Mostar Day Trip from Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Visit the city sights of Mostar, a city on the Neretva River in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this day trip from Dubrovnik, see the Old Bazaar, the Turkish House and historical mosques. After a guided tour of town, you will have free time to visit the old craft shops or enjoy a traditional Turkish lunch at a local a restaurant.

Mostar, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is known as a melting pot of cultures and religions, where east meets west and north meets south. It is a city where a traveler from the north feels the first dashes of Mediterranean air imbued with scents of citrus and sea, and a traveler from the south gets a first glimpse of the continent beyond. A day trip to Mostar from Dubrovnik is definitely a day well spent.

Drive along the coast to Neum and through the picturesque Neretva River Delta. Explore the fortress town of Počitelj, a well-preserved example of oriental architecture perched on a hillside over the river. Continue to Mostar, which during the Turkish rule, was developed on the banks of the river as an important trade center on caravan routes.

During your tour of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, you'll see its historic Old Bridge, the colorful Old Bazaar with traditional handicrafts and a well-preserved traditional Turkish home. The town has exceptional dwellings and monuments that were assembled harmoniously over the centuries thanks to favorable geographical conditions and a sound economic climate.

Shop for handmade local crafts or enjoy lunch during your free time.

A good trip, it was also good to have the special local guide in Mostar. A very helpful and friendly guide from Dubrovnik also.

A long day but worthwhile to experience a town with such recent history. Guided tour was somewhat chaotic with many tours vieing for same positions. Left tour early to get extra free time

A really good trip. Plenty to see on the way and Mostar itself is really interesting. Be prepared for an early start and a long day though.

Fascinating trip with really excellent guides, both on the bus (in a lovely soothing voice - in two languages!) and in Mostar. Highly recommended.

It was nothing special. We saw the bridge, that was it. Not worth the money.

Worth the time to visit the town and enjoyable journey. Prices cheaper than Croatia. Didn't notice the driver drinking beer during a stop or using a mobile phone whilst driving as we did during the trip to Montenegro.

The Mostar tour is a nice tour which takes you to a lovely city. If you come from the western world - this is truly exotic and very interesting and welcoming. If you are from the mideast, take in to account that it is very similar to places you have already been or even live in. It is however a lovely day trip. I have a recommendation - take a bathing suit!!! there is time to have a little swim in the Nerdva river which I wish I had known before. I also wish there woiuld be one other different stop in a new town on the way back as appose to a nearby stop to one we had in the morning. All in all though, a really nice day trip.

This trip was a great day away from Dubrovnik. Saw some amazing sights and scenery. The guide on the coach was excellent, and the tour in Mostar was very informative. It lasted about an hour and a half, and then we got the same amount of time to explore on our own. Highly recommended trip!

Bosnia is still struggling to recover from recent wars and consequently was not very interesting for me. I could have spent this time somewhere else in Croatia, but it was educational. The drive along the coast was beautiful though.

This was an excellent trip that combined beautiful scenery with extremely important observations of the experience of Mostar and current life in Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina. There were two tour guides. The first, who went with us on the bus, was extremely informative and helpful. The second, in Mostar, was a native whose personal perspective gave a special character to the tour. The lessons of Mostar are many. I had not traveled with Viator before but would have no reservation to signing up on another occasion.

We enjoyed this tour. The souvenir stops on the way to and from Mostar we could have done without. However, the city stop on the hillside was quite nice and just about the right amount of time. For the Mostar tour, the visit to the Turkish House was a complete waste of time. We had to wait for 5-6 tour groups to go through before we got in. We would have been better off dropping from the tour before this stop and having a drink overlooking the bridge. I also think they could have done a better job staggering the tours. It seemed like about ten tours arrived at the same time. After the formal tour was over, however, the streets were much more manageable.

Very good guides and lovely coach. Walking tour was very good also and gave a good insight to the city. My only downer on it was having a bi-lingual tour.

The trip could not have been better organized. The pickup was on time, the buses clean and air conditioned and all details taken care of. This is definitely a great day trip to do, tons of history. Unfortunately, I felt the local guide could have given more in depth and informative information than what was given. I was looking forward to hearing about the region and city and got scant details. Perhaps the history of the city is part of the reason for a glossed over presentation but I would have liked more details. Other than that, read up before you go and you'll love this trip!

This was a great experience. The two stops on the way to and from, however, were worthless time wasters and clearly done to pad the wallets of the retail establishments.

If you can spare a day from Dubrovnik, I would definitely recommend taking this tour. Our guide was very informative, and the scenery on the drive to Mostar was stunning, not to mention the city itself. Mostar was much more touristy than we expected, but it was interesting and beautiful all the same.

Surprising how much war damage there still is. Good tour with history and scenery mixed in, definitely think this was good value for money.

The fact that you can still see war damage on many buildings is an eye-opener that will help you grasp the consequences of uncontrolled religious and cultural differences. Mostar is a living monument not only to the mix of religions and cultures, but also to the stability that can be achieved when warring factions finally realize the human cost of not controlling these differences. The day tour was actually too short to take it all in if anything, I would skip the visit to the Turkish home. The latter was, after all, a carefully orchestrated means to sell cold drinks on a hot day! Would rather take in the architecture, geography, and daily life scenes if I were to do it again. If you visit Croatia, take the time for this day tour to see a city that endured more than its share of sorrow in our lifetime.
