The Hamptons, Sag Harbor and Outlet Shopping Day Trip from New York City

New York City, United States of America

Enjoy a day away from Manhattan and journey to the ever-popular Hamptons on Long Island. You will also have the opportunity to explore Sag Harbor, a quaint 300-year old seaside village. Your day is finished off with a shopping visit to the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.

You will depart New York through the borough of Queens, leaving the hustle and bustle of the big city behind. You'll begin to appreciate why the rich and famous chose to make Long Island their own personal playground when the scenery transforms from tall buildings to magnificent landscaping and gorgeous flowers in the springtime.

Your first stop will be at Riverhead, where you will enjoy a typical country breakfast (not included), then continuing East, you pass the Long Island Duck before arriving to the famous Southhampton - home to residents such as Jerry Seinfeld, Paris Hilton, David Letterman and Steven Spielberg. This is definitely the place to see and be seen!

You will start your tour strolling down the picturesque main street, before heading down through the historical area the harbor and along Ocean Drive, passing some of the homes of the rich and famous along the way. After you have had your fill of the rich and famous, you will continue to Sag Harbor, a picturesque and quaint town that invites its visitors to enjoy its unique atmosphere. Take your time to tour the harbor and see the yachts that are the toys of the rich, then stop at the antique stores or the old world shops for some real bargains.

After lunch (not included) you will head west towards the Tanger Outlets where you will receive mall goodies and then explore the stores - find your own bargain with brand name stores for less. In the late afternoon you will depart west for an evening arrival in New York City.

The guide was knowledgable and friendly and that's about the only thing I can say positive about the tour. The "country breakfast" in Riverhead was simply a quick stop for a continental breakfast at a local motel!!!! We were expecting quaint and cozy! The stop in Sag Harbour was short, but there was really nothing to see. The only attraction mentioned by our guide was a windmill, and wouldn't you know....it had been dismantled!!!! The fog was so thick we couldn't see the homes or the water in The Hamptons! I do realize this was Mother Nature's fault and not that of our tour guide. Our lunch choices were a chain sandwich shop, or the food court in the outlet mall!!!! Again, we were expecting and anticipating local flavor!!!!! This tour was our biggest disappointment of our entire trip!!!!

A great way to satisfy your Hamptons curiosity. Would have liked to have spent more time at Coopers Beach and I'd ditch the outlet shopping as there really isn't enough shopping time. Perhaps the outlet shopping should be a separate trip and add on another Hamptons stop. Otherwise well informed guide and comfy bus and loved loved loved this area of NY!

Guide was excellent and had great knowledge of the area and American history. If you want to do the outlets properly you would need to spend more than the 2 hours allocated on this combined tour.

The guide was great and did his best to try to ensure that everyone was having a good time, but I really can't recommend this trip. _br/_ For our tour, we were 13 people squashed into a mini-van. The weather, unfortunately, was atrocious. Driving rain made doing anything almost impossible. After an hour and a half of driving, we pulled into a Holiday Inn for a continental breakfast (optional/extra cost) but I don't think anyone on our bus actually ate anything....so personally I think that part of the trip should be omitted. _br/_ Sag Harbor and the Hamptons, I'm sure, are very pretty places in fine weather and it would have been nice if we could have strolled the streets but the weather was against us. _br/_ The outlet shopping part of the tour would appeal to some but, once again, the weather was against us as it is an open mall with not much under-cover._br/_ With peak traffic and lashing rain, the entire trip took 12 1/2 hours and that was really too long, particularly as squashed in as we were....

we find the trip worth the money. We saw a lot and we went to the beach, which was also nice, and the outlet was also great enough time to shop. we recommend it!

We didn't really stop at SAG harbour due to bad weather, thought we should have had more time at the outlets since we didn't spepnd the time at the harbour, Was ok felt very hurried at the factory outlets and all the driver and guide wanted to do was get back to beat the traffic

In general , tour was good ,but I should spend more time in the villages especially at noon in East Hampton to have a reasonable time to lunch and to see the village , also Sag Harbour is nteresting enough . I should spend less time in the outlets ,also because there is nothing to see for men !!!

The bus arrived an hour late to pick us up and the guides gave no explanation of the delay. Another hour late to return, the explanation was a flat tire understandable but very old bus........... Unprofessional guides.

Far too much time shopping at an out dated complex. Shops are not good and we did not see too much value. Very poor guide who spoke very poor english with a dangerous driver who broke the speed limit all day and drove with one hand while regularly using his mobile phone. Breakfast at a country store was a Holiday Inn help yourself buffet which was rubbish. More time spent at Sag Harbour would have made the rest more exceptable. I would not go on this one it is very bad value.

Loved this day trip and most importantly is satisfied my curiousity of the Hamptons. We saw most areas in that region and got to enjoy a beautiful lunch at the Marina. Many thanks to Marco who was an excellent guide, Michelle Brisbane

The first half of the trip was very nice with a good vehicle and nice guide. However, the restaurant he recommended at Sag Harbor had not opened for the season and a number of stores at Southhampton had not opened either. The return trip was not so satisfying - we spent 3 hours at the Tanger Outlet which only 2 couples really wanted to do. We knew we would be stopping there, but had no idea it would be for 3 hours. I would have preferred a shorter trip without the Outlet Mall visit.

Far too much time allotted to Outlet shopping and too little devoted to the Hamptons. It is more of a shopping tour than a Hamptons Tour.

The tour was ok. We saw South Hampton and did some outlet shopping, however the tour could have been better and the tour guide and driver could have been more focused on the travellers. They were frustrated with the size of the bus small van the company provided them which I think put them off side for the day, but didn't work that hard to resolve and make it fun and interesting for the travellers.

14 of us were packed into a 15 seat van with some passengers not congenial enough to rotate seats when they knew the back seats were terrible. We saw the exquisit homes only from the main road which didn't show us much and most of the stores in the villages we visited were closed. Driver was busy talking on the phone and swerved right into the oncoming traffic. I really was not impressed with the tour guide as he said no more than he had to. I did not get value for my money.

The shopping was great, but I was extremely disappointed in the tour of the mansions and the harbour. The mansions were difficult to see due to the shrubbery and trees and it would have been nice to have been told who owned the estates. There was absolutely nothing to see in the harbour, perhaps it was the time of year. But if that is the case, I feel we could have been told to expect to see nothing at that time of year before we booked. We were transported in a fifteen passenger van which was very uncomfortable. We had to sit at the back. The ride was bumpy and the temperature was either too hot or too cold. I felt it was a very expensive tour to see so little and be that uncomfortable for that long a ride!
