Jack the Ripper Tour and London Ghost Walk

London, United Kingdom

See the sinister and ghostly side of London as you follow the blood-soaked footsteps of murderer Jack the Ripper down gas-lit alleyways on a walking tour of London that will have you trembling with fear!

The year is 1888. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has just published his first Sherlock Holmes story...and in Whitechapel, in London's East End, five women are brutally murdered by the world's first recognized serial killer, Jack the Ripper.

You will see where Jack the Ripper found his victims while your guide runs through some of the suspects in this unsolved case that led Scotland Yard to Queen Victoria herself.

Led by a Professional Tour Guide, your tour will commence with a drive along the darkest sides of London. You will see the Theatre Drury Lane, said to be the most haunted theatre in London, your guide will explain why! The next site will be the Old Bailey - site of numerous public hangings, and Fleet Street, home of Sweeny Todd - the demon barber of Fleet Street - and his accomplice, Mrs Lovatt, who was said to have baked pies from the flesh of his victims, selling them to unsuspecting customers.

Once in Whitechapel, disembark the coach and walk this death trail inspecting some of the murder sites, deciphering the evidence and discussing the suspects. We will see the 10 Bells Pub, built in 1752 where many of Jack the Ripper's victims were said to have drunk.

The tour will finish at a traditional pub near Trafalgar Square.

The Jack the Ripper tour is only as good as the tour guide. Our tour guide made us stop at a restaurant in Spitalfields Market for a half hour while he went inside and ordered his dinner. He took us to only one of the murder sites and finished the tour an hour early. What a horrible experience.

I had high expectations for this tour, and was a little disappointed that buildings were no longer to review but the story teller was exceptional

This Ripper tour was fun and the guide was interesting to listen to, but I wouldn't advertise it as a "London Ghost Walk". It was almost entirely about Jack the Ripper. Unfortunately, there is very little left to see from the time of Jack except the Ten Bells pub, which is not on the tour because it gets very crowded. We had to stand across the street to look at it. Of course, it was very nice to have the bus to take us to an area of London that is not somewhere we would probably want to explore on our own at night, so that made it all worth it.

Did not enjoy this tour at all, and it all came down to the tour guide....he was a total jerk!!! It was a full bus and he kept remarking about "why was there so many of us." I felt like we were a BIG inconvenience to him and we should be sorry to him for making him do this tour with so many of us!!! _br/_ I really love reading/watching/hearing things about "jack the ripper" so I was very disappointed with this tour. I did enjoy walking around the streets of "white chappel" but nothing else. My partner who is not a abled fast walker, found it very hard to keep up, the tour guide speed us around the streets like he wanted the tour to end quickly. We didn't end up at a "english pub" for a snack instead he took us to an Indian resturant....not quite the _br/_ 'English" atmosphere that I was expecting. Would not recommend this tour, go find another one...the customer is just too much of an inconvenience to them!

A truly interesting guided tour! Our guide took us on an eerie tour showing us many sites involved in the Jack the Ripper case. Some horrible tales, detailed information and intimate facts about the murders. The final site visited was outside the flat of Mary the last murder victim. Quite scary when the street light went off after talking about her. Even more bizarre after hearing a tale about a previous visit when one of the tour group was knocked to the ground by an unknown force! My partner enjoyed the tour, I loved it!

This is a great tour. The guide was very good and provided a good dose of humor to what is a rather morbid subject. He provided a lot of good information and the walking part was well paced for anyone. I would do it again.

The tour guide was really great but overall very disappointed with this tour. £25 each for a 30 min bus ride, 30 min break and about 45 mins of walking in what was meant to be a 3.5 hour walking tour! It was 'too far to walk' to one of the murder sites, which is ridiculous because its a walking tour and how could we not visit one of the sites??? We whisked past whitechapel and the ten bells...stopped in a completely unrelated restaurant for 30 mins for a break after about 30 mins of walking. I live in London and know for a fact its not too far to walk the sites at all. I have been to these sites myself but was hoping for a lot more than what was on offer. Overall a very very brief coverage of JTR and there was no ghost walk?? We decided to leave the tour at Whitechapel without returning to the pick up point as we were so disappointed and live in East London anyway. I wouldnt recommend this tour to anyone and cant believe I left the house on a cold rainy day to attend this tour which I have been looking forward to for months! You would know more by researching online ..

Getting to add in White Church to our already packed trip was great. The walk around the area with the guide (who had a great sense of humor) was great fun and informative. _br/_ The only down side was that we were off the bus for a mere 90 min and 30 of that was spent at a restaurant resting from walking four blocks... and the fact that by the time we got to the fish and chips place at the end of the tour, they were closed except for seating at the already packed bar and there was not opportunity to actually get any food.

This tour was disappointing. There was no "ghost walk," only some brief mention of a ghost while we were on the bus. We walked around Whitechapel and saw approximate places where events occurred. The stop at the restaurant was clearly to give the place the business - an Indian restaurant on a Jack the Ripper tour?? Other tours had guides dressed in period costumes and carrying lanterns - our tour could have used this type of drama and we were hoping for a bit more creepiness and fright factor It was actually rather boring. The guide was reasonably knowledgeable and answered individual questions during the break, but actually answered my husband's question regarding copycat killers wrong - yes, there is at least one documented copycat killer. He was, however, respectful of the tourists. He nearly ran through the tour because we were late due to traffic, but he did wait for folks to catch up, and offered us two bathroom breaks.

Three and a half stars: The guide worked hard so the tour had its high points, particularly in the areas where the street-scape hadn't changed much. Different though in more modern areas : more drama and colour required from the guide.

We really enjoyed this tour and would definitely recommend this! We were nervous about how much walking it would be as it was cold out, but it wasn't bad at all. You take a 30 minute coach ride over to White Castle and the tour guide tells you all about London on the way. Then you walk a bit, then take a 30 minute break inside for tea or coffee. As it was freezing out, we were really happy for the 30 minutes to warm up! Then we did a bit more walking, then back to the coach for the 30 minute ride back. Overall, the walking portion was maybe 1.5 hrs of the 3 hour tour time. The pace was not exactly slow, though not overly taxing either. The best part of the tour was that the part of White Castle they walk you through is all original the way it was in 1888 when the murders occurred. Old stone streets, and the original brick victorian buildings. It was very eery walking through the area in the dark and knowing Jack the Ripper may have stood in that very spot. The tour guide was very informative and we learned a lot on the tour. We found this very enjoyable in a creepy sort of way :) and was really neat to see the area where all of this happened. Very satisfied with this tour, especially for the price!

Really fun! We were just seconds late for our tour and the gentleman from the local tour agency actually closed the office and escorted us through the streets of London at a dead run! We must have looked like we were crazy. But we made the bus at the next stop and it was worth it! A Special thank you to this wonderful guy.

The guide was fantastic - a real entertainer. Being summer it was still light for the entire tour so it lost some of the impact. Still it was very informative and entertaining. On the bus trip from Trafalgar Sq to Whitechapel we were given a fantastic commentary of London.

We did not get to one of the locations promised on the tour so I was disappointed with that. However, it was an informative and interesting tour especially for those interested in the Jack the Ripper case. I wish there had been more of the ghost tour and actual hands on tours of the haunted areas.

Went on this tour last week, it was good our guide was very informative but its not theatrical enough. The photo is very misleading sure it would be abit of craic to dress up! Also you only walk around for 40 mins or less, don't agree with stopping in the pub for 30 minutes obviously the operator gets a comission for doing this, but its really done to make the tour seem longer. Anyway guide very good, but at the end of the tour let the people into walk around the area of the last victim Im sure its not actually scary. Slan abhaile!!
