Murder and Mystery Walking Tour of Edinburgh

Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Take a look at Edinburgh's dark side, including tales of witchcraft, plague and torture on this Murder and Mystery Walking Tour of Edinburgh. Visit the scenes of many horrific tortures, murders and supernatural happenings as you walk along eerie alleyways an creepy courtyards of the Old Town. Your ghostly guide will blend history with humor and facts with fables, while "jumper-ooters" provide guaranteed ghastly appearances.

Visit the scenes of many horrific tortures, murders and supernatural happenings on this award winning tour of historic Old Town of Edinburgh. Your guide, under the cloak of darkness, is famous Edinburgh character Adam Lyal (deceased), highwayman, who was executed in Edinburgh's Grassmarket on 27th March 1811.

Mr Lyal leads you through the haunted alleyways and dark courtyards of Old Town Edinburgh telling tales of executions and torture, ghosts and witchcraft, and the notorious 19th century trade of body snatching.

Although the subject matter is dark, Mr Lyal's approach is fairly light-hearted. With a ghost as your guide, there will no doubt be a few strange incidents on route, whilst our "jumper-ooters" provide guaranteed ghastly appearances!

Beware! This walking tour takes place in the cobbled streets of Edinburgh in all seasons. In the interests of safety please dress appropriately and wear sensible shoes. You come on this tour at your own risk and it is not for the faint hearted.

It was my first trip to this beautiful country and for a change apart from looking at the fine side for so long, this trip was just the perfect way of knowing the past 'dark times' of Edinburgh! Do this!!!

Our first visit to Edinburgh, this tour was the best. We loved the stories told by Adam, he was brilliant as well as making us laugh, which was a lot. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Now to the monk, he was absolutely hilarious,he made us laugh,he frightened the life out of us,which was great. We are coming back with friends, they would like to do the tour.

The tour was a great experience and the guides were fabulous! Only problem was that my bookings had been mixed-up so we were not on any lists. Although the mixed up bookings the guides solved the issue and we got to join the tour. Many thanks! I recommend this tour to all who are going to Edinburgh and if i ever go there again i will definitely go on these tours for a second time!

Due to a group of 15 not showing up for this tour and only 4 females to add the atmosphere it was a bit sad that we didnt leave this tour for another night!!_br/_ I enjoyed the experience and the added "scares" from a added extra._br/_ This tour was quite entertaining but would have been a lot better with a bigger crowd. Well done guys!

Really great fun! I went along with my teenage children (15 and 17) and they really enjoyed it too! Light hearted, entertaining and generally a good laugh and educational too! Far better value than The Dungeons. Really worth doing!

Absolutely hilarious! If you're up for a laugh and a poor man running around in different costumes scaring the crap out of you then definitely go for it. If children come along they adapt their jokes and stories, but mine had purely adults in it and we were laughing till the end. Obviously apart from when you find out about certain horrific executions. Interesting and a brilliant way to end the night

A most haunting experience. The tour was well presented and informative. The guide the deceased was funny and scarey along side his ghostly friend who added a lot of humor to an otherwise grizzly tale. It was most enjoyable to be going round the old town with these two entertaining guides. They made a cold dark wet November night into a eery, scarey frightfully delighful night. Well done boys.
