Jamaica's Spirit of Reggae - the Bob Marley Experience from Montego Bay

Montego Bay, Jamaica

When one thinks of Jamaica (mon), you can't help but think of the King of Reggae, Bob Marley. Journey to the village of Nine Mile, where Bob lived, loved and played. Learn about the Rastafarian religion he practiced and made famous as well as seeing his final resting place. A moving tribute to a great musician!

Travel through the hills and curves of the parish of St. Ann, called the garden parish, until you reach Nine Mile, where your Bob Marley tour takes place. This little village is tucked away in the beautiful mountains of Jamaica and is the birthplace (Feb.6,1945) of the legendary "King of Reggae", Bob Marley. It is also the place he was laid to rest.

The Bob Marley tour starts with a walk through his home as a young boy, which is now a museum and photo gallery. Your guide will reveal little known insights into Bob Marley's childhood and musical career. You'll even have a chance to stand on "Mt. Zion Rock" (Bob's meditation spot) and rest your head on the "pillow", made famous in the song "Talking Blues".

The memorial at Nine Mile also includes Bob Marley's final resting place. Visit Bob Marley's grave in Jamaica and pay your respects to this great man.

Some of the information wasn't correct at Marley's mausoleum but overall, it was a great tour--very fun, the people were super nice, and our tour guide was great.

Kind of disapointment for the money. I'm glad the kids did not want to go. Long day on narrow roads. The tour was informative but not worth the money you pay. The area you visit is small but that is the life in Jamaica. I can always say I visited the home and grave of Bob Marley, that's worth something.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

The trip gave you an excellent view of Jamaica. He gave some interesting facts. The food was excellent. I had been at the best jerk chicken before! Could have used some music on the bus though the group was very quiet.

Great trip very informative i loved it i would recommend this trip .What i will say is it is quiet a long journey to nine mile and its winding roads so be prepared. There are a lot of tour buses going and then they have to contend with the cruises ships coming so check the days they dock as it can get crowded. You can take photo's of most areas except the tomb.

Greatly enjoyed the excursion for two reasons. First, it takes you inland so that you see parts of Jamaica tourists often miss out on. This is a shame as Jamaica has beautiful scenery such as Bob Marley's birthplace, Nine Mile, lies in the mountains of St Ann Parish. Driver also stopped briefly on the way at a rural town. Secodnly, whether you're a Bob Marley fan or not, a visit to his birthplace and mausoleum is a significant experience, especially if you get a guide that's entertaining! Good service.

Going through the country to Bob's place was a great trip in itself. The guide at the site was great and sure made the tour of the area interesting along with his sing of Marley tunes, which he does quite well. To us it was well worth it!

I thought the tour was very well put together. We were picked up on time and the driver was excellent. The tour guide was funny and very informative. The tour itself was great, this was my second time on tour and this was even better than the other one. Lunch at the end of it was excellent. Authentic jerk, it doesn't get any better than that.

Highly recommended if you are interested in Bob Marley. However it is a very long journey to the museum and this is the only stop apart from lunch.

Overall a good trip. The tour guide made the ride to and from Nine Miles a lot of fun. The jerk chicken lunch was phenominal. The Bob Marley tour seems to have gotten a little more commercialized compared to what others have told me about the place.

Having done a tour through a different agency, this one was by far the best for value and fun. We felt like we really experienced Jamaica though seeing Bob Marley's home and from the stop at the local jerk chicken place.

The tour is a must do for anyone visiting Jamaica for the first time, reggae fan or not. It was very informative, and our tour guide was the best! His narration was lively and upbeat, keeping everyone engaged despite the heat. The journey lasted about 2 hours each way, but our driver took really good care of us. He catered to our needs and was very friendly too. He had a cooler at the back of the car with soda for us, and when we requested that he drop us off at a restaurant close to our hotel, he obliged. Small things like this make the experience more enjoyable and memorable.

We had a great time at the Bob Marley Experience! The bus ride from Montego Bay was so much fun! We drove along the north coast for about half an hour, and then we turned south and went on a wild ride up into the mountains! No worries, though, the driver was great and very safe. The tour itself was wonderful - everything I had hoped for. Our lunch stop on the way home was the BEST! Jerk chicken and pork and tasty sides.

When they say to be there at a certain time, be there 15 minutes early, because they get there early and don't wait. We had to reschedule our trip once due to this.

The tour was absolutely fantastic. All the tour guides were very fun and knowledgeable. Jamaica itself is my favorite place in the Caribbean. It was my first and surely not my last time in Montego Bay. This tour is a must if you are in Jamaica. The whole tour from the drive there to the drive back was unbelievable. To see where Mr. Marley was born and laid to rest was super cool. If this review is being read before your first trip to Jamaica get hyped because this place is the best! Ya man! Respect.
