Geneva City Tour, Boat Cruise and Countryside

Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva remains a charming, cosmopolitan hub and the center of the world's peacemaking organizations. Accompanied by a local guide, jump a bus, board a cruise and ride a train through old town for an in-depth half day city tour.

Following the bus tour, get a taste of Geneva's history with the Tramway Tour on Geneva's Mini-Train before you dig even deeper into the Old Town with your guide on a walking tour.

Next you can continue on a one hour commented cruise around the Geneva Lake on the 'Cruise of the Mermaid'. Drinks will be offered on board.

Continue your tour with a drive through the countryside around Geneva, full of charm and history, with the vineyards, the fortified houses and the castles. An excellent complement to the City Tour, ideal for romantic souls.

The tour, what we saw of it, was very enjoyable. However, we signed-up for the Geneva City Tour, Boat Cruise and Countryside. When we arrived, the tour company told us that effective THIS year, they were only offering the City Tour and either one, but not both, of the other two.

Good tour, but the weather was bad and I picked the wrong day (Sunday) so that all the wineries in the countryside were closed...

It was nice to be taken through the city of Geneva but it seemed to be very brief. It's mainly a bus tour that takes you to all the important and historical sites. I would of liked to have a foot tour next time. Had to take most pics from a bus and 50% of the time....sites would be on the opposite side of the bus which made it hard to take photos. The boat cruise was nice but it didn't get nearby any sites.....I felt like we should have been able to get a bit closer. Everything had to be viewed from a distance.

Tour was good. Guide was difficult to understand and hear at times. Spoke to fast and since we booked an English tour, we would have preferred a guide who spoke fluent English.

Overall - the trip was ok. Seeing Geneva by bus is definitely not my thing. On this particular trip, the AC wasn't working for the first part of the bus ride so that was unpleasant. The AC was fixed for the 2nd part of the but tour. The faux train trip in Geneva was nice because the weather was pleasant. Boat trip was great -weather cooperated and the view from the lake is phenomenal. Overall - I give the tour a 7 on a 10 scale. Ok, but not great.

Great tour. I would recommend the 4 h tour instead of the 5h. The last part Geneva Countryside was a waste of time. The city tour and boat tour were absolutely great.! Don't miss it, especially if you visit Geneva for the first time.

Tour guide not effective - couldn't understand with a strong French accent. No walking tour through the Old Town. Sights weren't pointed out. Countryside ride 2 hours of riding up and down winding country roads with no commentary. Guide only impressed us with the fact that she lives in France but works in Switzerland where she can make 3 times as much money.

Tour structure was good. Toilet breaks were either non existant or the toilets on the boat cruise did not work. The tour guide really did not care. We cut out half way through.

Well balanced, but once or twice it felt a bit brisk, as we were not able to stop for photos, but it ensured a lot was fitted in and helped to decide where to return to, and we accept that the guide had to ensure it ran to time as the next element was waiting in the wings. In all a great start to a 3 day holiday.

I really enjoyed the walking tour of Geneva portion. The Boat Cruise could of been better, I was bored, I would of enjoyed the cruise more if its wasn't so long and also because the information given on the City Tour was similar to the info on the boat cruise. The countryside was beautiful! Make sure you have lots of rest before this tour, it's a very long trip! Our tour guide was great!

We used Viator twice, at Rome-Italy and Geneva-Switzerland. Their service was excellent, buses were on time, and very comfortable. Every penny spent was well worth it. We will recommend Viator without any hesitation.

The entire bus tour was totally boring, and our tour guide was informative but made us all very sleepy. The only thing I liked about the trip was the boat trip, but the rest is not so much. If you're going to Geneva, I highly recommend the Chamonix Mont-Blanc trip, which can also be booked through Viator.

I thought that the mini train portion of the trip in old town was not as interesting as it could be. This is because the recording describing the area as we traveled around was monotone and repetitive. The boat tour was nice and scenic. The highlight was the bus tour of the countryside. I felt this was the case because the tour guide made it more personable and she was energetic and informative. The bus driver also brought in his own sense of humor and made the trip more memorable because of it.

Overall, a good trip. The guide was very efficient and friendly and getting from each part of the tour went very smoothly. The guide was very welcoming and I would recommend this tour to anyone on a first visit to Geneva as a good orientation tour.

A wonderful way to see Geneva, especially if you're only there for a short time. The city tour was informative and the views from the boat were spectacular. We found the ride through the countryside interesting as well as relaxing, once again with beautiful views! Great tour guide, comfortable bus, pick up/drop off point was centrally located, a lot of bang for the buck!

The tour was worthwhile. The only thing I would add is that the tour needs to make time for a bathroom break. The city tour was great and informative, the boat cruise was okay, but the country tour was spectacular! I would suggest a separate country tour with a stop at one of the wineries for a wine tasting or a stop at one of the village shops for a drink.

This was a great trip for our first day in Geneva. We got to see the countryside around Geneva, tour a portion of the lake, and then see the best of the Old Town. This made it easy to decide what we wanted to go back to on our own. Our guide was wonderful. She was well informed, spoke excellent English, and was able to answer any questions that we had.

There is a lot to see in Geneva City, alone! While we passed a lot of places, I would have liked to stop and get off of the bus at more than a few of them. The tour was a great way to see where the sights were and pick the ones I wanted to go back to and spend more time at.

City tour was OK but they should give their client few minutes out of the bus to enjoy the place like picture taking. Boat cruise was excellent. Countryside was not as nice as we were expecting.

I had to take a three-hour train from Geneva from Zurich for this tour, so my expectations were high. It was raining, but that didn't matter. The tour was excellent, including the guide and the city train.

The best bit of the city tour was the little train ride in the Old Town. The tour was a little disappointing as there was not a lot of narration regarding the history of the city. Also, the tour operator needs to have separate tours in different languages: It was overwhelming to hear three languages, spoken very fast, one behind the other._br /__br /_The boat tour was well done! The company could work on the drinks and give alcoholic beverages. The choices were orange juice, water, and a sparkling nonalcoholic wine. The boat tour itself is very cheap, and for the price we paid, we should have gotten alcoholic drinks._br /__br /_The countryside tour was better than the city tour because only English was spoken. But the tour was a little long, as you see mostly the same things in each town. All in all, I would do all three again, but there are some improvements to be made.

What a great way to see as much as possible of Geneva and its surroundings, especially if you don't have a lot of time in the city. The only thing that frustrated me is that we didn't get any breaks at all from 1:30 p.m. until almost 6 p.m. when the tour finished. It was full on the whole time. So my advice is to have a good lunch before you go and take some snacks with you!
