Wurzburg Day Tour from Frankfurt

Travel comfortably by motor coach on this full day trip from Frankfurt to Wurzburg and enjoy the best of both worlds. Join a city tour (Saturdays only) to see the city's main sites and then there's enough free time to set off on your own adventures.

You'll depart Frankfurt early and pass the Spessart Mountains, arriving in Wurzburg at approximately 10:00am. After a short walk to the market square you may pick up your copy of a Wurzburg guidebook at the tourist information in return for your voucher. (Please note that on Saturdays, you are invited to join an English-guided city-tour at 1:00pm instead, which takes you along the major points of interest). Later that day you will also join a guided inside tour of the Residenz, a beautiful baroque castle.

After you have gained some first impressions of Wurzburg take time out for lunch. Just stroll down the road to the Restaurant Ratskeller, where lunch is provided.

The rest of the day is at your leisure. Choose to take a cruise on the river Main, or visit one of the city's numerous wine makers for some wine tasting. Your coach departs again from the main station in Wurzburg, reaching Frankfurt M. station at about 7:30pm.

We were very disappointed. We returned early by catching a train back to Frankfurt. Expected a guided tour. Not to be left to our own devices.

The walking tour must be the first task. We spend time visiting places that the guide visit again. The Residenze visit could be the next. Then, visitors can walk all the afternoon by yourself. The lunch at Ratskeller was really very very bad.

Wurzburg is a wonderful city to explore, it has many historical places to visit and attractions. It's bridge is very much similar to the Statue Bridge in Prague. Unfortunately to see it all in one day was impossible! Lunch included was an excellent 2 course meal. There were no problems with the vouchers included in tour.

The day tour was not what I expected, it was more like a coach ride to Wurzburg with a tour of a few rooms in the palace. We were dropped off at the bus station at 9.30am, and basically left on our own until 5.30. The best part was when we went to the Wurzburg Palatial residence, and the tour guide gave us a very informative and entertaining tour. Lunch at the Ratskeller was awful and limited. Rather than allow us to choose whatever we wanted up to a specific amount, and if need be pay the extra, it was a set menu which was awful. As a result we left Ratskeller and went elsewhere to eat. From 2 o clock until 5.30 we wandered aimlessly trying to kill time.I don't think it was worth the money we paid, and as we were only in Germany for 3 days, I regret wasting it on this trip.

In this tour you are on your own most of the time. The only time you have a guide is in the Residence Palace visit. Otherwise you are given maps and vouchers, and you have to visit this wonderful city on your own. There are plenty of things to see, though, and the included restaurant meal is in a good venue.
