Chianti Region Wine-Tasting and Dinner Half-Day Trip from Florence

Florence, Italy

Wine-tasting, scenic drives through magnificent Tuscan landscapes and a traditional dinner in Chanti - is there a better way to spend the afternoon in Tuscany? The Tuscan region of Chianti is universally acclaimed for its classic wines and natural beauty. You'll discover a magical world of woods alternating with vines and olive trees, Romanesque churches, medieval farmhouses, Renaissance villas and castles.

On your afternoon tour you'll visit an ancient Tuscan town and one of Chianti's most renowned castle-farm wine-growing estates. Here, you'll receive insights into the local wine-growing traditions and sample three prestigious wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Reserve and Vin Santo dessert wine. The wines are accompanied by local traditional snacks.

You will end the day with a traditional Tuscan dinner (accompanied by excellent Chianti wine) in the magical atmosphere of an old village among the Tuscan hills. Dinner will be held in the open (weather permitting), so please wear suitable clothing.

The tours are carried out in different areas of the Chianti region, and the trip from Florence to Chianti is approximately 40 minutes each way.

The tour was good, the restaurant not so...Too many people in one little place and the food was very basic.

Our wine tour left from the area near the Florence train station and visited a castle, a winery, a small Tuscany village and lastly a great little restaurant for a group dinner with chianti. The guide was fantastic. Great fun!!!

One of the highlights of our trip. We met an amazing group of people; easy-going and fun. We had a wonderful day visiting the vineyard, tasting the wines, sightseeing in the Chianti region with its magnificent views, enjoying charming towns and finishing with a delicious meal. Guides on excursions need to realize that having fun, enjoying the surroundings and making new friends is the focus of the particpants. Finding a positive, friendly way to support the participants focus and yet maintain the schedule for the days events is an important skill. Our guide for this excursion found it challenging to demonstrate this important skill.

The tour was very well organized and punctual. The winery was enjoyable and informative. Stopping in two towns was a bit much for the half-day tour and would be better to leave first town out. The second was much nicer but we didn't have enough time to enjoy it's charm. The dinner was family style with what looked to me like "beanies and weanies". Very disappointing.

This was the best day of our trip! The Chianti region is sooo beautiful! We enjoyed the tour of the winery and the tasting. There were some snacks to go with the wine. We had a little time to walk through two villages and then went to dinner in a third town. The restaurant was in an old stone building. We felt as though we had entered a time machine and came out 500 years earlier. The dinner was very good, but it was the atmosphere that was 5 stars.

The area visited was fantastic, sadly we cannot say the same for the tour guide. She was painful. Difficult to understand her English and constantly repeating herself. The vineyard that we visited was great, staff there were very generous sharing information about the wine making, history of the area etc. The wine tasting was excellent. The meal/restaurant was reasonable. The trip was also very rushed. We did experience traffic problems leaving Florence so therefore time allowe at all our stops was reduced.

Poorly done. Too many people for educating us on wines. Too much time in the bus.

Great scenery, divine wines at the tasting which was really generous with wine and food, visited 3 little towns with time to wander around, followed by a delicious dinner.

Our tour guide was great, giving us little tidbits of history here and there. The winery was great, with tours of the property and the cellar. The tasting was good too - a little bit of wine and a little bit of olive oil. The tour stopped by three other little towns, which were listed as "must-see"s in some tour books. This is a great way to wine-taste and see some little towns without having to drive the windy roads.

We had a GREAT time on this trip. My sister and I are in Florence for five weeks but wanted to meet some other people, and stumbled across this website online. We mailed wine home to mom and dad from the Chianti winery- they are so excited! Definitely would recommend this trip to others- especially for the price, it was a great deal and we loved every minute of it!

It surpassed our expectations! As well as visiting a lovely winery we saw the Tuscan country side, two lovely villages and had an delightful dinner. A great way to see the region without having to rent a car. We would go again .

This trip started off a little rocky, as our tour guide wasn't the friendliest at first when we were loading onto the bus and starting the trip. But the trip ended up being very very enjoyable and we met many interesting people. It was certainly worth the cost - the wine tasting was practically a meal, with wine flowing and lots of bread, meats, and cheeses. The small towns were very interesting, although I wish we would have been given a map or a list of the place we visited since I can not remember all of them. There is a lot more walking than it describes, and after the wine tasting! The dinner was amazing and not to be missed. At the end of the evening, everyone was full, tired, and happy and you can't ask for more than that.

This is the best tour in our trip in Italy. The breathtaking views of Toscana landscaping are worth the tour. On top of that, the wine with appetizers were excellent with a great tour of the Castel winery. Then visiting charming medieval places and ending with an excellent supper in a wonderful trattoria were more than expected. It is worth the price!!! Bravo!!!

Loved this trip! My only complaint (as was with others on the bus) was that the visit to the second village in Chianti was a waste. We all would have rather spend more time in the first village. There was not enough time to relax and enjoy ourselves! I think most people would agree with this.

A 6 star experience in my opinion. The wine tour was excellent ( the guide was really good) the wine tasting was great - full bottles among a table of 6 people x 3 types of wine was great. The stop in Greve was amazing, the second stop was unnecessary ( can't remember the name of the town) and finally the dinner - it was one of the better meals of the time we spent in Italy. Highly recommend it!!!

This was an absolutely wonderful excursion. The wine, food and scenery were outstanding! The only reason this did not get a 5 star rating was because of the very short time we had to visit Greve and the other village. I think the trip would be greatly enhanced by spending more time in just one village. But otherwise I would recommend this trip to all wine and food lovers!

Not too impressed with the leader - she lacked decisiveness. Wine tasting very good, also coach tour although it was hardly worth stopping at one village as we had so little time there. Meal very disappointing - cool and stodgy.

There was no insight whatsoever. The local guide, if he knew anything, didnt share it. There was zero talk about how wine is made nor the traditions. Calling the three wines we tried prestigious is just plain wrong. The wines were the lowest quality that we drank the entire trip. We spent time on the wine and cheese tasting earlier in the week and even the worst wine therewas better than all three we tried here. The traditional snacks were very poorly done. The tomato bruschetta was tomato paste that was terrible. I wouldnt even call it bruschetta. This tour was a huge dissapointment. The guide on the tour bus knew nothing and she just kept repeating herself without giving any new information. She taught us absolutely nothing about the region, but spoke the majority of the time we were on the bus. I honestly believe we wasted our entire afternoon and evening by going on this trip.

This was a value for money trip. Tour guide was nice. Good to get a chance to se other smaller villages too. Countryside was beautiful, Could have done wth a little more than the 3 wine tastings though, but have to say glasses were generous. It was nice that there was no pressure to buy anything. Meal portions were a bit on the small side.

My friend and I enjoyed this trip very much particularly the trip to the vineyard which was very beautiful. We enjoyed the wine tasting at lunchtime and our fellow passengers were very friendly. Two things I would mention.- perhaps the guide we had on the day could have spoken a little slower as we were sat at the back of the coach and it was difficult to catch everything she said although her italian accent was lovely. In the evening we had a meal which consisted not only of pasta but also beans, chips and sausage which seemed a little peculiar for Italy. Perhaps a different menu would have been better. Having said that this trip was one of the highlights of our week. Thank you.

What a fantastic day! We started at 2 pm for a wine and dinner tour. We had a great tour guide and the winery was beautiful. We would have enjoyed more than one vineyard, but the one they chose was special. I wish we had started earlier as it was daylight savings time and it got dark early so we could not see enough of the countryside. The dinner was great, and plentiful. We enjoyed the tour very much. I give it an A.
