Ho Chi Minh Cyclo and Walking Small Group Adventure Tour

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Explore the vibrant streets of Ho Chi Minh City on foot and cyclo on this small group adventure tour. Travel like a local as you discover Ho Chi Minh City's many sights. Get a taste of colonial days at the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral, see the beautiful central post office and get an insight into the horror of modern war at the War Remnants museum.

Hop into a traditional cyclo, a three-wheeled bicycle with a carriage at the front for you to sit in, while the driver pedals you through Ho Chi Minh City. Take in the sights, sounds and smells of Ho Chi Minh City without the barrier of a car window or the sound of an engine.  Travel through Tao Dan Park to the War Remnants museum, originally opened in September 1975, the museum displays old military equipment and other related items from the Vietnam War including some larger exhibits including a F5A fighter and a UH1-Huey helicopter. Continue passed the Reunification Palace, previously known as the Presidential Palace, the sight of the official South Vietnamese surrender on April 30th, 1975. Entry is not included but you will have the opportunity to take photographs.

Leaving the cyclos behind walk to the Notre Dame Cathedral and the General Post Office, both fine examples of French colonial architecture. Join up again with your cyclos and ride to the Saigon Opera House and City Hall where scenes from the movie "The Quiet Amercian" were filmed.

Leaving behind the cyclos , walk towards the Ben Thanh market where you can practice your language skills bargaining for souvenirs, clothing and knick knacks. The market itself has an interesting history.  Its original location was close to the Ben Nghe River and the old fort of Gia Dinh before it was destroyed in 1859 during the French invasion of Saigon. It was rebuilt and later moved to its present location in 1899.

At the end of your tour, you are free to continue exploring the area or your guide will assist you in getting a taxi back to your hotel.

Would recommend this tour, whilst its pretty easy to get around and see these sights yourself, it just adds to the experience on the cyclo and with the tour guide being very informative on all of the stops. War museum is a must if you are interested in the history of Vietnam.

Not to be missed if you are a thrill seeker. To be a part of 7 million motorcycles on the road is a real up close and personal experience.

As I had been to Ho Chi Minh City previously I was taken to places that I had been to before - I thought there would be more walking but it was all in the cyclo. I couldn't understand a word my guide said - his English is very poor. At the end of the tour the guide wanted me to tip HIS motorcycle driver, not the guy who was driving me around. I found the tour a waste of time - I was hoping to see a different side of the city, not the usual tourist attractions.

Great tour - "Viet" was very imformative and gave context to what we were seeing. As I was only in HCM for a short time I felt I saw everything I wanted to. Having time to visit the War Museum was a bonus. Very happy with the tour.

A pleasant way to get oriented in district 1 on your first day in Saigon. Cyclo gives you a much better view of whats going on in the street than a bus or taxi. Stops along the way were all interesting.

The cyclo tour was really a feel of the sights and sounds of Saigon. It was what we needed for a being explanation of the city's main attraction. Though, our guide was not that articulate, I would still recommend this tour only to those who have little time and wants to know Saigon in a brief.

This was fun! We were picked up right on time and taken around HCMC by cyclo. The riders were very nice as was the guide who rode on a motorbike close to the cyclos. His knowledge and information was great and he gave plenty of time at each stop to have a look around and take photos. I would recommend this small tour as a great way to see the city basics and get your bearings.

It was a facinating tour with a well versed guide. The "rickshaw" style transport was quite an experience in the Saigon traffic, which added to the charm of the tour. It was certainly Value for Money at 15US.

It is a nice way to look at the town. Great experience in the middle of the traffic. A good way, if you don't want to spend too much time. The only small problem is, that the ciclo driver don't speak English and the guide is on a motorbike

Was the only person on the tour. The guide followed or went ahead up front by motorbike while I was on the cyclo, so I didn't really know anything along the way as the cyclo man didn't speak English. The guide did explain things before I went into places alone. Seemed a bit short as it only last 3 hours. But a good experience anyhow.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

Tour guide and cyclo drivers were really pleasant and nice. Could have been better if we were given time to stop in front of city hall and opera house, also some walk time at the Saigon riverfront, instead of non-stop cyclo round to the Ben Thanh Market from the Post Office.
