As first time visitors to NYC, we found the HOHO buses to be a great way to see the city! Since we were only in NYC for 3 days, we purchased a 48 hour pass. This allowed us to get a great overview of the city, and we had plenty of time to do both the uptown and downtown loops in their entirety as well as the nighttime city tour which also takes you into parts of Brooklyn as well. We also used the buses a couple of times on the second day for transportation to various parts of the city. Overall, we found the buses to be easy to use and we never had to wait very long to get one as they seemed to be running frequently enough to keep the good sized holiday week crowd moving. Most of the buses we rode were filled to near-capacity each time that we used them. The various tour guides we had were all very entertaining and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend the HOHO buses if you are looking to be able to see a lot of the city in a short amount of time, and particularly get a "lay of the land" before setting out on your own. If you are using them for basic transportation, they do go to most of the popular tourist destinations, but you definitely need to have adequate time in your schedule as it may take you up to an hour or two to get to your desired destination since the buses follow specific routes. Also be aware that some of the buses do one-way runs, so if you want to do for instance, the whole downtown loop, you may have to get off at Battery Park and catch another bus to continue!

Good Guides, can only hop on off at certain stops, not very well highlighted, guides could do with telling you which stops were coming up. cover a good area overall.

When visiting NYC on a short trip you need to pre-plan what you want to do._br/_ The 72hr hop-on-hop-off bus tour from Gray Line is one of the best ways to see all the major sights with informative guides and not worry about how to get to and from them when you're ready to explore._br/_ Plus we got the choice of 3 attractions which we chose on arrival. The Gray Line tours have 4 different tours in NYC - Uptown (for central park and museums), Downtown (for shops, statue of liberty), Brooklyn and Night tours. All the tour guides were very informative and added their own slant on their tours.

This was well worth the money - the bus was easy to hop on and off, I would recommend this to all that are new to NY! The ideal is to go round the loops, get a feel for the place, then use is as hop on and off you soon get to know where things are. Shorter journeys between places instead of the whole loop after the initial as the whole loop is about 2hrs. 4 stars !!!

Because of new laws in the city, the tour guide was unable to use the loud speakers on the bus. As such, we were provided headphones, which made it extremely difficult to hear. Thanks to the static, I probably only caught a quarter of what was said. And I heard several other customers make complaints during the ride, only to be given a speech by the guide about how we should complain to the company while making sure to tell them that our tour guide was nice, it was just the headphones that caused the issue.

This is a must to add to your itinerary. Opted for the 48hr pass which gave 4 very good tours. Try and get on early though as the queues can get very long.

A very easy way to see a city. We used extensively over 2 days but there was a bit of a wait for buses. They could have had more buses running as often full.

We really enjoyed our time in NYC… the Hop-on and Hop-off tour provided lot information and it is a quick way to see all New York attractions… I would definitely recommend aviator or grey line to anyone. Even though when we took the night tour we were freezing and we ended up with our face all red because of the cold wind... it was all worth it.

The tour was pretty much what I expected. Buses were clean enough and stops clearly marked. Bus schedules (frequency) could have been stated more clearly in the brochure._br/_ Most of the tour guides were all right, some even funny and smart. But one guy on the uptown loop wasn't up to his job. He was rude and coarse. Waiting to get on board, we saw him pressuring the customers for tip. When we entered the bus and I was passing him, he grabs my arm and says "Hey, ladies first!". I see his point, but a) he didn't know that my wife HAD ASKED me to go first, and b) you NEVER should lay hand on a customer. Quite obvious that he, unlike the other guides, didn't get any tip from us.

Good tour but 72 hrs was not enough time to fully experience everything. Be careful to check the signs as they have old signs on the street from a tour company that went broke and they never removed them. It is very confusing and you could be left missing several busses because you are unsure where to get on if that was not the stop you got off at.

Excellent way to get your bearings in the city with plenty of history and information. _br/_ Helps to work out where the the bus ticket office is in relation to your hotel before you get there as you have to go to collect boarding passes before you can ride the bus._br/_ Used the 72 hour ticket to see all areas of the and get back to near hotel ( hop on hop offf no problem). Have plenty of small bills to use as tips as you will be regularly reminded that it is how the guides make their money.

The Hop-on Hop-off tour was great. Very easy to use and the bus drivers were excellent. Most of the guides were very knowledgable. One lady had a very think English accent and it was very difficult to understand her. We sure enjoyed the commentaries and learning about NYC. It would have been nice to receive a pass via email, so that we did not have to stand in line at the business office to get our passes. We loved the Up Town tour and the Down Town tour but would probably not take the Night tour again, due to time limits. We were only in NYC 3 days and it took up some of our "shopping" time. LOL (the guide and the tour were fine though) The workers for this company standing outside the buses were very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this Hop- on Hop-Off tour and would definitely take it again. Great way to get around the city without worrying about parking or subway stuff. Thank you.

Although the tour guide and bus drivers were professional and knowledgeable, the wait times for the next buses were too long. Usually one every 30 minutes as other tour companies had three buses come by in the time we were waiting. Also, I didn't think it was very convenient when we were asked to get off at Rockefeller Center for Central Park and wait for the next bus that was "5 minutes" behind to continue on what is a scheduled planned route. Twenty-five minutes of waiting we decided to visit Top of The Rock and the cab it to Central Park. Not very convenient when you're time is limited in New York.

Very interesting and independent way to know the city at a reasonable price... Did not like that the bus had some leakage in the roof and it was raining, so me and my husband git all wet in the night tour (it was freezing!)

Very mixed. Some of the guides were attrocious - rude and opinionated and frankly offensive. One man stood out as pleasant, knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to. The others were merely average.

I have been to NYC twice in the past 9 months. Both times I used the Hop on Hop off Tour. I like it when the person narrating the tour can speak english. Both times, the upper manhattan tour bus was ruined by a naraator that cannot speak clear english - not even close - I had no idea what the person was saying despite my best effort. However, the lower manahttan tour was great both times as the narrators both spoke clear english. The tours are great if you are new to NYC and you get a good narrator. Winter time there are not as many busses as summer time, so you will have to wait longer in the winter to catch a ride.

Buses were excellant, a great way to see all the sights in NY. We certainly wouldnt have been able to if it wasnt for them!! The staff on the trips were excellant and really informative although some of the foreign staff were really hard to understand and i missed alot of bits! My only negative would be they have more buses more often as 2-3 city sights buses went passed out stop before ours even came.

Fantastic way to get an overview of the city. We just hopped on without hopping off. In the 48 hours we managed to do all the loops - guides were interesting and quite funny at times. I would not use it as a means of transport to get around - walking and the subway is much better.

They did a great job of pointing out all kinds of interesting things that would have taken at least a week to read about. All of the staff were helpful and friendly; only difficult part was waiting for the transfers-in cold weather it can get a bit uncomfortable, but overall a great experience and very educational! Very informative guides on board. did the downtown loop which has really interesting stops. Only problem was he sheer volume of people using the buses (it was New Year). which made us reluctant to get off. At one stop 3 full buses went by and the queues were very long. It was bitterly cold also which made the upstairs a 'no go' for us.

Not impressed. The lady on the New York City Hop-on Hop-off bus greeted me with 'Have you got a problem' when I was asking the driver which bus would take me to the pier to do the boat tour. Her tone was sooo rude. So after being sent backwards and forwards between buses trying to find out which bus would take me to the Pier I ended up walking. It proved to be much quicker. I spent longer trying to find out which bus than it actually took me to walk to the Pier. The hop-on hop-off might be ok for some, but it didn't work for me.

Excellent tour which covered all the sites and more that you wish to see on a trip to NY. A really good way to start off a visit. Also for the visitor it is a good way of getting around stopping off at the sites you wish to see in detail before reboarding and going on to the next one. The commentary on the whole was very good, some more interesting with the addition of little known facts, or fiction, to make various areas "come alive".

This is the 2nd time I've taken this trip and would do it again in a heartbeat. There are 4 loops to the trip which you can do whenever you like over a 2 day period. There are different, knowledgeable guides on each bus. if you dont like the guide, get off the bus and get on the next one which we never did because they were all excellent. You get to see all of Manhattan without using your feet, which after seeing how big the place is you will know it's a good idea. You can hop and and off the busses at any of the stops to see the sights along the way. Do this at the beginning of your trip and get an idea for where everything is and what you'd like to do for the rest of the trip in each area of the city. AN EXCELLENT THING TO DO.

This was great fun, the guides really knowledgeable and funny too. Be sure to find out where the tour you want leaves from, some leave from Times Square others from 7th Ave. Would recommend the night tour, you get great views of Manhattan at night from Brooklyn. Take a jumper / sweater as it can be cold and windy on the top of the bus
