Belgium in One Day Sightseeing Tour

Brussels, Belgium

Explore Bruges, Ghent and Ostend on a full-day tour of northern Belgium (Flanders) from Brussels. Traveling by train and tram, you'll see the very best of this beautiful region with your expert local guide. Sample fresh seafood in Ostend, enjoy a canal ride in Bruges and see the Saint Bavo Cathedral in Ghent - all included on your Belgium in One Day Sightseeing Tour!

Meet your local guide in Brussels, Belgium's capital and home to the European Union. From here, you'll take a train with your guide to the stylish seaside resort of Ostend. Boasting sandy beaches, a casino, racetrack and outdoor pools filled with heated seawater, Belgium's Ostend has something for everyone. You'll explore this bustling port town and sample delicious local seafood before continuing to Bruges - Belgium's most popular destination and a must-see on your vacation.

One of the best ways to see Bruges' sights is by canal boat, and this is included on your Belgium in One Day Sightseeing Tour. Lasting approximately 35 minutes, your Bruges canal ride will take you past the UNESCO World Heritage listed Belfry and Halls (bell tower and market halls) and the famed Bruges Almshouses. Venture inside the Chapel of the Holy Blood, where it's believed Christ's blood was taken after the crusades, before admiring the statue of Madonna with Child by Michelangelo. There will be time for a relaxing a la carte lunch in Bruges before leaving.

The final stop on your Belgium in One Day Sightseeing Tour is the medieval city of Ghent - often referred to as Flanders' unsung city. Sandwiched between Brussels and Bruges, this attractive medieval canal city has been long been overlooked by passing visitors. Although the Saint Bavo Cathedral is impressive from the outside, formidable queues form to see the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb - a masterpiece painted by Jan Van Eyck. See the 14th-century World Heritage-listed belfry rising from the old cloth hall, admire the towers of the medieval Gravensteen castle and closer to hand, the Graslei; the most photographed waterfront promenade with its magnificent guild houses.

it was amazing, our guide was fun and very friendly. We were just us in the tour so, i think it was perfect, it was the best thing that we could have done in our Belgium trip! I definitely recommend it!

The trip was great. A fantastic way to really get to see Belgium if you're going in a short time span. The tour guide was great and the group was small so it was very personable. Bruge is unbelievably beautiful. You get to see many different tourist sites and historical monuments. The only thing I would have changed about the trip was the trip to the coastal city, there was not much to do there and would have preferred to have stayed at Bruge. Oh they take you for lunch and you get a real taste of Belgium cuisine.

The trip overall was excellent. The tour started with a pickup at my hotel by the owner of the tour group. We met the tour guide and I was told we would have a private tour. Although we did take public transportation everywhere it was a good way to see the country and scenery. I was also able to tailor the tour a bit more to me and what I wanted to see. The tour guide was very accomodating. The cities seen were very beautiful...although I would have liked to stay more in Brugge and we missed the castle tour in Ghent I wanted to see due to timing. We did make it back to Brussels in time to join in on a dinner tour and grab some Belgian foods and dessert! A great day overall and a good way to see Northern Belgium and some of it's jewels.

My experience overall was a good one. The tour starter about 10 min. late but there was just myself and one other couple in a car so it was more like a private tour. The guide, Cristos, was very knowledgeable. The only disappointment was that we skipped the canal ride in Bruges as they only took full boats and the way we were timed, we would have had to wait for more that 30 min. One suggestion would be: instead of Antwerp as a stop, go to Ghent. Christos gave us the choice and I wanted to visit the house of Rubens, which is well worth seeing if you have the time, but given the choice, go with Ghent. It is comparable to Brugge in my opinion. The trip only booked on Saturday, which meant bigger crowds and more traffic after 11. We stopped at a great restaurant for lunch with great Belgian food (however, the Americans chose lasagne! Go figure.) None of us were beer drinkers, but we did visit a lace shop and a chocolate. Christos also turned out to be a great magician and did a couple of tricks during lunch and a break in a cafe later in the day. This added to the trip for me. From start to finish, the trip lasted about 12 and a half hours. A full day. Of course it's imposible to see Belgium in a day, but you get a sense that you have seen a great deal in the time that you spend during this day. I would certainly recommend it.
