Tour of Oak Alley Plantation

New Orleans, United States of America

Feel the gentle breeze of southern hospitality on a tour that takes you back to a time of mint juleps, gracious living and the glory of the Old South. Oak Alley is your destination on this 4.5 hour tour, that takes you into the stunning plantation home, built over 165 years ago. Listen to fascinating and amusing stories of the home and its history, presented by your professional guide.

Experience a bygone era in one of the South's most beautiful settings - Oak Alley Plantation, built in 1839. Marvel at the unbelievable quarter-mile long alley of 28 magnificent Oak trees, each over 250 years old.

Perhaps the most photographed plantation ever, Oak Alley has been the setting for such motion pictures as "Interview with a Vampire", "Primary Colors" and the wedding of Bo and Hope from the daytime soap opera, "Days of our Lives".

Your guided Oak Valley Plantation tour will reveal the fascinating stories of the home and its history. View the Majestic Cypress Trees in Louisiana's swamps bordering the Mississippi River. You can purchase a snack, salad or sandwich in the Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor to enjoy at the picnic tables or aboard the coach (not included in price).

What a great trip. Our driver was wonderful. He kept up a running commentary of what we were seeing along the route. The plantation was nice and the pralines were the best

I would have like to see more of the grounds...the slave quarters, ect. and NOT just the house.
Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better

takes 1.5 hours to get there and then another 1.5 hours to get back. had a mint julep and had to throw it out, it had so much whiskey and bourbon in it. the tour was interesting but i wish we saw where the slaves stayed and more stories about that.

The bus driver gave us an mini tour as we drove from the city out to Oak Alley. I wasn't expecting that and it was very nice. The plantation grounds, the trees and the house are lovely. The tour at the house was nice, but could have been done a little more efficiently, as our tour was stuck out on the veranda while another tour was upstairs. Since we had a deadline to get back to the bus, this wasted valuable time that could have been spent exploring the grounds, shopping or eating.

We are telling everyone what a GREAT tour this was, just wish we had been able to stay longer at the plantation for the amount of time it took us to get there.
