Hamlet Castle Tour from Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Visit Copenhagen's castles made famous by Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'. You will be enchanted by the tales of Shakespeare as you escape to the intriguing Elsinore Castle. Bring along your camera for the photostop at Fredensborg - the Queens Summer Residence. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery along the Danish Riviera on your return journey to magnificent Copenhagen. This is a magical day out!

Travel up to Kronburg Castle, in the city of Elsinore, where you will see the outer walls and the towers of Kronburg Castle, the historic place made famous all over the world by Shakespeare's Hamlet, it is also the most popular castle in Denmark, with about 200,000 visitors each year.

Enjoy a photostop at Fredensborg - the Queens Summer Residence. Here you will have time to explore the Castle's gardens or the small market town of Hillerød, where the castle is perfectly situated. You will also see the beautiful town of Helsingor, with buildings dating back to the 1700's and afterwards travel back to Copenhagen via the Danish Riviera, so you can see how rich Denmark's top people really are!

The Kronborg castle is really interesting and has many peculiarities, but not a pleasent surprise for us was that instead of being taken to 3 castles, we were taken only to two! Still wonder why...And the second was Quenns summer residence which can hardly bwe considered as a normal visit as it is not allowed to enter - we just had a stop for 15 minutes to take pics...

Tour was over booked, had to wait for a new bus, driver could not operate audio system so no description of what we saw was available, and only went to one of 2 castles on agenda and could not see all due to late arrival and early closure of castle. Very poor trip based on prior Viator tours.

The tour was good although not enough time was given at the castle. It was not possible to see all areas and we were rushed back to the coach. This was annoying as the tour left late - 9.45 ish and returned early 1.30 ish. An additional 45 minutes at the castle as per the tour times would have been adequate. A bit disappointed.

We should have been allowed to spend half an hour more at the castle. The rest was fine.

My husband and I were disappointed by this tour. Basically, it was a 5 hour tour that was cut down to 4 hours, and almost 3 were spent on the bus. The trip there took almost an hour and a half, but the trip home only took 20 minutes. Our trip started by our bus driver saying he is not a tour guide, only a driver, not to ask him questions. On the way there we took the scenic way, however the audio was very staticy and hard to understand. Once at Hamlet's castle, we were given an hour. This was after our bus driver mentioned that he hated this castle. Getting tickets was unorganized, the castle was under a lot of construction, and the people were very unfriendly. The stop at the Queen's Castle was ten minutes. This was barely enough time to walk to the castle, get a picture, and head back to the bus. We believe that this trip cost more than it should for basically taking a bus ride.

The tour to the castle was well worth the visit and it was lovely to see the countryside on the way._br/_ The timing of the tour - 2pm was a negative. The driver went on the scenic route first so that by the time we got to the castle, we had barely 1 hour before closing, to virtually 'run through' the castle. This was a fault of the tour company and not of the actual tour.

It was awesome. I highly recommend it everyone visiting Copenhagen. The bus was on time and had great English translation. I just wished we had a little more time to see the castle; just 30 -45 min more. Overall it was great!!

Hamlet Castle Tour was good, not much informative but everything was working and we have enough time to check 3 castle. One full time and two for 30 minutes only. If You think You will find out any info about Prince Hamlet You are wrong, but very good info about modern life and villages. I would recomend this Tour.

The tour maximised the sightseeing in the available time If more time was available, I would have liked to see inside Kronborg castle - maybe the tour could start 45 mins earlier

I thought that the excursion was wonderful with the exception is that it would have been nice to know that the Hamlet statue was not at the castle. It had been moved to another location and we were unable to go back that way to take pictures. My son really wanted to see the statue and get a picture.

This tour is the exact same as the New Zealand Castle's Day Tour. Be careful what you book, I learned! Instead of the tour over 7.5 hours you do it in 5hrs. Very rushed so if you do not have much time do this one. Not an awful tour, it's that I had just done it the day before.

It was raining and there was only 4 of us on the tour which was a double decker bus and it still went so we were very happy about that. The first castle Fredericksborg that you tour was the highlight with extensive things to see throughout each floor rather than the Kronberg Hamlet castle which you only walk around the outside of and is interesting but do have time to do a quick inside run around if you wanted to but enough to interest us in the grounds. We enjoyed the day and definetely thought it was worth it to go on the tour after weighing up the train option which would cost more 6 too hard to get to anyway. We saved money booking via Viator site and pleased we did this.

This trip is worth doing but very rushed. Our bus left 30 minutes late, but they didn't make up the time to us. They cut us short to still get us back on time.

Explanation of sites seen was mostly "canned" on tape and did not always match what was actually there. The tape was not always clear.

We saw the best sites in Denmark in this tour. Castles were beautiful and much more elaborate then the ones in Copenhagen! Definitely glad we joined this tour!

I would have liked more time at the Hamlet Castle, even though the fee did not include entrance to the rooms I would have paid extra. I would have traded some of the time at the third castle, which was really an art museum that had some interesting stuff but wasn't a great castle. The worst part of the trip was that the bus broke down and we had to wait over an hour for a replacement.

Elsinore Castle was great to see but it would have been better if we'd got entry to this castle included in the tour. I'd have rather explored this than the other castle which we went round, although it was interesting to see inside all the paintings and artifacts related to Danish history. All in all it was a good trip to see outside of Copenhagen and the Danish countryside and the commentary on the bus which pointed out landmarks and gave details of typical Danish life was excellent!

Our favourite part was the drive along the Danish Riviera and stopping at Prince Fredrick and Princess Mary's Palace. Hamlet Castle and Fredriksberg Castle were a little boring.

This trip was not worth our time. We had too many languages to listen to. The guide did the very best he could do with the time we had. I would recommend this if you divide it up or make it a full-day tour.

Enjoyed the castle tour. We were able to see most everything we wanted in a short period of time, which was our intent. Service, transport, guide, all the arrangements were very smoothly. We will recommend this to others.
