Horse Riding in Chianti Day Trip from Florence

Florence, Italy

Take a day trip from Florence and spend the day horse riding in Italy's famous Chianti region. It's a unique opportunity to explore the beautiful Tuscan countryside, which is renowned worldwide for its vineyards and unparalleled beauty. Led by your friendly and knowledgeable English speaking guide you will be taken on horseback into the Chianti region where most of the region's famous wines are produced. You will ride for 1.5 hours (including training) through vineyards, olive groves and Middle Age villages seeing the Tuscan landscapes at their best.

Before leaving for your ride you'll be given a brief safety introduction and lesson (approx. 30 minutes) where you'll have the chance to get acquainted with your horse. The stables cater for riders of all abilities and beginners are very welcome, as previous riding experience is not necessary. Riding hats (helmets) are provided free of charge and casual clothes can be worn.

Once back at the farm, you are served a delicious Tuscan lunch of Pecorino cheese, prosciutto, salami and bruschetta. After your meal you will have the chance to sample some of the finest Chianti wines (the wine tasting fee is included in the tour, wines are also for sale).

This was a fantastic tour! Highly recommended to everyone, regardless of whether you have riding experience. The guides were all very helpful and knowledgeable. The ride was beautiful and peaceful--and out of 4 of us, I was the only one with any riding experience, but everyone had a great time. After the ride we ended at a winery and got a tour, plus lunch and a wine and olive oil tasting. Then our driver stopped for gelato and a picture stop overlooking Florence on the way back. Wonderful, unique day trip.

This was amazing. I was taken to the area to ride the horse through the vineyard. My horse was a bit lazy but still enjoyed the ride a lot. _br/_ I was the only one who signed up for the horseback riding. So after the ride, I met up with some other people who joined up with similar tours through the same company so we could have a tour through the process of making wine and olive oil._br/_ After the tour we had lunch and were able to taste some of the wine while we ate._br/_ Myself and the others from the similar tours were then taken to a local place that made and sells their own gelato. Then we were shown a house that Machiavelli had lived in towards the end of the tour._br/_ Definitely worth signing up for and every penny spent. I fully enjoyed myself this day.

This tour was beyond all expectations. _br/_ We were transported directly to the ranch and greeted by our lovely guide Julia who got us prepared to ride. The horseback riding was great and Julia answered all of our questions about the ranch and surrounding vineyards. We ended at a world-class vineyard where we were given a great tour of the facilities followed by a 3 course traditional Italian lunch where we were also able to try 2 of their wines. Delicious. _br/_ Afterwards, our driver Matteo, took us to get "authentic" gelato and up to a great spot to look over the region and Florence. He told us over lunch all about the Italian culture, cuisine, etc. He was truly great to us. _br/_ Amazing tour, highly recommended.

Our guide was just a driver - offered no information that we couldn't have got from a leaflet. The horseride was VERY BASIC, in fact, my horse had to be rope led because it didn't want to go anywhere. A big diappointment. the winery was indoors and the sun was shining and would have been beautiful outdoors. The food was quite ordinary and we thought the whole package was overrated and overpriced.

Fantastic tour, everyone who visits Florence should do this. a lovely relaxing glimpse into Tuscany life at a slow pace; watching the beautiful scenery roll by as you ride on the lovely horses. Our wonderful guide, Matteo, took our group, only 6 of us so you get great service and attention, through the land of Chianti wines. Tasty lunch and wine tasting at the vineyards , a tour of the winery and a gelato on the way home. What more could you ask for! Probably have to rate it our best day in Italy. Highly recommended.

This trip was AMAZING! My boyfriend and I were so sad for it to end! The ride was gorgeous, the tour interesting (and not too long, if you know what I mean), and the people friendly and helpful. They even dropped us back off in Florence early enough for us to still do an eveing in the city.

The best day of our trip!!!! Julia our riding guide was great!!! I reinjured my knee getting on the horse, during the ride she kept checking to make sure I was okay. We were in a group of four, the other two riders had never riden. Julia made sure they were comfortable and helped them when needed. She was very animated when talking about her love of the Tuscan countryside and Italian food.

We went in a small group mof just 5 and got to know each other very well...The horse ride was fantastic. Almost 2 hours long. Lunch in the winery was also great...Our wonderful guide, Mateo, then took us up close to the vineyrads and to machiavelli's Tuscan estate. It was a wonderful day!

The horse riding was a highlight of our two weeks in Italy. It far exceeded every expectation. Everything from the ride to and from Florence to the lunch to gelato on the way back to Florence was perfect. Julia, our wrangler was a pleasure and Mateo, our driver, was very professional, fun and informative. I cannot say enough good things!

It was our best day in Italy! A beautiful, meandering horseback ride through grape vinyards, a fabulous lunch, free wine tastings, and stops for gelato and scenic overlooks. They took great care of us and I would recommend this trip to anybody who wants a memorable experience

Wonderful time! The horses were plodders, so the riding experience was not much to write home about; a bit more interaction for us would have been more fun, but we understood that you have a variety of clientele as far as riding experience. Also, it would be simple to provide bottled water for riders since our ride was long and hot. However, our lead was sweet and enjoyable, the scenery breathtaking, the winery interesting and cool, and the lunch delicious!

This trip was unbelievable! It would have been very relaxing if we didn't have to stress about getting back on our cruise ship. The trip was beautiful, however, the people who were supposed to get us to the Chianti region were an hour late, therefore, we were estimated to come back an hour late... The region is about 45 minutes away from Florence (driving), which makes it about 2 hours away from the cruise port. We almost missed our ship. The Italian people are very laid back and don't care too much about the time and schedules. They were very nice though, they took us earlier to the closest place where we could take a cab to the train station to go back to Livorno (port city). The region and horses and our two guides were excellent. The food was great and winery was very nice as well. Even though we had a very stressful time, for those who are not on a strict schedule, we would highly recommend this day trip. It was excellent.

The driver of the van was really cool and knowledgeable. The horse riding wasn't as fun as I thought, the horse was kind of temperamental and at the farm one of the tour people actually kicked one of the horses. I think more experienced riders would have an easier time because they just give you a horse and expect you to know what to do with it.

This was a beautiful way to enjoy some of Tuscany's countryside. Having never ridden a horse before there is nothing to fear, the horses walk at a leisurely pace, and try to eat everything in there sight .The winery tour and lunch were well worth it, good value for the money.

What a day! It started with quite a down pour but when we got to the horses the rain disappeared. There is no way better to see the countryside. It was great our horse guide was delightful. The lunch was out of this world and the tour of the winery and olive processing was great. I would love to do this tour again. Our guides for the day were delightful too. I wish I could remember their names one was similar to Jacob. They were very nice and considerate.

The Riding was great because thankfully i already was a fairly adept rider. the countryside was beautiful, the Guide for the ride was terrible, she didn't explain anything or talk to us at all for that matter. she spent the entire ride talking and texting on her cell phone. I talked with the company that sponsors this tour and they say this isn't the first they have heard of something like this and are in the process of finding a new provider for their Horseback Tour.

The wine tour was fantastic. The horse riding wasn't. We didn't get the half an hour orientation and our tour guide didn't talk to us, we didn't get told what was happening, where we were going or what her name was. When we first arrived we were left standing there for half an hour thinking we weren't in the right spot as no one said anything to us. We weren't sized up for our horses so my boyfriend got put on a horse way too small for him. This horse didn't like cars which was a problem as we were only riding only rocky roads. When the first car came along the horse threw my boyfriend off and actually landed on top of him. Luckily he was ok but the tour guide didn't do anything, she actually told him to just get back on the same horse. I told the company and the driver they hired for the day about this but they didn't do anything to my knowledge. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.

I loved the day trip! Being able to get a tour of the smaller towns of Tuscany, lunch, wine tasting, tour of the winery and horseback riding, it was amazing for only 100euros! I loved how it was away from all the other tourist places and my 2 friends and I were able to spend a day, just the 3 of us, seeing Tuscany feeling very relaxed and not rushed at all. I have told many people about going to Chianti for this day trip and they are so excited already. My best day in Italy by far!

Fantastic small group tour. Our guide was wonderful, very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. He made sure everyone had a great time. Horse-riding was really fun, a little treacherous at times, but it was the lunch that turned out to be the best part! The food was the best we had the whole time we were in Italy, very traditional too. Would rate this highly compared to other tours we took, was much more personal.

The was a lovely day, the farm is stunning - set on a hill overlooking the whole of Tuscany, it's a riding school and they have about 30 horses there. We were met by our riding instructor and she helped us get on our horses and feel comfortable before we sent off. I have ridden most of my life but my boyfriend had never ridden before - he was looked after very well and loved the experience. We walked through the woods and big open fields as we made out was up to the top of the hill for lunch, we ate a delicious 2-course meal with red wine and water followed by yummy Italian coffee. Perfect!

The horseback riding was very simple. It was great for beginners but not so much for experienced riders. The lunch was set in a beautiful location and the food was amazing! The unlimited wine from the vineyards during lunch was a plus! The wine tasting was set in a beautiful castle. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip out to Chianti!

We had high expectations for this trip but left unimpressed. It is not worth the price. The tour guide for the riding provided very little information about the region. The region was beautiful and the horses were well trained. A high point was that the tour guide from Florence was an excellent guide with significant cultural and historical knowledge. The money would have been better spent touring the towns with him.

This was so much fun - the two guides were lovely and very entertaining! The horse riding was great, the venue we had lunch was lovely and the guides couldn't have been more accommodating taking us to a medieval town, and a winery along the way. Note that there is no training given for how to ride the horses - but if I can do it with no prior experience anyone can!
