Travel to the heart of the Mekong Delta on this small group adventure tour from Ho Chi Minh City. You'll board a private longtail boat, experience the diversity of the Mekong waterways first hand as you explore fish farms, exotic fruit farms and dine on traditional Mekong Delta food.

Travel to the city of My Tho, a 2.5 hour journey, by air-conditioned mini-coach.  A former naval base, My Tho is now a bustling port city in the Mekong Delta.  The area is the final destination of the Mekong River which winds its way from Tibet, China, Burma, Laos, Cambodia and finally Vietnam. An incredibly fertile region its prime industry is food production, producing approximately half of Vietnam's total agricultural output.  Life for villagers in the area revolves around the rivers and canals that make up the delta, people are more likely to transport by river than by road.

Upon arrival into My Tho you'll board a private boat for a cruise on the Mekong River. On the boat ride your local guide will take you to visit an island with lush tropical gardens where you'll have a chance to sample tropical fruit. You'll continue to another island in the Mekong Delta, you'll learn more about another cottage industry, coconut candy. Your local guide will take you to a coconut candy factory and explain the process of making this sweet. You'll have a chance to visit local villages in the area and learn more about the traditional lifestyles, culture and customs of people who call the Delta their home. Continue by Xe Loi (motorized cart) to a bee farm where you'll transfer to a smaller rowing boat allowing you to get deeper into the smaller canals of the Delta.

Sample the local Mekong cuisine at the Diem Phuong Restaurant where lunch is served.  After lunch you'll return to My Tho for the journey back to Ho Chi Minh City.

i saw the tour in my hotel at a ridiculous price so i went on the internet. viator were offering the same sort of tour at a much better price so i booked it online with them, i got instant confirmation with a phone no i could ring in Saigon. i did this and was told " yes they would be there the next morning" which they were !!. the tour itself was superb and the guide was very informative. It worked out that from the time I booked the tour, to finishing it barely 24 hrs had gone by. very professional and highly recomended.

Really enjoyable trip, nice to get out of the city and explore the surrounding area. Lots of different forms of transport and very interesting, only thing lacking was interaction with the locals, we were shown lots of places where they were trying to sell us things, but it would have been nice to find out more about how people live there. Overall very good though...

Fantastic day trip and a great chance to see rural Vietnam after the modern skyscrapers of Saigon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and great fun, and went out of her way to make sure we got the best from the day. We booked this tour before we left for our holiday. The reviews were awesome so we didn't think we could go wrong. Our tour guide Phat was so funny and gave us lots of history and information on Vietnam. The food was great and well worth it. I'd recommend for anyone traveling to Vietnam to experience this tour.

Was disappointed even before the tour started. Waited at scheduled time as instructed by Viator but no one turned up nor did anyone from their office rang up to our hotel reception to inform us what was going on. Was anxious so rang their office and was told they will be late. Disappointed with late pick up of about 40mins. Anyway, would rate Mekong Delta tour with a score of only 5 out of 10. No bottled drinking water provided and lunch was sub-standard. Tours on the island itself is quite unique but pretty commercialised.

Fantasic tour, very well organised, tour guide spoke very good english and was very polite and helpful. Did a few tours in Vietnam but the ones booked through Viator were the best value for money! Was a great day only draw back was lunch if you dont eat fish, you dont get much to eat. :-)

This was an amazing tour! From the moment of our pick up from the hotel we were impressed with the service, tour content and ease with which we traveled. Our guide, Houng, was so friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. Highlights included a ciclo-rickshaw ride through narrow village straights, amazing boat and river tour and sumptuous lunch. Very good value for money I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the region that wants a snapshot of the 'real' Vietnam.

This trip was our favorite part of our week-long trip to Vietnam (HCMC). The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke English very well. The amount of things you do on the trip (boat rides, coconut factory) and the things to eat (fresh local fruits, a delicious lunch) was amazing for the price paid. The Delta was gorgeous and there were always things to see during the boat rides. I would highly recommend this trip, even if you have a view days in the country.

This tour is a great way to discover the Mekong Delta and see local villages, tasting yummy coconut sweats and banana drink. The visit to the coconut farm was very interesting, to see how the whole extraction and preparation process. The lunch was delicious and plentiful, served on a floating restaurant nestled in the mangrove. Cruising along the Mekong River was relaxing and a quick way to get around the island. Definitely recommended!

This was a cool trip, visiting the farms nice and with interesting activities. From the short cruise, we were able to visit different villages, testing lots of from local food, including the lunch that was plentiful and where we tasted the impressive Elephant Ear fish! Good to be on a small group, makes the trip experience much more enjoyable.

A fantastic tour! One of the best tours that I have ever done. We had a lovely guide. It was great not to be in such a big group (we had the max of 12). The lunch was lovely. The tour really gave an insight into how many Vietnamese people live and work. It was fantastic to see rural Vietnam. Bring a decent amount of money as a few stops are made at unique places to purchase some things (ie. coconut candy factory, snake wine).

This tour was one of the highlights of our VietnamCambodia holiday. The Guide was exceptional and had a special rapport with the locals which enhanced our experience. The only downside was that when booking this tour the itinerary described a visit to a floating village which we did not do. We, along with another person on the tour addressed this with the guide and now note the tour itinerary has been changed on the Viator site. In saying this though the tour was memorable and most enjoyable and we would highly recommend it.

Guide was very enthusiastic and lively which already made this tour fun. There were 4 types of transportation on this tour which were very interesting especially the sampan ride, a traditional small boat. Lunch was beautiful local food and the tropical fruits we sampled earlier were so sweet! By chance we ran into our guide from this Mekong trip on another day, and he was so excited to see us. He was really friendly even though we were not on his tour and suggested places for us to eat in HCM! So even if tours booked locally in HCM are a lot cheaper for the same written tour, nothing beats a Viator tour with a good guide and comfortable transport! I would so choose Viator anytime as I've had a good experience from all the tours I've booked to date. Even in Europe!
