Dublin Liffey River Cruise

Dublin, Ireland

Drift down the River Liffey on a leisurely 45-minute cruise from the heart of Dublin. With a local guide providing professional commentary, your all-weather, purpose-built vessel can accommodate up to 48 passengers, offering maximum comfort and safety. The boat is wheel chair accessible and suitable for young and old alike.

Discover all aspects of the history of the River Liffey and of Dublin city itself, from the first arrival of the Vikings 1000 years ago, to the rapid development of the city during the 18th and 19th Centuries to become a major European capital, and of the subsequent decline and more recent redevelopment of Dublin's Docklands.

You will learn the story behind the iconic Ha'penny bridge as well as Gandon's masterpiece, the majestic Custom House. You will follow the story of Dublin's Royal and Grand Canals and see where Oliver Cromwell landed in 1649. You'll also hear how Captain William Bligh surveyed Dublin Bay in 1800. Learn of how much of present day Dublin now sits on reclaimed land, including Trinity College and the Spire in O'Connell Street.

The crew was very nice and informational about the history of Dublin. I wish we started this first, they new the history of the area and had some humor will telling the stories. My 2 teens had a great time and really enjoyed the ride.

The weather was a bit blustery but we got a great couple of guides all to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the conversation.

This was a must do if your staying in Dublin! It was a great way to spend 45 minutes relaxing and listening to a super tour guild that not only tells you all about the tour but also adds loads of other stuff in to keep you and your other sight seers happy and laughing together.

Good tour great for spending an hour cruising, if you have nothing else to do. The crew was informative and entertaining. Not sure there is much to see along the Liffey river banks, when compared to other river cruises I've taken around the world. The scenery and the architecture seen on the cruise is not that exciting.

I planned this as our introduction to Dublin on the first day of our trip. It was exemplary. The guide was very knowledgeable and personable. He gave special attention to the Jeannie Johnson Famine Ship, which we made sure to tour. He represented admirably the spirit of Ireland.

Tour takes you further down river than any of the bus tours, but nothing great. If you have time, tour is ok, but not worth making it an important addition to Dublin things to do while visiting.

The tour guide and driver were great, although we had a rainy day when we went on the cruise they still made it a trip worth going on with plenty of info and interaction. When in Dublin I would recommend this cruise.

The boat trip was wonderful. On your trip, we only had a small group, so the two crew men, let us climb up in the port hole to take some awesome photos of Dublin. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

I enjoyed this tour but did not know that the river has tides and I hit low tide so we were way down with high walls on the sides! Try to do it when the tide is in. The tour itself was good.

This cruise is sort of a waste of time. Nice tour guide but we were only being shown the back of meaningless buildings. Save your 14 euros.

This was a neat experience. I thought that the guide was very informative and funny. Being a U2 fan, I was grateful that he pointed out some "important U2 things". Besides that, he gave a good history and explanation of all the things we were looking at. I'd recommend this tour.

It was just OK in my opinion, but I think that's personal taste. Definitely relaxing, just not my cup of tea - bit boring if I'm being honest. Good if you like history-type info - find out about buildings and stories about the banks of the river, or if you're a fan of Louis Walsh - his penthouse will be pointed out to you!

This is very unreliable due to the extreme tides on the River Liffey. They left thirty minutes before our scheduled departure, so we arranged the cruise for the next day. We showed up and since we were the only couple, they weren't going out due to lack of passengers. We wasted a lot of valuable time on this. Don't bother, it's just not worth it!

There is little to view and the tour guide was very poor. Much could have been told about the history of the Dublin slums that have now disappeared and it would be a precursor to what is now being laid. Our guide was more interested in telling us about the flat and recording studios of U2!
