, but for the price I would have rented a car and done a self-administered trip. The guide was nice, but difficult to understand. The time at the Juno Beach Centre was not long enough and the process there was not explained very well. Some people went ahead and bought tickets...even though the entry was covered. We saw very little WWII sites.

Enjoyed the tour and the guide. Some parking arrangement for those of us arriving by car would have been useful.

Our guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He really made the day! The tour itself was a moving and eye-opening way to spend an afternoon. Bayeux is also a gorgeous little town and well worth a visit before or after the tour.

Our tour was made very interesting thanks to our guide who did an excellent job of describing the details of how the Canadian troops came ashore and moved through the villages. It was especially interesting when he took us to the village where he personally grew up and related to us stories told by his grandmother of her encounters with both the German and Canadian troops. To be perfectly honest the guide made the tour and he deserves to be complimented for his personal attitude, interest and interaction with those of us on the tour.

Great tour guide and a great tour. Definitely worth seeing and listening to. Knowledgeable tour guide. He knew his stuff and was very good in treating all the questions. He tried really hard and did a great job. Also, bring a jacket. It's cold and windy on the beaches, we froze. Also it runs on time, so be there. Pretty easy to find since it's a small little town.
