Steamboat Natchez Harbor Cruise

New Orleans, United States of America

Board the historic Steamboat Natchez to the delightful tunes of the Steam Calliope. Experience the sights and sounds of river life that enchanted characters of history and literature - like Mark Twain's Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer - and see the bustling activity of America's second largest port!

View the ever-changing skyline of 'The Crescent City' from the sunny decks or climate-controlled comfort of the majestic Steamer Natchez. Cruise past the Chalmette Battlefield, where the legendary Jean Lafitte and his buccaneers joined forces with Andrew Jackson to defend the city against the British in the Battle of New Orleans.

On the 11:30am departure, you also have the option to add on a delicious lunch.

My husband and enjoyed our riverboat excursion. The line to board was extremely long but didn't mind waiting. The boat is beautiful and the announcer was very knowledgeable. I would recommend this trip to anyone traveling to New Orleans.

My wife and I enjoyed our four day stay in New Orleans while celebrating our 25th wedding aniversery. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn near the Convention Center. Great vacation!!! We will certainly share our experiences with friends and family. The only down side was that everything was soooooo expensive. Would like to come back one day if we can afford it.

This cruise was the best part of our trip. The temperature was hot, the sun was shining and there was a perfect breeze blowing. The steamboat is grand and the captain/tourguide of the cruise was very informative and interesting. The traditional buffet lunch was superb and I had my first taste of southern fried chicken, creamy spinach, red bean rice, biscuts and bread pudding. Whew I was stuffed. Sitting in the sun crusing the Mississippi on the Steamboat Natchez while sipping on a cold beer from the bar was the best way to spend the day. You can also visit the mechanical room (which was very interesting) and gift shop on board.

I really, really enjoyed this one. Yes, the food was like picnic food but the cruise itself was great. Very informative and to be honest, I liked it better than the evening cruise because of that. I learned a lot about the area and I was able to see a different view of the French Quarter.

I loved the calliope and the steam whistle. The narrator was very informative. I was surprised at how much we could see from the boat. It was a great way to get orientated to the area. I went on a lunch cruise. There was plenty of food and the meal was all inclusive. Very nice.

When we went to check in for our cruise, we were told that it had been cancelled but could get on the one 2.5 hours later. An inconvenience, but we went and did a few things then came back and it was fine. The narration of the cruise was wonderful, very informative, great info about the NOLA area. There was plenty of room on the ship to sit and lots of walking room. If you got cold you could go into the dining area, bar, or tour the steam room. There was not a huge selction of food, but it was very, very good...chicken, bread, salad, beans and rice (top of the line!), and bread pudding which was also phenomenal! I would definitely recommend this attraction!

This is a nice way to spend a couple of hours in the afternoon in New Orleans and cruise along the MIssissippi River on a nice day and get an excellent view of the New Orleans' skyline. I would recommend doing the cruise only. With all the great restaurants in New Orleans, I wouldn't waste my money on doing a lunch or dinner cruise - I looked at the food offered at lunch and was happy we ate in town beforehand!

An excellent cruise along the Mighty Mississippi covering a good stretch along the New Orleans and suburban foreshore. The genuine steam-powered Natchez is a beautiful vessel and being invited to go and inspect the steam engine and workings is a highlight. Having lunch supplied aboard is handy, but trying to break away from the scenery to find time to eat it is a challenge! Highly recommended.
