Boston Freedom Trail Day Trip from New York

New York City, United States of America

Take a day trip from New York to explore Boston, a city of culture and old world charm. You'll follow the famous red-brick Freedom Trail through downtown Boston, passing 16 sights including Paul Revere's House and Boston Common.

Departing New York, you'll take a picturesque drive along the eastern coast through Connecticut to Massachusetts and its capital, Boston. Your time in Boston starts with a drive along the Freedom Trail. As well as downtown sights, the Freedom Trail leads to Boston harbor, site of the famous Tea Party, the navy ship Constitution and Bunker Hill.

After lunch, (not included) at Quincy Market and a visit to Boston Common, you'll cross the Charles River to stroll in the squares of the universities of Cambridge, Harvard and MIT, before returning to New York.

This tour was a little disappointing comapred with our trip to Washington. The mini bus that we travelled in wasn't really comfortable and I would have liked to have seen more of Boston. Another hour or two in Boston would have made a big difference.

The luxury coach was nothing more than what someone else called a camper bus. Disgusting. Also the guide was out for a day for himself and not informative. Most disappointing when you pay so much and have looked forward to this trip for months.

You spend most of the time on the road, and it can be crowded inside the van. Tour guides are very kind.

It was a great day - just wish I could have stayed longer. There is so much to see in Boston. The bus was comfortable and guide was very knowledgeable.

The trip is good if you are into history. Even though he did show us a few good things and explained it, he could still have been better.

The tour guides knew nothing about Boston, had a bad attitude and kept fighting between themselves. It was poorly organised - the bus was overbooked so some customers had to stand up for 20 minutes until we drove to where we collected a bigger bus. Worst tour I have ever been on!

I think the trip in Boston city was very hurried. We did not have enough time to take photos or see some attractions!

The trip to Boston was on time and efficient - however the driver and the tour guide were not native english speakers. It was a little odd touring one of America's greatest historical cities with tour guides that weren't American and had only learned of the history by reading the guide book. We did however, get another point of view which was interresting. I've been on tours at different locations around the world and the best ones utilized tour guides that were local experts rather than just anyone who could speak a bit of english and could read the guidebook.

The tour guide was well informed. The locations we were taken to were great. Loved Boston!!! However, we did not get back to New York until after 11p.m. It was an extremely long day.

The trip was excellent. The guide was very good. I would definitely use Viator again when next in the U.S.A.

We had a delay in the start up of the trip, because the guide did not appear and have to be replaced by a spare one. Rest of the trip was ok.

The bus driver was late and uncooperative, and the trip took too long. The bus was unfit for the long journey.

We did not see much of Boston. The guides also had to translate for two other non-English groups.

The sights of Boston were fantastic. We wish it wasn't such a long drive, as we would have loved to have spent longer. The day would have been a lot better if we had a capable driver. This was very disappointing and very dangerous. The driver fell asleep while driving us to Boston. Prior to this, she was driving all over the road, not staying in her lane. The poor tour guide had to take over and drive, as well as explain where we were going, and what we were going to see. The driver sat in the back seat and slept for the rest of the trip. She was very unfriendly. We were not impressed with being put in an unsafe situation. The tour guide was very lovely, and we felt very sorry for her. The other tourists on the tour were also unimpressed, and we all considered getting the train back from Boston, rather than getting back in the bus. We would have taken the train if the driver had said she was driving us home, but fortunately the tour guide drove us back.
