KD Rhine Pass from Mainz

Mainz, Germany

An easy way to start your romantic day on the Rhine: Present your KD ticket onboard any KD ship and enjoy all scheduled day cruises on the Rhine and Moselle rivers for one whole day. The extensive and reliable timetable enables you to disembark as often as you like at the many interesting stops, and spend as much or as little time as you would like.

Use the pass as a one way ticket to get from one city to another, or maybe you prefer to use it as a return trip to spend a day elsewhere along the river, the choice is yours!

Without committing yourself to a certain route in advance, the Rhine Pass allows you to enjoy the Rhine Valley with its numerous beautiful castles, endless vineyards, the Lorely and much, much more. This is a fantastic alternative to rail travel, while viewing the Rhine Valley from it's best vantage point - the Rhine itself!

The Rhine Pass is valid on all scheduled KD day cruises between Cologne and Mainz, as well as the Moselle between Koblenz and Cochen except special theme cruises and cruises including gastronomic service.

This was a fun, relaxing trip down the Rhine. We saw a castle almost every 5 minutes! Stunning views of the countryside!

A definite must to do while in Germany!!_br/_ We actually boarded in Rüdesheim. The boat was very comfortable with multiple levels of indoor seating. We exited the boat twice with no problem. We didn't get a cool ticket just a receipt that we needed show to re-board. The weather got a little on the rainy side which was okay on the boat but there was no protection at the docks while waiting for a boat!! We traveled all the way to Koblenz. Be sure to walk along the Rhine river to the Deusches Eck and then along the Mosel River before walking to the New train station._br/_ Dress for any weather, the breeze off the river can be cool or walking on deck maybe hot in good weather!

We travelled up and down the Rhine from Bacharach to St Goar and up to Rudesheim. All three boats were comfortable with good restaurants and gave information about the castles in all the passengers' languages. We were able to explore St Goar and Rudesheim briefly before catching the next boat.

It was easy to book with Viator and the administration and cruise staff were very excellent. The cruise was amazing in terms of sights but very crowded.

Good value. Clean and spacious boat. Lots of stops which allow you to choose where you want to get off. Good sound system and the commentary was in several languages including english. The food on the boat was very good and I was surprised by the variety

It would be extremely helpful to provide fixed GPS coordinates and other launch site descriptions. Rainy limited our ability to enjoy fresh air and views at times. Even with the weather limits, the trip was very beautiful and informative..

Excellent trip at a leisurely pace. Hard to believe something of this quality would be priced so low. The food on board was outstanding and is highly recommended.

Great cruise with magnificent sites but gets boring if you stay on the boat too long. Recommend you get off and explore some of the towns along the Rhine.

The schedule and the tickets I had were not correlating. I was at the boat for 8.45 as per my ticket but it did not come to 9.45. the boat also didn't go all the way to Köln as the schedule showed. I travelled from Mainz on the 4th of October and the schedule had been changed to that of the 5th October with no warning from KD. It meant I had to get off at St Goar and pay for a train to complete my journey. The staff on board were very helpful though.

This was a very good trip after the problems were resolved. Our GPS took us to the wrong destination. I would suggest the address is spelled out making it very clear on your ad. Also, there was not a very good sign or identifiable markings for the boarding of the ship. We were in Mainz in plenty of time to get on the ship however because we could not find where to board we missed it and had to drive to the next town to board. We called when getting close to Mainz to find where to go and the lady who answered the phone was not helpful at all. The man in the booth might have told us we would have to cross the ferry when we got to the next town but we didn't have any idea about that and almost missed that one too. The traffic in Mainz was very bad so it is a good idea to let people know this so they can go especially early so not to miss the cruise. The boat was nice...meal was excellent. Good prices. The staff were very nice and helpful. The trip was beautiful and I have a lot of wonderful pictures. I would rate the trip as wonderful and we want to do it again as people come to visit here from the states. It would have just been really nice to have a couple tidbits of information beforehand to assist us getting aboard. Of course having the GPS take us to the wrong area did not help.

Terrific views from the ferry all the way up. Really is the best way to appreciate the Rhine River. Also a good range of food and drink available. Cons: I had difficulty in locating where the ferry left from (Google Maps seach points incorrectly to the commercial terminal). Suggest to add a note to indicate it is adjacent to the Rheingoldhalle building. Only one early ferry ran the day I went, so just as well I checked it all out the day before when I arrived. The English tour commentary is not very comprehensive, and is difficult to hear unless you sit right under the speaker. Suggest to do your own research and bring notes indexed by KM distance marks (as one US Tourist I sat next to did), as these marks are clearly visible on the rivers edge from the boat and were better than the canned commentary.

The website said they were two daily departures to cologne from Mainz. When I got there at 945am I was told the boat to cologne had left at 845am. The staff were very unapologetic and rude.I had to get off at the last stop and make my way back to cologne by train. The person in the KD boothe who I asked for directions to the train station was very rude.

Mainz to Koblenz was scenic, interesting, and relaxing but Koblenz to Koln was very industrial, less attractive, and boring. The boat's onboard staff seemed a bit disinterested and none spoke English. The food was good.

Excellen trip! Everyone should put this trip in their "Bucket List". However, group leaders should have a little consideration for others. It appeares that there were several school trips and the children were left unattended. That presented a problem for passengers that preferred to talk, or otherwise enjoy the trip. They were totally uncontrolled!!!

We boarded at Mainz & cruised until we got off to see the castle at St Goar. There was only an hour allowed for this if you wanted to catch the boat back though. We enjoyed the cruise & what we saw but you will need to catch the train back on either side of the river if wanting to get back to your hotel at a decent time. Enjoyed the cruise.

The view is wonderful although the sky was cloudy almost all the wasy from the Mainz to Kobrenz. The trip was half an hour's later than the schedule and it made our left journey compressed.

My mom and I started from Bingin! We had lunch while waiting for out ship to get there then we were WOWed by the beautiful castles we saw around every corner!!! What a great way to experience the Rhein River. The crew was very friendly. There was a guide that told us the name and history of every castle We had dinner on the cruse and the service was great! Can't wait for our next trip to the Rhein. Danke Sehr!

We went from Rudesheim to Cologne. The trip was very pleasant. Services on the boat were very adequate. Our group had an excellent time. The only drawback was that the boat ran about 1 1/2 hours behind schedule.

It was a wonderful cruise on the Rhine! I hadn't been on the Rhine in 32 years-so brought back a lot of memories of when I was a child. Very laid back and relaxing. I cruised from Rudesheim to Koblenz, then took the train back to Wiesbaden. Be sure to put on sunscreen during the summer months-I forgot & got a nice sunburn.

A great way to see the Rhine and travel at the same time as we left Mainz and departed in Koblenz, it has a great relaxed atmosphere and the dining area was very good when the weather became rainy, our booking was all confirmed with no problems definitely recommend to others.

It was truly an extremely wonderful experience and we could capture each and every scenic aspect of the beautiful Rhine Valley. This trip is definitely worth taking and is worth the money. In fact, it is much cheaper booking it through Viator than if we book this trip directly from the boat company.

This was a fun and relaxing way to get from Frankfurt to Duesseldorf. We took the first half of the tour where all the castles are, got off at Koblenz and then caught a train the rest of the way north. The second half of the tour is through more industrialized areas. We suggest that you purchase additional information on the castles; there are maps of the Rhine and its castles available at many of the ports, for example. The narration on the boat is good but leaves you wanting more and is sometimes hard to hear if everyone is talking. Bring a windbreaker and a hat. It was chilly in the morning and then sunny and very hot by 10 AM. Bring snacks, too, if you want to eat up on the outdoor deck.

The booking, online ticket printing and easy acceptance by the agent at the gang-plank was simple and convenient. It worked just as we all hoped internet booking should go! We had great weather, the food on board while limited, was good and not overly expensive. The choice of beer and wine was likewise. In short, the trip from Mainz to Koln was great and gave us a good orientation for the weeks drive we subsequently took along the shore.

We really enjoyed this trip. The highlight is the stretch from Mainz to Koblenz - Koblenz to Koln is more industrial. The full trip does take 12 hours, but full food and drink is available on the entire journey.
