Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour

New York City, United States of America

A somber and respectful experience, the Ground Zero Museum Workshop Tour is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to commemorate and celebrate the lives of those lost on 9/11.Each item has an eyewitness story or personal account by your tour guides, all of whom participated in the recovery.

The Ground Zero Museum Workshop in the Meat-Packing District on West 14th street features stunning images, rare video and remnants from the Ground Zero Recovery Period, all packed into an intimate and emotional space. On display are 100 of Gary Marlon Suson's most well-known images, including the charred Genesis 11: Tower of Babylon Bible Page found in the WTC rubble, the Frozen Clock stuck at 10:02am, marking the collapse of the South Tower and several FDNY Honor Guard images. The actual clock itself is also on display in the museum.

The only all-access, sanctioned photographer at Ground Zero, Suson's one-of-a-kind, 3-D photo installations place viewers into the "hole" at Ground Zero. Visitors are also allowed the rare opportunity to pick up and hold World Trade Center steel and window glass. The Non-Profit Museum, a must-see before visiting Ground Zero, also benefits numerous 9/11 and Fire Department-related charities and is endorsed by many noted firefighters and 9/11 families. Tours are limited to just 25 people, and include a powerful 15-minute video.

The Ground Zero Museum is about 5-minutes from Ground Zero via the "E" train. Daily tours last about 90 minutes and include the intimate stories behind 100 images and remnants. This is a "don't-miss" museum that touches the heart of young and old alike. No graphic or morbid images are displayed and the museum is known for its sensitivity to a very tough subject matter. Suitable for children.

Wasn't overly impressed with the GZ workshop tour. The tour began with a short video then a self guided tour of the pictures, artifacts and debris of GZ. Small room with everything crammed in that would "easily fill a museum 10 times the size of this room". Tour guide was knowledgable and I took some interesting photos but I felt disappointed overall.

Amazing and very touching experience. Lucky enough to meet Gary (the official photographer for the fire service and the only photographer allowed access for the whole time). Beware it is a little way from the ground zero site and the underground was having work done when we were there so took about 20 mins to get there from ground zero.

This was my and my fiance second time at the work shop in as many years, The loss of so many precious lives from such a senseless ack is felt in so many ways. The workshop has helped us connect to those lives that were lost in such a traggic event, and to help us all grieve in our own way.

This was a very meaningful part of out trip to NYC._br/_ The museum is very intimate and realistic to the unfortunate events of 9/11. Being able to see the actual artifacts and hear the stories of individuals speaks to the soul. A true reminder of how many lives were sacrificed and how important it is to honor those who fight daily that we as American citizens can remain free! May God Bless the Families and our Nation.

Worthwhile tour but would be better if incorporated with Ground Zero Memorial. It is a bit of a pain to need to do these 2 things separately in different parts of the city rather than one whole experience.

Found the Ground Zero Museum hard to find nobody in NYC seemed to know where it was! but when we did find it we found it to be a very touching experience, the audio information for the pictures and items that had been recovered from the twin towers was very moving.

More about the photographer, Mr Suson than the tragedy, go to other ground zero museum at fire house

Considering the workshop took place in a single small room and focused on the aftermath of the tragedy this was an inceribly moving experience and well worth a visit. Workshop includes photographs, recordings, personal stories of individuals, artefacts all of which combine to provide a greater understanding of both the tragic events and heroism from the emergency services.

The GZMWorkshop Tour was very good. Fine photos and items available to see closely. When we arrived however, they only had us down for 3, not the 5 which I had on my confirmation page. Fortunately they fit us in.

we spent two hours here, very informative, very hard hitting get your hankies ready. This is a must when you visit New York if you are interested in 911. This man was the only photographer allowed into ground zero to document the clear up from start to finish. No images of bodies or gore. it is situated on the same street as the i-shop with only a sign on the wall and a flag banner above.

Very very moving. Small and intimate but very informative. If you want to understand the human sacrifice some of the most moving stories surrounding the aftermath then this is the place. On a lighter side, the musuem is also situated in a very nice part of NY, So spend some time wandering around the area as well.
