Day Tour to the East Coast - Orient Express

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Your tour begins with a drive through the lush oasis of Al Dhaid, renowned for its fruit and vegetable plantations. Then onto Masafi, and the picturesque Hajar mountains before reaching the village of Dibba, for a wander around the small port.

Your tour continues along the coast, through small fishing villages. During your lunch break you may want to enjoy a relaxing swim in the Indian Ocean.

Continue your drive to Al Badiyah, the oldest mosque in the Emirates and in Fujairah, you will stop at the renovated Fort.

Before returning to Sharjah/Dubai there is a last stop at the oasis by the old citadel of Bithnah and time to browse around the "Friday Market" in Masa

What a great day out. The guide and driver were fantastic and really knew the history of the UAE. The transport was very comfortable and even through we booked a group tour there was just the two of us. Very good value for money and would highly recommend

The van's airconditioning struggled in the heat, making what should have been an interesting tour, quite an ordeal

Good trip but did overlap somewhat with the Hatta Springs i.e. Friday market and some of the initial photo stops the same. Still good value and extremely knowledgeable guide - friendly and approachable

On the positive side: the itinerary is interesting, the guide informative, hard working and friendly. There is more to the UAE than just Dubai and this tour is a good way to see some of that. The bus was comfortable.

Tour was excellent. Sarah our tour guide was very knowledgeble and explained everything to us. She had a great sense of humor as well. I highly recommend this tour if you want to see and learn more about the U.A.E.

I really wanted this to be good as I thought it would be a good idea to actually get out of Dubai and see more of the emirates however, I was sorely dissapointed. The trip could really be better organised but to be honest I think alot of the problem lies with the fact that there just isn't that much to do outside of Dubai! The trip is primarily spent inside the minibus and you only get out at a few locations to take photos. I would say approx 70 time spent in car and the majority of the time out of it was because you stop for lunch. The hotel where we had lunch was pretty decent in fujerah beach resort but it would have been nice if we could have spent a bit more time there to enjoy the beautiful beach it's amazing. Howvever we were quickly hurried off back to the bus. There are attempts to instill a sense of culture of the U.A.E but I would say that these are made reduntant. You get to stop to take a few photos at the old fort and also the oldest standing mosque in the emirates but these sites are seriously dilapidated and very neglected. Furthermore your interaction with them is limited to being able to stop for only a few photographs then bening ushered back to the bus!! Honestly I would say the highlight was seeing Dubai's skyline as we neared the end of the trip. I was incredibly dissapointed and to be honest I'm glad I ddnt pay so much for it. Before booking the trip I looked at many of the previous reviews to try to inform my decison and I'm surprised it has scored so highly.

It was a very long journey across the desert to see not that much. Do not do this trip to see out of this world markets or inside old historic forts. If, however, you have spent enough time in Dubai itself and want a change and to see some of the amazing UAE countryside, then this is the trip to go on.

If you have time, get out of Dubai and see the life outside of the city. Mountains, oasis, oldest mosque in UAE, walk on the beach. Driver guide was very professional and nice.

An excellent trip to see more than just Dubai but some of the UAE Emirates and a bit of Oman too. Although the Omni's have now put a boarder post in so you can no longer cross the border. You get picked up by car at your hotel and are taken to where the bus starts. There were eight of us on the mini bus and the guide was excellent. The only part of this trip which I considered a total waste of time was the visit to the 'Friday Market.' Remember to take your swimming gear for the lunch stop at a resort on the Indian Ocean, superb trip.

I did this trip with my 18 year old daughter and we both really enjoyed it. There were only 5 people on the tour, as there were not many tourists around -- it was July. The driver and guide were very friendly and informative. There is an awful lot of driving involved, but you get to see the more real side of life in the Emirates. The scenery is dramatic, from desert to mountains and beautiful coastline on the east coast. It was too hot when we were there to stay out in the sun for long, but we did enjoy a swim in the Gulf of Oman!

We had an excellent day out. This was not booked as a private tour, but much to our surprise we were the only people who had booked for that day, so top marks to Orient Tours the local supplier who ran it as a private tour for us at no extra charge. Transport was in a very comfortable air conditioned people carrier with the 2 of us, the driver and the guide. Both staff were excellent and provided a very memorable day for us. A couple of things to note - some other reviews here mention going into Oman. This is no longer possible as the small part of Oman at the tip of the UAE-Oman peninsula now has border-control with UAE -- which is a recent thing -- so the tour can no longer visit the Oman side of Dibba. Also, the Fujairah fort could only be visited externally as renovations have been going on -- apparently for the last couple of years and very slowly! The outside is still well worth seeing. The Friday market we just used as a toilet stop, as at the first few stalls we visited the owners were very pushy, picking things up that we had no interest in and handing them to us. They spoke no English. The other stops and general landscape and things pointed out on the road were all well worth seeing. The lunch restaurant offered a good selection and the food was good. This is a must do if you have a day to spare. We were picked up at 8:30 a.m. and were back in Dubai at about 3:30 p.m. It's a long drive, but there's plenty to see and do so definitely recommended and good value.

Out of the other tours, I find this the least memorable as I thought we spent quite a fair bit of time on the road with minimal restroom breaks. The place where we were taken to have lunch was unpleasant but thankfully the company with 2 Canadian ladies made the tour tolerable.

I had confidence after I checked what others had to say, before I went on the trip. True to what was said, I too had a Very Good Trip. Its best to go during winter ie. from November to Feb as summer might be too hot. I got full worth for my money. Thanks Viator.

Firstly I didn't like that we were only given one choice of restaurant for lunch, which was overpriced for the average quality food. Secondly there wasn't much to see or do. Also I was given the impression we could go into the fort only to find out when we got there it was closed. It also felt a bit rushed. I found tours taken in Oman were much more enjoyable.

Tour covered a variety of scenery. Lunch at beach hotel was fine, but staff could have been advised of our arrival, so service could have been quicker during the stopover. Really appreciated hotel pickup and drop off. It was good value for money by comparison.

Very interesting tour despite the 42 degrees of heat, gained more information about UAE. We didn't travel/visit according to the description but saw most of the places listed. Suggest tour operators should give more details about lunch set up - it was either a big hotel or small cafe. As there was only 4 four us, it was easy to decide. Could be difficult and time wasting if there was a large group. It was very hot at the beach but definitely worth a paddle.

This was a very interesting trip just to see what's the around the area instead of only Dubai. The mountains are huge and not too bad for a 10-minute ride through Oman. All in, a nice drive outside of the city for the day.

A great full day, guide was good, transport great, sights and tour excellent. Friday markets were fun. Oman and the Gulf were great. The trip through the mountains was eye-opening. Lunch at the hotel was excellent, as it was Christmas Day. Water in the Gulf could have been warmer, but we did swim.
