2-Day Rail Trip to Paris from London

London, United Kingdom

With France situated only a few miles across the English channel, a little over 2.5 hours away on the Eurostar, you won't want to miss this opportunity to spend a night in the City of Lights.

Depending how you prefer to travel, you have the choice of a fully independent or an escorted tour.

INDEPENDENT:
Board the Eurostar, sit back and relax, arriving into Paris in just 2 hours and 40 minutes. On arrival into Paris Gare du Nord the rest of the day is free for you to explore Paris. Your accommodation is in a centrally located 3 star hotel.

Whilst in Paris you can use your ticket on the Hop On Hop Off City Tour to see the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, the Champs Elysees etc. at your leisure. The tour gives you the opportunity to have total independence to see what you want, when you want.

ESCORTED:
Day One (Fully Escorted)
- Travel from London and on arrival enjoy a guided panoramic tour which will show you all the main sights of Paris, and includes a stop at the second level of the Eiffel Tower. The tour finishes at the Louvre where you will have free time for lunch. In the afternoon board a boat for a romantic guided River Seine cruise followed by an optional visit of the Louvre (admission not included). Make your own way to your comfortable, air-conditioned 3-star hotel.

Day Two (Unescorted)
- After breakfast the day is free for you to explore independently. With your one day Hop on Hop off tour ticket you can explore the sights of Paris. This is by far the easiest way to get about in Paris and enables you to concentrate on your main areas of interest.

You will arrive in Paris at approximately 11:00am on Day One, and depart Paris between 8:30pm and 9:15pm, arriving into London between 10:00pm and 10:30pm on Day Two.

Overall well organized...The tour guide did not know which hotel we were assigned to stay overnight, but thankfully we knew, and he was then able to direct us to it...We enjoyed Paris immensely

The trip felt unorganized. However, once we finally found the tour guide, he was more than helpful and welcoming. The hotel was disgusting and located far outside the city. Not only was this was more than inconvenient; it was also completely unsafe. We do not speak French, were unfamiliar with the public transportation system ahead of time AND the hotel was located in a very unsafe neighborhood. This nearly ruined the trip.

The main problem with this 2 day trip was that we were never allowed to stop at the hotel or at least store our luggage. We were the only couple on the escorted 2 day trip thus everyone else came first. Can you imagine toting around clothes and toiletries around the Eiffel Tower? The tour guide was awful, she lost us once and we had to run to the next stop which was a river cruise that consisted of riding in a closed boat to see the sites. It was so crowded and closed in that we couldn't take pictures. We didn't have the chance to eat till 4 pm after leaving at 6:30 am for the train. Yes, there was the beverage car but by the time I got up in the line they were out of pretty much anything. The best part of the trip was the Moulin Rouge which we booked ourselves. If you want to see Paris like this, do the one day tour or at least come back to London early the next morning.

LOndo end was good but in Paris the guide would you leave to go to the hotel and hotels was messed up as they provide two twin beds for a couple and breakfast was lousey. WE could not find hopon bus and thus the second day we had to depend on Metro including getting the train back. I suggest people get Mtero card for the day than bus as few of our ftriends who depended on Bus to get the train back almost missed it due to traffic jam. Guide pretty much leave you alone at Notardam and othe r[laces accept Eiffel tower.

Unless you know French, go with the guided tour! Paris was a nightmare on your own. I can master the Tube in London but was completely lost when it came to the Metro. Lots of people were rude, the hotel is pretty north of everything but still decently located, the hotel room was not all that nice either but right around the corner from Moulin Rouge where I had amazing memories from the year before.

Overall it was a lovely trip with the escorted tour on day 1, and free time on day 2. The hotel was located in Montmarte and just around the corner from Moulin Rouge. We walked to the artist area and visited the Dali museum - Montmarte is a beautiful place. The only drawback was when the tour guide brought us back to the Le Gare Du Nord at the end of day 1 and explained the departure procedures for those on the day trip only, and was prepared to head off without explaining to those of us staying overnight. And later we realized the tour guide did not hand us the hop onoff ticket valid on the second day too. Left a message in mobile voice mail but didn't get a response. Luckily we spent day 2 in Montmarte and didn't need to ride the tour bus.

Very good tour. We were happy with how almost everything went. Sami was great as a tour leader. Things we were not happy with were minor and in the big picture, not terribly important. Tour went just as we anticipated when we booked, and made our Paris visit memorable.

This trip had a few glitches train seat with no window! tour guide showed up at 800 at train station while everyone was told to be there at 745 causing a bit of panic for some. Hotel was great, within walking distance to a metro. We did the independent trip which was perfect for us. We felt the sightseeing bus Cars Rouges was not as good as the Big Bus tours in London. Overall, trip was a good exposure to Paris sights.

First day and Second day are good, Hotel in Paris is good too! Until at the end of the tour... we 2 wait at the Opera station from 630pm to 800pm for the car to pickup and no one come, no bus come, no calls to Paris North Eurostar Station.. at last, I have to hire an expensive cab to Station to fit with Eurostar schedule... this really bring us trouble especially with luggages and not familiar in the country.

It was pretty good. The tour day was rushed as expected. If you have your escorted day on Tuesday, note the Louvre is NOT open on that day and your guide will take you elsewhere. I found I got to see more on my unescorted day.

Two day trip but no place to put our bags, had to drag them about with us all day. Were not told ahead of time that we would not be going up the Eiffel tower due to two lifts being out of order and long waits. We would have understood if we weren't so shocked at finding out when we just had the photo op and not the ride up. Our tour guide tried really hard to make things go well but many of us were very disappointed about this. We also felt rather abandoned in the middle of a big city in a country where we couldn't speak the language, as we were left to find our own way to the hotel. Not a good feeling in the middle of a thunderstorm when the bus stop you were directed to is closed due to road construction.
