Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam Day Trip from Las Vegas with Optional Skywalk

Las Vegas, United States of America

Hit the highway out of Las Vegas and spend the day touring the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. On this day trip you'll have four hours at the Grand Canyon, with the option of taking the brand-new Grand Canyon Skywalk for panoramic 360-degree views.

Leaving Las Vegas behind, you'll enjoy an approximate 15-minute Hoover Dam Photo Stop from the pedestrian walkway along the new Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge! You'll then travel through the ancient Joshua Tree Forest en route to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon - the road gets a little dusty and bumpy here!

Once at the West Rim you will have 4 hours of unguided time at the Grand Canyon. It's up to you to spend as little or as long as you wish at each of the included attractions.

Attractions include:

  • The spectacular Grand Canyon Skywalk (if option selected) - take a walk over the edge of the canyon on a transparent glass bridge
  • Eagle Point Indian Village, exploring Native American history and culture with replica dwellings and performances of traditional dance
  • Hualapai Ranch Wild West show
  • Lunch at the Hualapai Buffet, Cowboy Cookout or the Skywalk Cafe
  • Spectacular views over the Colorado River at Guano Point
  • Stunning panoramic views of the Grand Canyon from Eagle Point
  • Complimentary Grand Canyon West Express shuttle bus

Travel time between Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is around three hours each way. Your driver/guide will provide an expert commentary along the way, returning you to Las Vegas in time to catch a late show. Motor coaches are climate controlled and equipped with restrooms, reclining seats, video monitors and over-sized windows.

Helicopter / Boat Combo Upgrade:
Why not complete your Grand Canyon experience with a thrilling helicopter flight to the floor of the Grand Canyon. You will be flown 4,000 feet to the base of the Canyon where you will board a pontoon boat for an approximate 15 minute ride on the Colorado River. Enjoy the Grand Canyon Skywalk (if option selected) and enjoy the panoramic view.

Other than some of the tour members not returning on time (some were an hour behind schedule), the trip itself was highly enjoyable. I would recommend this to those who are visiting Las Vegas and nearby cities.

Everything went smoothly. Driver was a little smart-allac, but I think he was trying to be funny. We had to wait on someone that was left behind at the canyon, thus we got back to Las Vegas an hour late. That really messed up our show plans for the evening. The views of the Canyon were spectacular. We didn't do the skywalk because we thought $30 extra was too much since we couldn't take pictures out there. The food was delicious (hot home-cooked barbecue, green beans, mashed potatos, corn on the cob, rolls, cole slaw and chocolate cake.) We were picked up at Excalaber, it was very early, but transfer to our bus to the canyon went smoothly. We loved the videos shown on the bus (Hoover Dam information and Terry Fador). All in all it was a super deal, and a great experience.

Grand Canyon - wow!!!! Excursion - could have been better. _br/_ Not enough time to do helicopter/boat, skywalk , ranch and the various lookouts. Finished helicopter, skywalk and lunch at 2:25 so only had 20 mins left to take photos, visit other lookout and ranch. Not possible. So missed out ranch and only had time to run off bus to take two photos at second lookout area. It would have been nice to look around. Maybe we were victims of being te last group on last bus, so that may be the lesson for the future. Don't be on the last bus as we clearly had less time (even though we were same hotel pick up time)._br/_ Lunch was poor quality and tasteless served by disinterested tribal locals. _br/_ Skywalk was ok but the free views right beside it are better for photos (no glass barriers and you can use own camera). Other than novelty of walking on the glass, I wouldn't recommend that extra. _br/_ In summary, a big day at a great place, lacking in time. The driver was fine and Hoover Dam stop was cool. I would recommend this tour, definitely with helicopter but maybe not skywalk.

First let me say that it was great having someone else drive us to the Grand Canyon, and that the Canyon and the Skywalk was amazing!! The bus tour itself was a complete bust. There were three stops to visit, and we only had enough time to do one because of the extremely long line at the Skywalk, and then the extremely long wait for the shuttle that wasn't big enough to accomodate our group. We didn't get our meal, which we had planned to do at the second stop. We ended up having to purchase a meal at the bus terminal to ensure we would be back at the bus on time. Then we proceeded to sit on the bus waiting for others to get back for 50 minutes! Many on our bus had the same problem and there were a lot of disappointed people. The bus driver, Duane, was funny and personable but the whole waiting and missing 2/3 of the attractions was very aggravating. I wouldn't recommend a bus tour to anyone.

Fantastic day trip with a fantastic driver/guide Manny. Make sure you allow enough time to go to the Ranch and try their fantastic food. Well worth it. Would love to have done the helicopter/boat as well. Skywalk is amazing. DON'T MISS IT!!

The trip had everything - literally........_br/_ It was absolutely amazing at the Canyon. _br/_ The Skywalk was really worthwhile extra._br/_ A must do in fact._br/_ We had a great coach driver (Thomas) and the journey was problem free until our bus went on fire.......honestly!_br/_ This marred the day a bit - as I'm sure you could imagine._br/_ Fortunately everyone was evacuated safely and the party was then collected by another coach. _br/_ The benefits of booking with a reputable company I guess.

Apart from enjoying the whol experience, we were so glad we had booked with Viator beforehand as everything is so overwhelming when you get to LV. They were professional from the start (when advising you and requesting you print off your receipt), to the follow-up in our Hotel. Thank you. S and B

fantastic organisation, each staff member was friendly and honest about the day, length of time and what to expect. Would recommend highly. Thank you_br/_ One disapointment is that the visitor centre attached to the skywalk is unfinished with no notice or explaination as to why? Overall one of the best natural sites seen - ever!

Fantastic trip, Only there were too many bus changes. All we seemed to be doing was getting off of one bus onto another. Apart from that it was a great trip and experience. We didn't do the skywalk because the line was just too long and we did not have enough time. Loved the helicopter and boat ride they were awesome:-) I would reccomend it too anyone who goes to Las Vegas.

It would have had 5 stars, but it is a little rushed. We waited on the skywalk for 2 hours to get on, and missed the last location. Could not understand why bus pickup was 2:45 to get back to Las Vagas, when others had until 3:30, this is also where we lost time. But otherwise i would recommend the helicopter ride above all, best experience.

The trip we took to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam was very disappointing. We believed booking the trip through an EXPERIENCED tour would be the best use of our precious vacation time. The transportation during the excursion was outstanding. The information on the bus was indispensable. The organization of patrons as well as the wait for the attractions were UNACCEPTABLE ! We waited 2 1/2 for the opportunity to walk on the extra charge SKYWALK and were unable to complete the entire tour due to time. Once back on the Coach to return to Las Vegas we waited an entire hour before departing due to the wait for one family . If we had known being late was an option, we could have received our family skywalk photo as well as complete the tour. The organization needs to be overhauled and organized like a real tourist attraction ! BUYER BEWARE !!!!!!!!

This trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is so worth the money! The company has the itinerary down to a science - there's nothing left for you to do but enjoy! Our tour guide, Tomas, was quick witted and charming. He did a great job with a bus load of people! We chose to do the whole tour - from the skywalk to the helicopter and boat ride. We didn't feel rushed because we took Tomas' advice on how to spend our 3 1/2 hours at the canyon. He knew exactly the best way to fill the time, the best place to eat the included lunch (delicious, by the way), and when to shop. The only time I wish we didn't have to spend waiting was in line for the Skywalk. They allowed only about 20 people out at a time largely because they want to make more $ on pictures. That ate up about 45 minutes waiting, which was not the tour operators fault. All-in-all a great way to spend the day.

Do not go on the Grand Canyon Skywalk!! Total waste of money. You stand in line for an hour for maybe 5 minutes of walking. You can't even take pictures from it, they take your camera away before you can walk out there.

This tour was well organized. Driver Duane was very knowledgable and had the group of us laughing with his funny jokes. _br/_ The highlight was the helicopter decent into the canyon and boat trip in the Colorado River. Amazing views. Amazing Experience. _br/_ The only downfall to this trip is that it would be great to have more time for each stop/activity. Viator may want to consider expanding the length of the day for people who have chosen all of the possible activities. I would, and have recommended this tour to others.

We went on the Grand Canyon Tour on Monday the 19th March 2012. Our Coach driver was Mike and the bus was called Jannett, Mike was the best tour guide we have ever had. He was very informative and fu nny, even when we were at the drop of point on the Canyan he was helping people and was just so happy all of the time. We recommend anyone that wants to go on the trip travel with Viator.

Very good trip, a must see when you go to Las Vegas. Pick up came in the exactly time and check in on Airbridge office was well organized. I thought we had enough time to explore the Canyon by ourselves... Our drive (Duane) was very funny and keep us laughing all the trip...._br/_ The only "bad" thing on the trip was the lunch... it was not horrible, but do not expect too much..... also, nothing much to see on Hualapai Ranch....

The Grand Canyon and Skywalk were wonderful. The trip was very well organized and lunch was great. Our only issue was our bus driver. We had difficulty understanding him and he talked too much during the bus ride to the canyon. Overall though it was worth the money to go by bus rather than drive ourselves.

Wow!!! What views, so worth doing, can´t be missed. It is a long day and what with changing coaches it is still worth doing. You can´t go to Las Vegas and not see the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon!!!!! We didn´t pay extra for the Skywalk as we thought this was pointless seeing as you were not able to take your camera or video camera.

Great tour operated by Airbridge company, you will be amaized by the grandeur of the Grand Canyon. Tour is very well organized and the tour guide/driver told a lot of interesting facts on a way there and back. The tour from Las Vegas takes about 4 hours driving to the canyon (but I didn't find it tiring). The driver takes you to the Grand Canyon travel centre, from where you will be given 3-4 hours of free time. In this time you will need to take shuttle buses to lookout points and a farm (7-10 minute ride). There are two major lookouts on the West Rim: Eagle point and Guano point. Skywalk is situated at Eagle pont, and truly I find that Skywalk was a waste of money as you are not allowed to take your camera with you plus there will be photographers who make people do funny poses even lie down on the floor and you can buy their pictures. I would rather recommend going to Guano point (my favorite for views) where you can wonder on you own and will be able to see 360 degrees panoram of the canyon - magnificent.

I tremendously enjoyed my day. It was windy but still an amazing sight. Everyone was very nice but there was a great deal of changing buses and that could be a bit of a hassle. Our driver was nice but a bit indecisive. First he told us the video and sound system did not work. He later got it working and then told us we had a choice of two videos. He announced the names and then asked us if we would rather sleep. He had people cheer. He decided that more people wanted to sleep rather than watch a video. Perhaps he should have put a video on and then let the people sleep if they wanted to sleep. It was an especially long trip because some wires blew down and we turned around a few times. It was not the fault of the bus driver but that video might have been nice. Inspite of some craziness, my husband and I enjoyed our day. We did miss our evening show because we arrived back later than expected but the trip was worth the price.

A great trip! We had some really good bus drivers that were informative and very personable. The trip was long - 13 hours, but well worth it with breath taking views of the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. We had lunch at the Hulapauli Ranch - barbecue ribs and chicken with great sides. All in all a very fun day with so much to see.
