Alentejo Wine Region and Évora Day Trip from Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal

Explore the historic town of Évora and the beautiful Alentejo wine region on a day trip from Lisbon. Enjoy a guided walking tour of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage town, and see landmarks like the Roman Temple, the Romanesque Gothic cathedral and the Bones Chapel. Take in views of the Alentejo wine region on the drive to Azetaio, where you will visit a wine cellar and enjoy a wine tasting.

Meet your local guide in central Lisbon or enjoy free pickup from your Lisbon hotel, and head out on an exciting journey into Portugal's countryside. Relax on your comfortable coach on the drive out of Lisbon, and take in views of the Tagus River and the 25th of April Bridge - Europe's longest suspension bridge - as you leave the city behind.

Admire the lush Portuguese countryside on a scenic drive through cork and olive forests toward the fabled town of Évora, the capital of the Alentejo region, located 81 miles (130 km) southeast of Lisbon. When you arrive, enjoy a walking tour of this UNESCO World Heritage town with your guide. Explore the diverse heritage that Évora offers, including the ruins of the Roman Temple, the Romanesque Gothic cathedral, the Bones Chapel and Évora's university.

Next, enjoy free time to explore Évora's charming streets on your own and have a traditional Portuguese lunch at a local restaurant (included).

Sit back and relax on your coach as you continue your full-day tour through the Alentejo region. In Azetaio, stop at a renowned wine cellar that has been producing wines for over a century. Enjoy a guided tour of the winery and finish with a wine tasting of the famous Moscatel de Setúbal, before you return to your hotel in Lisbon.

Great service! Hotel pick up and drop off. Great narration by guide. Lunch was fantastic with generous servings and ample supplies of local wine. One of our best tour experiences.

They assigned us on a group were the majority of the people spoke Portugese, so every time we had to wait for a VERY LONG explanation in Portugese, followed by a SHORTENED version in English. The morning part was interesting, the Roman Ruins are a VERY SMALL area in the town, not worth traveling so far to see. The afternoon part of the trip was a total waste, they took us to a winery were a "local tour guide" gave a great tour of the property in Portugese, followed by a very sad translation provided by our tour guide in very deficient English. There are other things to do, do not waste a day of your vacation, very expensive trip, total waste of money and time. DO NOT RECOMEND

The guide was nice but talked way too much and too long on every topic, not breaking up the Portuguese and English segments. The side trip to the Fonseca winery was an added bonus, but we had to wait around for another group to join us and then were rushed out at the end during the tasting/chance to buy wine. Lunch, however, was great!

Bus trip somewhat disorganized (had to take cab to meeting spot). Tour in 3 languages (had to wait for other 2 to be presented). Guide very knowledgable. Winery was so-so. Lunch at restaurant was excellent wilth great variety. All in all a worthwhile trip.

We lost people from the tour and that put us late. Our guide should have been more explicit. She should have given us a time to wander and meet her back at the entrance of the stops. Also, she was not very loud talking about the tours. She should have stated to us that she would explain in Portuguese to that group, then in Spanish to that group, and so on. We that were English could not get close enough to hear her.

The tour was very badly organized. We struggled to get reach of the tour agent and there was NO hotel pick up. The attractions in Evora weren't good enough for a day tour with a lot of hours on the bus.

The trip was quite disorganized at the start. The hotel pickup was prompt and on-time but not at all friendly. It wasn't clear that we were being transported to a central point to meet up with our actual tour. Once we got to the central point, there was confusion and chaos for nearly 20 minutes and 2 bus changes to get everyone settled. The tour itself was quite good and the guide was personable and knowledgeable. The tour included lunch and it was the first time this particular place had been used. There was a wedding that afternoon so we were placed in a hallway near the bathrooms away from the main area although the wedding was not scheduled for a few hours. The food and service were fine and we received complimentary wine, but the atmosphere could have been better. We thoroughly enjoyed Evora and recommend the trip if the logistics can be worked out.

We only had three people on the tour, my husband and I and a nice lady from Brazil, but it went on. I loved our guide.
