Ronda and Tajo Gorge Day Trip from the Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol, Spain

Explore the mountainous region of Ronda on this relaxing day trip from the Costa del Sol. You'll see all the highlights of the lovely town of Ronda, including the Plaza de Toros Maestranza, the Church of the Holy Spirit, the town square and a bull-fighting museum.

The picturesque town of Ronda spans the plunging river gorge known as El Tajo, crossed by the impressive 18th-century Puente Nuevo bridge. You'll visit the town square, known as Plaza de Espana, the Church of the Holy spirit, built in 1485, and the Cathedral Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation, known today as the Church of Saint Mary the Elder.

Plaza de Toros, the oldest bull ring in Spain, has staged some of the most important events in bullfighting history. The museum's collection of memorabilia includes photos of famous bullfighting fans, including Ernest Hemingway and Orson Wells.

You'll have free time to explore Ronda and perhaps enjoy lunch at a local restaurant (not included) before returning to your hotel on the Costa del Sol.

Very nice bus ride. Beautiful location. Loved it.

My husband and I loved Ronda. It was one of our favorite places we visited. It isn't as "touristy"/busy as Seville/Granada and our guide was very good. The city was much easier to navigate then others, I just wish there was a little more free time!

What a fantastic place. Our tour guide was excellent and was very helpful. He explained everything in English so well. I would highly recommend that travellers use this company to get the best out of their trip to an absolutely amazing and historic place. Well done Viator.

Cool little town in Spain. Francisco Frank aka Paco did a good job giving us the tour. The bus ride there and back is about 2 hours of turns so be prepared for that. Overall cool place.

Ronda was beautiful. Bus driver awesome, tour guide was a grumpy jerk and threatened to leave my family mid way because my son had to take a bathroom break. Ronda itself, was a breathtaking and wonderful place to visit.

Ronda is BEAUTIFUL! A short trip hardly feels like enough. Our tour was "bi-lingual" which meant a lot of standing around for the other translation when you'd rather be seeing all the sites! But if you can't get here on your own and spend 2 or 3 days, this is a good quick trip. The guide is knowledgeable and the narrative is witty and informative. It's just hard to resist wandering off on your own so you can walk down to the bottom of the gorge...

This was an excellent trip. The bus picked us up at our hotel on time. There are a number of other pick ups after us so you have to be patient. We stopped for a coffee break on the way up and then headed to Rondo. What a beautiful little town. We bought wine at the wine shop and brought it home, it was delicious! Highly recommended. Got picked up at 7:45 am and back to our hotel at 6:30 pm.

If you are a young couple, travelling with young children or have trouble with lots of walking I probably wouldn't recommend this tour. The highlight for me was looking at the gorge and taking some good pictures. Buses are not allowed into Ronda so the whole tour is a walking tour. We saw 3 churches but were only allowed into one of them. We went to a wine cellar where you could taste some wine, but it was help yourself from a tap on the wall and you weren't actually told anything about the wine. The bull ring made some good pics, but we didn't actually really find it that interesting as there wasn't much to see. Then we had an hour and a half free time at a time in the day when most of the shops shut for siestas. I probably wouldn't have gone on this tour if I knew what I know now considering it takes up the whole day. Even though our bus broke down 10 mins out of the town (but were able to hop on other tour buses to take us the rest of the way), our tour guide was friendly and the buses were comfortable. However, if your looking for a pretty little white town to visit, I would recommend Benalmedana Pueblo.

The trip has been one of my favourite' going out days'. The views fantastic and the tour guide took us to numerous spots including some wine tasting. Ronda is a beautiful town and we ended up in a delightful alley where we sampled the tapas. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

This tour could be wonderful but we did it *under the rain* completely. We got wet, then we had to walk about 15 minutes by ourselves to find the mootorcoach as the driver and tour guide parked too far. Was terrible to walk too much with wet clothes.

If you are in Spain and have the opportunity to take this tour do it! This was the most picturesque town. The drive up is better left to the experts. The visit to the bullring was great too!

Ronda was beautiful, and although the guide was very knowledgeable, i believe he made a pit stop to run some errands in Marbella -- giving us an unexpected half-hour to roam around and extending an already long day even longer. Also, he had the bus driver drop him off at his car or destination before the trip was over and we were on the bus without a tour guide. Very unprofessional.

This is a fantastic site to behold. We had a very good guide who was able to point out all of the important aspects of the countryside and the city built over a gorge. The bullring was a sight to behold.

Again, rating it a "3" because of tour guild, but for different reason. Our tour guide was not the most friendly person. The 5 different languages really were unpleasant to listen through.

Excellent way to see Andalucia more widely with reasonably price. Our guide was really good and had good laguage skills. Ronda is worth visiting and you get to see many sides of it only in few hours. Extra stop at the Puerto Banus was was nice too. Views form the bus are excellent. Maybe there could be a short stop at the mountains Because picking up people from the hotels takes time, there should be atleast one hour more time in Ronda. That was the only negative side of the trip. I recommend to go to the lunch on your own.

Thank you for a lovely day out, we were especially pleased to have such a good coach driver as the route was far more precarious than we had realised it would be however his slow steady driving made us feel much better than we could have! The guide, Damien i think, was perfect too, he was very friendly and informative.

This was an excellent tour. I would highly recommend this to anyone. A beautiful setting. We were, however, not given an option to buy lunch with our tour, so we just ate on our own. Everyone said the food with the tour was not good, so it turned out best for us.

It is a pity that in a 10 hour trip 6 of those hours were spent driving around the luxury hotels of Costa del Sol picking and dropping off other tourists. Little time was left for Ronda a wonderful town. I had to be at the bus stop outside the police station in Malaga miles from the centre at 7 in the morning...A pity that after lunch the guide fell asleep . Fortunately the bus driver didn't.

We were so lucky with the weather - up until this day it had rained and rained and rained! However, it was beautiful. The guide was excellent, which made the experience all so much more interesting. Going at this time of year must be better than in the heat of the summer season, fewer people and so much easier to look around.

This trip was well worth doing. The scenery was stunning, and the guide was very informative. It was nice to get away from the touristy section and get a taste of real culture and life in Spain. Lots of opportunity to get some fantastic photos. Also had some free time to explore on our own, which was nice. The bus picked us up on time and conveniently at our hotel. We have booked with Viator before and have always been pleased with them. Would highly recommend this tour!

Ronda was a great excursion and the guide new his languages. Ronda is a beautiful old really Spanish city with great views. The only thing is that the best place to get on the bus is Marbella, so your tour starts right away. The pickup of all the people from Torremolinos to Marbella takes two hours.

This tour was very nice and Ronda is definitely worth going to. But wear comfortable shoes, I didn't because there is a lot of walking on cobblestone streets. The guide was very knowledgeable. We were left with some free time at the end which was good because of the local tourist shops which were very good. I was able to stock up on all my gifts to take home. Ronda is a must see and this tour is the best way to do it. I realized when we tried to go to Granada on our own, that it is better to go on a tour where they can explain the history of everything and take you to all the right places.

The guide was very knowledgeable and Ronda itself was absolutely beautiful! On the tour we got to go in a couple places as well and learn more about them. Just wonderful! I highly suggest checking out the bull ring there, it is the oldest in the world and you can go in and tour it. It's beautiful and worth the time.

Tour was wonderful. A fab not to be missed place to visit although the coach drive up and down the mountain is not for the faint hearted but the driver was wonderfully skilled and safe and the guide was really helpful and informative. Recommended to any visitor to this area of Spain.

Even though it rained the day we went we found Ronda to be a fantastic place to visit. We found the guide to be extremely knowledgeable and very willing to answer questions. Especially liked being picked up and dropped off right at the door to our hotel. I would definitely book tours with Viator again.
