Loch Ness, Glencoe and the Highlands Small Group Day Trip from Edinburgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Take the high road to the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness on a small group day trip from Edinburgh. You'll travel through beautiful Glencoe, admire the spectacular Highlands and spend time at Scotland's famous Loch Ness - an absolute must on any visit to Scotland!

With a maximum group size of 16 passengers, you are sure to have a memorable and personal experience on this special day trip to the Scottish Highlands. Traveling in a small group means you can reach out-of-the-way places to discover the real Scotland!

Leaving Edinburgh, you'll pass Linlithgow Palace (birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots), Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, to reach the most dramatic of all Highland glens, Glencoe. This area is steeped in history, and you will hear the truth about the infamous 1692 massacre of Clan MacDonald.

Journeying through Fort William, site of the military post built during the Jacobite Rebellions in the 18th century, you'll continue up the Great Glen, between Fort William and Inverness.

After lunch at Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness, you have the option of taking an hour-long cruise on the loch (not included). The boat has a sonar system, so if Nessie is around you will not miss her! (Operational from Easter to end October.)

Back on the road, you'll stop at Spean Bridge before heading through the Cairngorms National Park, Craig Meagaidh and along the shores of Loch Laggan, where the TV series Monarch of the Glen was filmed. Continuing over the Drummochter Summit, where herds of red deer often graze, you'll visit the Victorian town of Pitlochry, the final stop for the day.

Trip was beautiful, I loved every second of it, the driver was full of knowledge and new all areas well and showed it all lovely in a relaxed time, I will book another one after getting all my friends to do as a group trip specially with our driver - as our guide and driver, it was one of the best trip I ever had, and hope to go again. I would recommend this trip to everyone who is going to Edinburgh. Highly to do and must do, if someone wants to have a wonderful day out from Edinburgh to Highlands and all then this trip has all five stars. Once again it is a must do trip.

We can't say enough wonderful things about our day tour to Loch Ness through the Scottish Highlands, especially about our tour guide, Audrey. She amazed us with her knowledge of the Highlands, as well as the history of Scotland - we all learned so much! A week later, we're still talking about her and what we learned and saw during our tour. We were lucky to see the Highlands on a day with near perfect weather, and still can't believe we visited Loch Ness - a truly magical place I always thought only existed in storybooks. Thank you Audrey for an unforgettable experience!

The tour was absolutely smashing. Enjoyed from the very beginning to the very end. Our guide Karen was really an amazing lady, knew so much about the history of Scotland especially the Highlands. Weather in Highlands was quite horrible, and was freezing, but apart from that the journey was really amazing.

My family and I truly appreciated the knowledge and history lesson shared by our guide. His passion for his country and its heritage was palpable and infectious. He was truly interesting and had a keen sense of when to stop talking and let the passengers take in the view; especially with a soft background of authentic Celtic music. Our visit to Scotland was a true learning experience due to this tour. There's so much more to the country then the main attractions!! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see and understand the history of Scotland. Just one disappointment: The Loch Ness cruise! It’s not included in this tour and I now understand why!

Fabulous tour, incredibly informative guide and very helpful with tips on purchasing souveniers and where to do so etc. Made some special stops for us photo buffs too so all in all it was a treat. On the down sidewe may have had an issue with one of the pubs recommended to have lunch at as my daughter and I both became quite ill, my daugher eventually requiring a visit to the hospital and it was felt that it was food poisoning (although cannot be proven) Other than that the tour was fabulous and we would recommend it.

This tour was incredible. The tour guide not only knew his information well, he presented it in an extremely entertaining way. It was a long day, but ample breaks were given. This tour really gave me a good sense of the Highlands from the history and culture to the geography and geology of the land. This trip is not to be missed.

Rabbie's tour was very small group 16 people. Shelby was the best, funniest, most cheerful Scottish tour lady! I am so glad we had her in the tour. She tells us stories about Scotland along the long drive and boy can Shelby tell stories! Like she said, she was our driver, tour guide, DJ, and guess what she had to help changing another tour van's tire! I love her.
