Would have been better if it was an only English tour - lots of standing around while the guide did a second translation in French. Wonder if we wouldn't have gotten more if she didn't have to do both languages.

Our experience with Viator was mixed. The online booking process was straight-forward and easy to do. The guide was knowledgeable and spoke very good English. The one massive problem we had was the pick up point for the tour. We traveled to Napoli Central Station and then followed the directions we were given for where to meet the driver for the tour. Unfortunately the directions had us standing in the wrong place and although the driver waited for 30 minutes and even tried looking for us, we never found him. It wasn't until we walked into a near-by hotel and were helped by the receptionist that we were able to find out how to get to Pompeii and join the tour. Unfortunately we caught them up pretty much at the end of the tour but were told there was no possibility of a partial refund. What we got of the tour was great and we would have loved to have done the whole tour. Be aware that the directions you see on the website are wrong and you actually have to wait at the front door of the Star Hotel Terminus if you are being picked up from Napoli Station!!!!

The tour was just ok. The bus arrived on time and the tour guide was on the bus with us. The entire trip to Pompeii, the tour guide did not speak to the group and when she did it was done in two languages because two of the 14 people only spoke Italian. I thought it was a tour in English. When we arrived at Pompeii, a tour guide was assigned to us who proceeded to give the tour in two languages. I felt it would have been much more informative if the entire tour could have been done in the language I thought tour would be conducted in. In short, I would not recommend this tour as it was not what we expected.

The tour was great but our guide seemed to be too far ahead of the slow walkers of the group and we missed out on a lot of the information, the City of Pompeii is AMAZING and would love to spend more time there. Next time I would get a map and do a self guided tour....

The tour guide was AMAZING he was very knowledgeable, but most importantly he was very funny. On most tours i take i try not to fall asleep standing up. but i was laughing the whole way with pompeii. he just gives a lot of interesting details and little facts that makes the whole place come to life. a MUST take!!

The tour itself was very good, but the tour guide acted as though it was almost a burden to be there. All of the other guides for the tours we purchased were very helpful and seemed to thoroughly enjoy what they were doing, even though they do the same thing every day. Overall, experience would have been much better with a different guide.

Great tour but the transport to and from Pompeii was sub-standard (2 x broken seats in one of the mini buses, no air con and very bumpy ride). It would also have been preferable to be able to stay and look around, have lunch at the site on completion, rather than having to be rushed away immediately after the tour finished (we didn't do the lunch and Mt Vesuvius option). Instructions prior to receiving the "whisper" radios were very poor, and lucky to have not lost some of our group on the way. Also, further instructions after we handed "whispers" back were a bit lacking in detail.

I did this trip yesterday from Naples to see Pompei!! I have heard so much about Pompei from friends that have travelled there and defiantly was not disappointed. The length of the tour was short and quick but it was perfect because since we were there in the summer months it was 40 degrees outside and I can't say we would have wanted to spend much more time in the heat!! Awesome day!

it was SO HORRIBLE. what shoudl have tookus 20 minutes to get from naples to pompeii took us 4 HOURS bc there was a protest in the streets and it was so hot in the tour bus it was so horrible. the WORST experience ever and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! this doesnt even deserve one star.

Our guide was very good. However, we were NOT given headsets to hear our guide with, and it made it almost impossible to hear the information unless you were standing next to the guide. All the other tours we took with viators we got headsets, this one we did not and it made such a big difference. We were disappointed in that feature. It was not our guides fault--he did the best he could without them but in the future I would INSIST upon headsets to hear the guide or get your money back.

THIS TOUR IS A MUST DO! We had a great guide! He was a wealth of knowledge, and at one point we found other people beginning to follow our tour because of how informative it was. Had we not had a guide, we would have missed out on so much, and would not have discovered all of the things that we did. As a last minute decision we also added the Mt. Vesuvius climb to this tour, as everyone else in our group was doing it. We're very glad we did both in the same day, and felt neither was to be missed!

We asked for an english speaking guide and got that but she had to split her time also explaining things in French. No audio headphones for the group meant that we had to huddle in real close to hear the explanation. (all the other groups had audio headphones) The tour through Pompei was rushed and we felt like we were on some insane schedule. We would have rather taken more time on the tour getting a feel for Pompei. After the tour They wanted to rush us onto the bus for the quick ride back to Naples. We had to insist on a bathroom break and they were not happy about it. There was NO time allotted to shop at the souvenir shops at Pompei after the tour. YGTBKM! Pompei is worth doing but I would choose another operator.

We were picked up at our hotel on time. Our guide, Andre, was fun and knowledgable. The Van was clean and the AC worked great. The TOUR of POMPEII was excellent. Me, my husband and our two daughters 12 & 16 were fascinated and loved every minute. The group was small about a dozen ... so we didn't need headsets to hear ... it was very personal and you could ask questions anytime.

We upgraded our trip to Pompeii plus Vesuvius. The Pompeii guide was a little enthusiastic Italian bloke, with a good command of English. He had a great way of explaining not just the historical facts, but also of providing more of a feel for the culture. Pompeii was a great experience. The climb up Vesuvius was tough in the heat, and to look into the crater of an active volcano was incredible.

We really should have combined our tour with the tour of Vesuvius, but we didn't as we weren't sure if our incoming train to Naples would allow us enough time to check in and make the combined tour on time. The guide on this leg was great. Really entertaining and he knew his stuff. Pompeii is amazing and I would highly recommend this - but try to combine with Vesuvius tour if you can.

Our guide was very experienced and went to a lot of trouble to make sure we understoodhim and what he was telling us. I took a walking stick and would recommend this to anyone doing this tour as the walk ways are quite uneven. We enjoyed this tour very much.

Our tour of Pompei was amazing!! Our guide was phenomenal. Our group tour ended up just being myself and my husband, so we got a private tour for the price of a group tour. The guide was so informative, friendly, and funny. He kept us interested and entertained the whole time. It started raining and he kept offering us his umbrella, and tried to shield my husband from the rain while he took lots of photos. It was an unforgettable day and I would DEFINITELY do it again and will be recommending it to EVERYONE!
