2-Day Troy and Gallipoli Tour from Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey

Depart Istanbul early and head for Gallipoli, Anzac Cove, Lone Pine Cemetery and other famous memorials from World War One. Crossing the Dardanelles, you'll spend the night in Canakkale.

You'll also visit Troy to see the re-creation of the Trojan horse, then you will have the option to spend a leisurely free afternoon in Canakkale or head to Anzac House where you can watch a Gallipoli documentary free of charge before heading back to Istanbul.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Istanbul - Canakkale (L, D)
Depart Istanbul and head for Gallipoli - visiting Anzac Cove, Lone pine cemetery Johnston's jolly (Turkish and Allied Trenches and tunnels), The Nek and hunuk Bair New Zealand memorial. Arrive Canakkale at approximately 6:30 pm and overnight in Canakkale.

Day 2: Troy - Gallipoli - Istanbul (B)
Morning departure for Troy, with its famous wooden horse, return to Canakkale and free afternoon, or for those who are interested, Gallipoli documentary films are shown in Anzac House, free of charge. Depart for Istanbul at approximately 6:00 pm and arrive to Istanbul about 11:00pm and transfer to hotels.

Both guides for Gallipoli and for the trip around Troy were very passionate, informative and extremely professional. They kept their departure times so we were never running late for anything. It was neat that we had Turkish guides as they provided another dimension to this trip. There was a big delay between the time the tour of Troy finished and the time we left Gallipoli, 5-6 hours, but the Anzac Hotel staff were great and played videos of Gallipoli for us, and they allowed us to store our gear there free of charge and to come and go as we pleased. The day tour of Gallipoli is long and quite emotionally draining but highly worthwhile!

Very enjoyable. Guides were knowledgeable and fluent. Transportation was interesting, including a private boat ride both ways across the Dardenells . Everyone was very helpful with my husband' electric mobility scooter. Hotels and food were very adequate for the price.

Both locations were very interesting and very well explained by the local guides. Overnight accommodation was excellent. The long bus trip to and from Istanbul was the only negative and travel by air should be considered.

It was a great trip, well-organised with friendly and informative tour guides and quality hotel. We even got the king of all trojan tour guides and it made the tour of Troy amazing. The only drawback was having to wait 5 hours in the afternoon for the bus back to Istanbul, but this gave us time to look around Cannakale anyway.

I very much enjoyed my two day trip to Gallipoli and Troy. Everything seems to have worked perfectly. The bus picked me up at my hotel at the precise time and delivered me back home. The tour guide to Gallipoli was fantastic and able to provide sufficient detail to heighten the adventure. The upgraded hotel was worth the money. The only confusion was wondering how the second day after the tour to Troy would unfold. We thought we would be leaving in the evening but realized we were to leave at noon which was okay with me. A more tightened agenda and a printed timetable would have solved this problem.

The tour was very well organised, accommodation good and the guide was excellent. This was a very emotional and wonderful experience to visit the place that our very brave and wonderful Aussie's fought and gave their lives. Highly recommended.
