Tuscany Bike Tour from Florence

Florence, Italy

Ride through the picture-postcard Tuscan countryside on a small group bike tour from Florence. As you ride along on your comfortable bike, feel the cool breeze, breathe in the fresh air, and see Tuscany at its best!

Your full-day bike tour is led by a professional local guide, and tour numbers are limited to a maximum of 22 people. The leisurely tour follows a relaxed pace, with several stops along the way.

Leaving Florence, you'll travel by minivan to the Chianti area just outside the city. Pedaling along narrow shaded roads lined with old stone walls, you'll ride past romantic olive groves, vineyards, medieval castles, and hillside villa estates. When you reach your destination you'll be rewarded by breathtaking panoramic views of Florence and its surroundings.

You'll also visit a local wine estate and see the vineyard and cellars, taste Chianti wine and learn about winemaking, plus taste local extra virgin olive oil.

The tour includes a traditional Italian lunch, including bruschetta, pasta and wine, to refresh you for your ride back to Florence. Join this small group bike tour for a magical day out in the beautiful countryside of Chianti.

This was an awesome tour, and by far the highlight of my stay in Florence. We were picked up in a van around 9am and dropped off 20 minutes outside the city. From there, we rode through the hills to a functioning winery. We were able to tour the facilities to see how wine and olive oil are made, and wine tasting was included before lunch. On the ride back, we stopped for gelato in a small hilltop town. We even got "the whistle," the way that bikers say hi to each other on the road! The ride wasn't too difficult - there were a few hills, but it was easier than the climb to the top of the Duomo or the hike to Piazza Michelangelo. The winery tour and tasting was a great introduction, as I have never done anything like it before. This is not the tour for people interested in a challenging bike ride or those looking for a luxurious wine day, but I would recommend this trip to experience the incredible views of the Italian countryside. Five stars- the tour guide was great, the views are spectacular, and a bike certainly beats the clouded windows of a large tour bus.

The tour was great, the bike ride included great views and the guide provided great in-site of the region, wine, oil, and history. Would recommend this tour for people interested in seeing the landscape and enjoying the bike ride. The wine tasting and food was OK. Seeing the olive oil making process was very good.

The tour was wonderful. A great mix of exercise and fabulous sites. The lunch and tour of the winery and olive oil productucing was an added bonus. Our guide, Joseph, was terrific.

Loved the Bike tour. Kelly, our tour guide, did a great job guiding us through Tuscany. The hills are difficult, but the views are worth the effort. One of the highlights of our trip.

This was as advertised, a break from the churches, museums, and crowds of Rome/Venice/Florence. AND some much need exercise. This tour took up a good part of the day, rode though some beautiful countryside, toured and dined at a lovely wine and olive oil facility. DO THIS!!!!!

Excellent Tour, but this is not for beginners and is not an easy bike ride. There are a lot of hills and it will be difficult if you are not ready for it. The olive oil and wine tour was excellent and lunch was delicious. Our guide was excellent and we would recommend this to anyone.

If you are expecting a nice leisurely bike tour through Chianti's vineyards, this trip is NOT for you. My friends and I were completely misled and ended up riding in the car the entire time. The leader of the tour was also incredibly condescending and rude. It was a horrible experience that was only slightly salvaged by the driver who drove our van and gave us a nice tour while we watched the group bike up hills and through highways. The meal that was provided was not tasty and there is essentially no wine tasting at all. Overall it was a complete waste of my day, had I known it was going to be such an intense bike tour I would never have booked it!

Very good tour. Pleasant break from the churches and museums. The tour leader needs to be just a little more experienced and with more insight to the surrounding areas' history, flora, fauna, etc. Very pleasant young guide.

This tour was most enjoyable. We had good weather, the scenery was stunning, and the lunch at the winery was tasty. Our guide Bill was vigilant and gave very clear instructions, so we always knew what to expect. Some of the hills were a bit challenging but doable with the 24 gear bikes provided. (I am a reasonably fit 57 year old female.)

Some of the hills were tough (I would say I'm a moderately skilled bike rider) but worth it. The guide was very considerate about the different levels of ability. I was great to be able to leave the city and see a different side of Florence/Tuscany.

This is a must for anyone visiting Florence! Our American tourguide was well versed in knowledge of the region and accomodated everyone's skill level on the bike while navigating extreme inclines and downhills. Be forewarned...some of the hills in the Tuscan countryside are steep and you should be in somewhat decent shape as they will test your endurance, but it well worth the ascent to coast on the downhills in charming and picturesque wine country with the Alps and the city of Florence providing your backdrop. You won't be disappointed!

This trip was really fun even though it rained. I wish they had given us the option of switching days since it was raining, but I had tons of fun. I would say this was one of the highlights of my trip.

scenery was spectacular and the lunch was amazing. The only complaint we had was the shuttle back to Florence, the 7 of us were put in one van on the way, however coming back we got split up and our kids got on one van and my husband and I didn't get picked up until almost a half hour later. However the overall experience was great, and a great tour guide.

Bike ride and scenery was LOVELY! I really enjoyed it, as well as the lunch at the Corsini vineyard. The 15-mile ride is NOT for the novice, however. My 20-yr old daughter is in good shape, but is not an avid exerciser. She had a tough time with the hills. The tour guide was a bit arrogant and not very genuine, but I could overlook that. The tour-guide-in-training was nicer, but he spent way too much time texting on his cell phone.
