Swamp and Bayou Sightseeing plus Oak Alley Plantation Combo Tour
New Orleans, United States of America
Enjoy the flexibility of combining the Swamp and Bayou Tour and the Oak Alley Plantation Tour and SAVE! Travel across the Mississippi by coach for a boat trip deep into the Louisiana bayou and experience a bygone era at At Oak Alley Plantation.
Swamp and Bayou Tour:
After a short motorcoach ride across the Mississippi River, take a boat trip into the swamps and bayous to experience the timeless beauty of Southern Louisiana. Native guides will reveal the mysteries of the swamps and bayous and the Cajun "joie de vivre". Hear how Cajuns turned soup into gumbo, the washboard into a musical instrument, and the swamps of Louisiana into a paradise.
See the nesting grounds of alligators, egrets, raccoons, nutria, and snakes. Be treated to a Bayou Nature Wildlife Show by a local naturalist with snakes, alligator snapping turtles, and raccoons among the animal guests. Learn about the efforts made to preserve and restore Louisiana's vanishing wetlands. Tour is approximately 3.75 hours.
Oak Alley Plantation Tour:
Feel the gentle breeze of Southern hospitality on a tour that takes you back to the glory of the Old South! Marvel at the unbelievable quarter-mile long alley of 28 oak trees, each over 250 years old. Perhaps the most photographed plantation ever, Oak Alley, built in 1839 has been the setting for such motion pictures as "Interview with a Vampire", "Primary Colors" and the daytime soap opera, "Days of our Lives".
Your guided tour will reveal the fascinating stories of the home and its history. View the majestic cypress trees in Louisiana's swamps bordering the Mississippi River. You can purchase a snack in the cafe and ice cream parlor to enjoy at the picnic tables (not included). Tour is approximately 4.5 hours.

The plantation tour was fantastic, our bus driver was informative and friendly, and made some stops for pics that he didn't have to. Try the Mint Julep - yum! _br/_ The swamp tour the next day was great also, and the swamp was not what we expected -- in a good way! The tour guide was really knowledgable and passionate about the swamp, and we got to hold a 2yr old 'gator!_br/_ Only bad thing was getting the tickets from the office -- the staff were not very helpful, and initially gave us tickets for the Friday (we were there and had booked tickets for the Mon/Tues) and then was confused as to why I asked her to change them!?_br/_ All in all 2 wonderful tours and experiences!

The captain was well-informed and humorous! The accomodations were more than adequate and the weather was great. We learned a great deal about the flora and fauna of the bayou and swamp. We would highly recommend this tour to our travelling friends. It is a shame that the drive out to the bayou is so long, but that still did not diminish our enjoyment!

Very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide on the Swamp and Bayou tour, who made time to point out the alligators, plants and animals in and surrounding the Swamp and Bayou. Highly recommended. Plantation tour was also interesting, though a little dry, but well worth having a look round. The plantation is not very big, so may be more interesting to look at a larger one.

My wife and I enjoyed both tours! The guides were very informative and knowledgeable about their surroundings. I would recommend these tours for everyone that wants to learn more about Louisiana. The tours are well worth the money we spent on them!

August 2009
The swamp and bayou tour was okay. We just streamed down a swamp, nothing big. We saw some alligators swimming by. The boat was full with everyone from the bus. I would have liked it more if there were fewer people on the boat. As for the plantation, that was okay. They just brought you to a big house and we saw the inside. Just a redone house with non-original furniture. No pictures were allowed inside. The bus ride was more interesting than the tour of the grounds. They showed a video of the Laura Plantation and the bus driver pointed out some stuff. I wouldn't recommend either one of these. Just tourist attractions. As for the booking, a little confusing with when and where for each tour.

The bus drivers were full of information which made it interesting. Both tours were like being at Disneyland. Not real stories, but something that was created for the benefit of the tourists.
