2-Day Niagara Falls Tour from New York by Bus

New York City, United States of America

Leave the hustle and bustle of New York City behind and enjoy a relaxing 2-day overnight trip to Niagara Falls. You'll travel to upstate New York by bus and visit both the American and Canadian sides of the falls to discover the majestic beauty of Niagara! This overnight tour is a must-do when visiting New York City!

Departing from the Big Apple, you'll head north and pass the beautiful Delaware Gap to Watkins Glen State Park in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. Stroll through the impressive Watkins Glen Canyon and visit the beautiful waterfalls before continuing on past Seneca Lake to Niagara Falls. Arriving to the falls in the late afternoon, you'll tour the American Side and visit all the major highlights including the American Falls, Goat Island and Sisters Islands. At night, you'll tour Niagara Falls where you can appreciate the colorful lighting of the waters.

Leaving the hotel the next day, you'll hear the thundering water of Niagara Falls. See the falls up close from the Horseshoe Falls and experience the power aboard the Maid of the Mist (May-October only). In the winter time, you'll visit the Scenic Tunnels and Journey Behind the Falls, standing in the mist where the powerful Horseshoe Falls tumbles from 13 stories above! At approximately noon, you'll depart south and head back to New York City by bus. On the way back, you'll enjoy a shopping excursion at one of the large outlet malls along the way and find a great bargain at the many brand name stores!

The above advertised per person price is based on a party of three booking

Please note:

  • The overnight stay is scheduled for hotels on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Customers without necessary documentation will be arranged with an overnight accommodation on the American side of Niagara Falls: please state 'US visa only' in the 'Special Requirements' box at time of booking.

Excellent trip, Niagara falls was amazing, guide was informative and helpful. Only thing i would change is i'd prefer if they didn't stop at fast food chains during the bus trip.

The trip was awesome. Definitely going on the Canadian side of the falls was amazing. There was alot to do! Plenty of restaurants and attractions to see. The American side on the other hand has almost nothing to offer except one casino. Also, from the Canadian side we were able to go into a tunnel that leads you under the falls and gives you a great view from under. If you are looking to book a majestic trip at a good price then this is it....but be forwarned! Come with a passport or you will be left on the American side and you will have wasted your money.

Tour was good overall. Niagara is a LONG way by bus. The tour leaders weren't the best on day one - we started 30 minutes late and every stop took much longer than planned meaning that it was a 10 hour drive. And that was no traffic problems at all. Was well worth it when we got there as the Falls were great. Return journey was much better being 8 hours as the tour leaders managed the stops better.

Not sure which bus company you use, but the driver, Marcus, provided the smoothest journey. We were also lucky ego have him on our Boston tour, a real professional._br/_ rgds Neil McKay

Even though the falls were amazing I can only give 1 star as the tour it self was horrible. We were expecting a large luxury bus as previously descried, however we were instead ushered to a 9 seater minivan that became 7 seats once everyones bags were onboard.. Being a smaller van, the driver sped pretty much the whole way, on icy and wet roads, which felt extremely unsafe! The driver and 'guide' were fighting in a foreign language/broken English most of the way it was quite unsettling.. We stopped to pick up what seemed to be a 'friend' of the tour guide and he spoke to him in Israeli pretty much the whole drive it was very awkward. 2 Stops over 7 hours was not desirable and not what was stated in the description (a toilet on a bus). Once we got to the Falls, yeah, it was breathtaking, but the whole journey there put a dampener on the experience and left us with nothing but anxiety for the trip back. We were given some ideas on where to go for dinner but felt forced into eating with the rest of the group, it was an ok place but frankly we had money to spend and the pasta was basically sauce out of a can. The tour guide made racist and inappropriate comments the whole time it was so uncomfortable. The ride home we were rushed onto the bus before the sun even came up, yet stopped at the outlet store in Pennsylvania FOR 2.5 hours!!! The tour was completely mismanaged, it seems like your experience is entirely based on what day and how many people have booked. I honestly thought at one stage we could die the driver was so erratic. I will not recommend this trip TO ANYONE! LOOK ELSEWHERE!

great trip, commentary along the way, and worth doing this by bus, to see some of the countryside and activities along the way. timing was everything also, to ensure we got the most out of the time at the falls, and was all well organised.

Excellent trip. Coach transport accommodation and the tour guide were really good. The breakfast and lunch stops at McDonalds and Burger King were a bit ordinary though. More time at Niagara and less time shopping would be better. Great two days. Thanks.

Great trip, however i feel that we could have been booked into a better hotl for the amount that we are charged, secondly perhaps need to look at what can be done for travellers that cannot go over to the cannadian side, perhaps a mini tour on the american side can be arranged.

Fantastic tour! I am glad that we did the bus tour, and not by air, as the scenery up and on the way back were amazing! The falls themselves were undeniably breathtaking, and the tour guide and bus driver took us to many different vantage points. The hotel was better than expected, and even had free wifi. Breakfast was included of yummy Canadain pancakes! Tour and bus guide really went above and beyond, they were fantastic!

Our experience has been less than satisfactory essentially because we found the proceedings lack professionalism. To give you two examples, we were to be picked up from Grand Central Station at 7:00AM; instead the bus arrived at around 7:20AM and after checking of all documents etc. we finally hit the road only at 8:00AM. As a result we reached Niagara only after 6:00PM and the laight had started to fade and we hads hardly anything to see on Day 1. Next day, we were supposed to be picked up between 8:30AM and 8:40AM from our hotel (we had stayed back in the American side) and were pre-warned that there can be some delay due to traffic on the border/bridge. The bus actually came at 10:15AM!! The planning looks pretty poor and we came back with a feeling that we did not get our full money's worth!!

To be 100% honest, I was a little concerned about this tour because of some of the reviews I had read. However, I am not sure if we were just lucky but the tour was fantastic! Everything was very well organised. The tour guide ran a tight ship so both days ran completely on time. The bus stopped every couple of hours so that we could eat or stretch our legs. The stop at Watkins Glen gorge on day one was definitely enjoyable and on day two we had two hours of shopping time at the retail outlets. Niagara Falls itself was a highlight of our trip. The weather was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the Maid of the Mist. Both sides of the falls were very scenic but make sure you see the Canadian side if possible. The night we spent in Buffalo was also very enjoyable, particularly for our young children, as the town is almost like a mini Las Vegas for kids - they absolutely loved it! The Super 8 hotel was also very good for what you pay - clean and with everything you require for a one night stay. I was pleasantly surprised (although I did hear our guide say that we were in the newer section, so perhaps the older section is not as good). Thanks Viator - this tour was definitely worth it!

Accommodation in Canada top class with a whirlpool in our bedroom, you'll regret it, if you don't book now._br/_ Even the guild had a great sense of humour and knew his stuff. Shopping trip at outlet all bargains and in fashion!

Thanks so much for a fantastic tour!! We had a amazing time although it was long and tiring. Boris was a brilliant host with a great lot of information and dry sense of humor making the long trip interesting and fun. Our kids enjoyed it also...not easy for young kids to sit on a bus for 8 hours each day. Would definately recommend.

Despite a long bus drive (8 hours each way) the time flew by as our guide made sure that everything moved along as it needed to to allow us the time at Niagara. The trip was well worth it. Our guide was fantastic and the hotel we stayed in on the Canadian side was great. The time at Niagara falls was more than enough time as our guide made sure that we were constantly on time. A wonderful experience.

Well, to begin with the tour started a bit late due to some missing people...it was probably viator's fault as these people were provided a special car by the company to catch with us half on the way (almost 4 hrs of drive!!)...then the breakfast halt was for 45 min so that these people could catch up with us!! but they dint n joined us after lunch....the rest of the day was quite uneventful..._br/_ Hotel that night was horrible....they could have booked in something better with a little more money...breakfast was almost nothing...self service..._br/_ they got us out of niagara ON TIME...but to give us almost 2 hours at some company outlets outside NY...most of us dint want a halt at that time....and some who wanted came back to bus late!! bet viator had some commission..._br/_ reached after 8 at NY...company refused to drop us at PENN STATTION...some of us had to travel to NJ and we missed the train since we couldnt get a cab from grand central station to Penn St. due to the rush hour!!_br/_ I would not recommend this tour to anyone...and will be careful about going by the viator tours the next time (the tour of this company in Brussels was pretty good)..._br/_ Tourists may prefer travelling by train....atleast you have your own control on travelling times...

Really needs to be a 3 day tour. It took 14hrs before we hit the canadian side (pitch black) and then you leave so early the next morning you don't get to see the canadian side of the falls..best view was the wait to cross the border on the bus.

Firstly I booked on an English tour, it was a mixed tour with an interpreter for the non English speaking passengers The tour leader spent most of the tour speaking to the non English. The tour was 35 minutes late leaving and from then on we were rushed. Niagara Falls was well worth the trip. The Maid of the Mist boat ride was amazing.

Fantastic trip, must do trip if your in town. Unexpected shopping time, great interesting guide, perfect movies for the long drags between attractions. Not enough time at Niagara, its to cool to take in in only a couple of hours. Get ready for Mc D's for breakfast and BK for lunch, yuck. thats my only gripe.

It was a bit of a chaos during pickup time as there were two buses departing the same. One was for the Italian group and the other for English speaking group. An annoucenemt by the drivers to sort out the two goups would have been good instead of letting us wonder if we were suppose to be on bus no 1 or bus no 2.

A long way to go, but with good company. Tour guide was excellent and the scenery dramatic. A big plus was a visit to Watkins Glen - another waterfall (no always available due to weather). Wrap up warm as Canada was a bit colder than New York and prepare to get damp - good walking shoes would be useful too. Would we go again? No, we've seen it and once is enough, but would I recommend it to a friend? Yes.

Great trip, Great tour guide - Bos? Extremely organised, helpful and knowledgeable - Great driver - Marcos, V comfortable bus. The only downside was the fact that the Easter holiday had started on the Friday - unknownst to the company. Waiting 4 hours to cross the border back to US was most disappointing. I really think the customs officials should be lobbied by bus companies to open more bus lanes and deal with tourists in a more efficient manner.

could not see the falls from canada side as we were denied entry because of lack of canadian visa. requirement of canadian visa for this trip was not mentioned in your tour itinerary and was not brought to our notice inspite of booking in advance with sufficient time between date of booking and date of tour. we could have easily obtain the visa for entering canada had you brought it to our notice immediately after confirmation of booking. failure to inform us about the requirement of visa for indian tourists to enter canada to see niagra falls, is a deficiency on your part and this has caused us unnecessary harrasment as well as disappointment and anguish and spoiled the holidays for which we spent hard earned money.

We enjoyed the trip. At night it was unsafe to walk on our own from the falls to the Hotel 8 because the walk way and the road was all dug up and our guide did not accompany us or wRn us of the road condition . Other than that we liked everything else.

Niagara Falls itself was amazing. The maid of the mist cruise was to die for. You are taken right up into the falls which is something you can't miss if you go to Niagara Falls. The trip there and back was dreadful. We got stuck with a new driver so he did not know the directions to Niagara Falls and drove 50 miles an hour the whole trip there in a 65 miles speed limit zone so the estimated 6-8 hour road trip came out to be 10 hours. But I guess we were just very unlucky that day!!

the tour was good. the inn was great i didnt like the 'party games' on the bus. would have liked stops not in fast food places but i understand there are none. the night in Canada was a bit of a waste because we didn't know where to go and what to do and most places were closed. maybe that should have been organized too and not free time. nice trip in general.

It appeared that the tour was an amalgamation of tour groups or different groups run by the same parent company. I was the only native English speaker on the tour - the rest were Spanish and Israeli. There was no indication that the tour may be run with other groups when I made the booking. We got into Niagara late because of members of the tour always been late getting back to the bus which was frustrating. Guides were pretty good.
