The tour was great but there was very little English from the tour guide. Jokes were being made in German and no explanation in English about the sits seen. There were no English ear plugs for translation

We enjoyed the H0-on Hop-off Tour very much indeed. During the day we traveled on 4 or 5 buses with all Tour Guides speaking very good English. All in all the tour very good and good value for money.

We use the red hop-on hop-off double decker wherever we go so we know the brand well. We were very surprised that on our bus there was no multi choice language audio system. The guide spoke through a microphone. If we had been German or fluent in German we would have had what was obviously a well informed and apparently very humorous visit. However the descriptions in English were, to say the least minimal, spoken at speed in a thick accent very difficult to follow. Hamburg franchisee should ensure that their buses are up to date with audio multilingual. if they are not don't use them, use one of the other competitors who have.

I bought the bus AND boat tour online, the coupon they emailed me only said 'bus', I called to confirm by phone that my tour was indeed both and over the phone they said YES... but when i got to the tour boat I couldn't get on because my coupon didnt say boat on it. SO I had to buy two more tickets for the boat so I wouldn't miss the tour. By the way... the tour cruise was nice.

We did not realize that this tour was commentated in German, and so it was difficult to follow what we were seeing. The commentator did speak English quite well, and was happy to answer any questions.

Tickets, unfortunately, were not interchangeable on other coloured buses..._br/_ Commentary in 2 German and English was very basic in its content; buses did not stop at designated stops as marked, but carried on UNLESS you tell the guide prior. The tour bus only stopped one place to "Hop-on/Hop-off" so the name is misleading._br/_ Also, I only speak English, and certainly did not get the same tour as the German speakers. The guide would talk for 2 minutes in German and then in English say, "Right hand is the oldest post office in Hamburg." This was very frustrating. Also, no world war II history was discussed during the tour. I understand it is a sensitive topic to Germans and was not promised, but prospective tour guests should be aware of this. Other than that, the people were nice, the bus was clean, and it indeed did last 2 hours.

The guide spoke just enough English to be understood for most attractions while concentrating on German - of course. They only allow you to do one complete lap. Should be unlimited for a day so that you can go completely around and then hop-on-off. Overall a great time and we highly recommend it for first time visitors at least.

We were extremely disappointed with this tour. The voucher said that we were supposed to go on a Hummebahn tour- when we reached Hamburg, the bus guide told us that it's not running any more. The boat trip guide spoke entirely in german. We were told that the next english speaking guide would be available next day at 12 noon but our voucher was valid for only a day. The bus tour guide spoke barely in english and even then, her english was difficult to understand, so we missed out on the significance of many things we saw. As she was sitting some distance away, we had to ask about certain places we were interested in, such as where the Beatles stayed, about the tropical diseases hospital etc after we got off. However, the bus guide didn't forget to mention that we were very welcome to give her a tip and she said that in very clear english, much better than her commentary!

Buses very cold even when covered. Commentary by a live person who was geared toward German tourists and not easily understood by English speakers. Felt out of place. Didn't enjoy at all. Tour centered on buildings and red light district, really because Hamburg isn't much of interest at all.

If you have half a day to spend in Hamburg, this is a good option. The terminal is directly outside the train station and you'll get a brief overview of the city.

We were disappointed in this tour, not anything like Berlin's. You had a tour guide that spoke German and English. First guide kept asking if anybody needed English, seemed like he didn't want to speak English. Second guide spoke German for ten minutes and then one sentence of English. Third guide spoke German the entire time, no English. Did not stop at every stop and did not even slow down to get a good picture. With the language problems, we never knew what building, etc. they were talking about. Sometimes we were completely past the sight when they would say something in English.

Tour was a very good value. The only problem was that, only knowing English, I would hear the tour guide say paragraphs in German about the tour, and when it was translated it to English, it would end up being a single sentence--I would imagine because the tour guides are not very fluent in English.
