Cambridge, Lexington and Concord

Boston, United States of America

Journey along the Battle Trail! Visit Harvard Yard, the oldest part of Harvard University. See Cambridge Common, where Washington took control of the Continental Army. Admire the three British cannons captured by the patriots in 1775, as well as a Civil War monument and a memorial commemorating the Irish Famine.

Drive along "Tory Row," past the home of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, poet and educator. Follow the route Paul Revere took as he warned the countryside that "the British are coming!" Stand on Lexington Green, where Captain Jonathan Parker and 77 Minutemen stood their ground against 700 of England's finest regulars.

In Concord, journey past the homes of Nathaniel Hawthorne, gothic novelist, Louisa May Alcott, author of Little Women, and Ralph Waldo Emerson, essayist and poet. Finally, you'll make your way to the Old North Bridge, where "the embattled farmers stood and fired the shot heard 'round the world".

My husband and I would have forgiven our driver -guide had the tour been uninterestingly dull or boring due to the weather conditions (heavy snow poured all day). However it proved to be one of the most entertaining and informative tours we've ever had. We thoroughly recommend Boston as a destination rich in the early history of this great nation.

Excellent trip - something different to do outside of Boston city at this time of year... beautiful countryside and full of history. Our guide / driver Francis was brilliant - he had lots of interesting stories...highly recommend this tour.

Confirmation process was frustrating - took many emails and phone calls to finally get confirmation of tour. Surprised it was so difficult to get confirmation since the bus was over half empty. Tour guide was wonderful - very knowledgable. Would like to have more time to walk around at stops.

This tour was a great overview of these three historical cities near Boston. The driver/tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining sharing many stories and historical facts with us. A great tour reasonably priced. Take one!

Good but new guide-need stop at Concord Museum and forget Harvard since there was no depth in the 1/2 day strip at Harvard.

The trip is very instructive. Our conductor is very knowledgeable, and answers to all of our quetions. Besides, it is a very pleasant sightseeing trip.

A relatively new tour guide was not as knowledgeable as we would have liked. Did not compare with your other tours in Boston area.

This trip is orientated towards historians and now admitting I was not all that interested in history was a little concerned that the trip would be boring. I will admit that the way the tour guide presented information made the trip very interested and I came away with knowledge and would recommend this trip to travellers to Boston.

Francis the bus driver was knowledgable and very attentive to our needs. We enjoyed Lexington and Concord, but wish we had had more time to look at things, and also to go to the National Park Service Visitor Center there. Since we only took the half-day tour, we had the option of getting off the bus at Cambridge or being taken back to our hotel. I don't think the online description of this tour mentioned that and I was surprised that we weren't actually going to get a tour of Cambridge. That was the only disappointing aspect of the tour.

Lexington and Concord were pretty and quaint. The driver of the tour was not that knowledgeable. He spoke of Louisa May Alcott and kept referring to her as Louise Marie Alcott. Harvard Square was our last stop, and it was so great we visited Cambridge again during our week stay in Boston.

Interesting tour, but not really much too see as you're mostly looking at land where battles were fought. However, we drove by many historic homes and through some beautiful areas. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable which made the tour more worthwhile. Probably not too exciting for the younger crowd.

We were picked up not far room our hotel and then went to meet others going on the tour. The tour guide was excellent and gave us tons of information along the drive. Took pictures through the plastic of the tour bus and they came out nice and clear. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Boston area. For the price we got a great tour and a nice ride up to Concord and back, Very pleased!

Loved the tour, although not long enough. Our guide was the BEST. He gave us fascinating and interesting history. Would have liked more time to look around Lexington and Concord. A handout of places seen and visited would be nice. Left me wanting more history. Loved standing where our patriots did!

should have included an actual tour while you were out of the bus, rather than just being dropped off. So little time at Harvard to make it worthless

It was very educational and the tour guide made the empty fields and old buildings come alive. Beautiful little towns and great scenery along the way in mid October.

This was really good. The tour guide was great and knew her stuff. We enjoyed strolling the campus of Harvard U and the stop in Lexington at the historic battle site. However, we didn't realize that some great features in Concord would be "drive-bys" without at least photo opportunities. A couple of moments pulled off to the side of the road would have been really nice at Louisa May Alcott's and Ralph Waldo Emerson's houses.

We were picked up at the Holiday Inn Express and taken to the tour center first. About 15 minutes later we were put on a very comfortable bus with a very big window, perfect for snapping pictures. Our tour operator was fabulous. He spoke clearly and pointed out some very interesting spots along the way to Lexington and Concord, some of which were not even on the itinerary. We were allowed off the bus at the Lexington Visitor Center and at the Old North Bridge in Concord with plenty of time to look around and soak up our nation's history. I thing for the money we paid, this was a fantastic value, and would recommend it to anyone.

The tour would have been better for us if they would have skipped the stop at Harvard Yard, and dedicated all the time to the Lexington and Concord areas.

This was an interesting historical tour! There was lots of great info. Our driver was knowledgeable, but we took the tour during the 'great rain event' and some stops were soggy. The people at the check-in were rude to most of the customers. I recommend the tour, but maybe with friendlier staff.
