Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us on our Sunrise Tour. The only thing I can say is that is you talk about a continental breakfast then make it one. Pastries from Costco that sit above the driver is not breakfast. Otherwise the the driver was OK.

Our tour guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but talked way too much for 3 AM! It was none stop talk all the way up the mountain. Part of the reason we decided to go with this tour over driving ourselves was so we could sleep! Needless to say this was not possible with the guide talking the whole way through.

Very early start. Our driver spoke very softly and at times sounded half asleep. Very difficult to stay awake listening to him at 2am in the morning, especially when he was very repetitive. The bus was small and full. There is not much room in the bus. It’s very cold at the volcano – so make sure you bring very warm clothes. A jumper is not enough. Would be good if the tour provided cold weather jackets – saw another tour had provided them which would have really helped when standing outside for over an hour in the cold and dark._br/_ That said the sunrise was worth waiting for and you quickly forget your frozen fingers and toes once the sun rises above the clouds. The continential breakfast was coffee (too bad if you don’t drink coffee) and a pre-packaged pastry. Not my idea of a continental breakfast. Think a more substantial breakfast could be provided as it’s a very very long trip and one pastry doesn’t really cut it. Maybe also provide tea or hot chocolate. Hot water with a few tea bags and chocolate powder wouldn’t be that hard.

Haleakala was fabulous, as expected! However, the bus and driver presented issues. The bus and/or the driver smelled terribly bad - it was very offensive. Especially at 2:45AM! The driver was an excellent driver and was very knowledgeable about Haleakala and surrounding environs, history, etc. However, he had the most monotone and slow speech pattern that I've ever heard, making almost impossible to pay attention to him. It was sort of like "white noise". Very disappointing because he actually had a wealth of information.

Definitely experience this for yourself! It reminded me that God is in control! _br/_ It is cold up there so make sure to be properly dressed so that you do not feel uncomfortable._br/_ I wasexperiencing a variety of emotions waiting for the sun to rise and watching the sun rise: anxiety, happiness, thankfulness, awe--everything positive. Man could not duplicate this if he tried. _br/_ I would love to go on this tour again.

Great experience. I can't stress how important it is for you to bring very warm clothes. It may be Hawaii, but it's winter up there. The tour would have been better if the guide had talked less. It was nice that he was trying to give you as much information as possible, but it's all a little bit too much to take in so early in the morning.

The disappointment began when we were picked up 30 minutes late. This is a total bummer when it's 3am and hot and muggy outside. Why tell us to be outside at 3:05 then arrive at 3:30? And you can't blame traffic!

It was beautiful but freezing cold. It is an early morning so make sure to get your sleep or you will be sleeping on the shuttle like I was!!! You have to see the sunrise if you seen the hawaiian sunsets! A must do.

It was wonderful to see the sunrise above the clouds. Another visitor told me that we were inside the volcano - I couldn't tell and did not hear the guide mention it. I must not have read the preview information well enough. But pick up and return were good. I met very nice people on the tour.

A very early 2.15am start and after some confusion it was confirmed we would be picked up from outside our resort. It took a while for us to get on our way as there were still others to pick up. Ron our driver gave us good information although at times he repeated what he'd said. No problem though, he was very good otherwise. In fact he was very informative. The bus was small and full. The seats needed to have head rests as everyone continued to sleep but it was very uncomfortable also the seats were cramped. Ok for a short journey but not one like this. The cold was extreme at the top of the mountain and the wind factor was horrendous! There needs to be more emphasis on the weather conditions at the top rather than just a casual mention also we thought the company could have offered blankets for the bus as an added value. Unfortunately there was a bank of cloud that made viewing the rising sun not very impressive at all and a better view was to be had at the summit. But thats Mother Nature for you. In all the experience was positive. The breakfast was coffee and two pastries so don't hold your breath. It was most welcome none the less. If you do this trip make sure you are prepared with very warm clothing so you can bear standing outside for more than 10 minutes at a time!

Package was as advertised. Pick up at hotel was on time, tour guide/driver was very nice and gave informative information and stops on the way back (summit and crater views) enhanced our education and enjoyment. Definitely recommended for those visiting Maui.

By far the best value (and cheapest) of the Haleakala tours. Most will cost you more than double. Ron was an awesome driver and very knowledgeable guide. The drive was easy since we were able to sleep most of the way and the views at the top were like no other. This is a must see/ can't miss tour with Viator!

Seeing Haleakala Sunrise is definately worth seeing however, I was not impressed with our tour guide. I heard him say he was filling in for someone for a couple of days and it definitely showed. He did not get out of the bus with us, just sent us on our way. I noticed all the other guides were pretty much with their group. On the way back he narrated some, but to be honest, he was terrible. One couple did not give him any tip and I only gave him a 5, I wish I wouldn't have given him anything! These tour companies need to make sure their alternate tour guides are better than this.

The trip was too long and unfortunately we didn't see the sun rise. Clouds came by and we missed the whole thing. I was so disappointed. After the sun did come up, we had to rush back to the bus and didn't have a chance to see the crater at all. Made too many stops on the way back. Could have eliminated the stop at the market and jewelry store. Tour guide was nice.
