An Evening at Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace including Dinner and Candelight Visit

Paris, France

This evening tour offers a memorable opportunity to visit the enchanting 17th century Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace, which inspired the building of the Palace of Versailles. Get a guided tour of the Carriage Museum and then enjoy a luxury 3-course dinner, prepared by a high quality chef, in the beautiful grounds of the château. At sunset, explore the Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace and stroll around the beautiful gardens enjoying the classical music being played.

An exceptional evening! This enchanting château, a 17th century masterpiece which inspired Louis 14th to build Versailles, opens its doors to you. Your tour begins with a guided visit to the "Carriage Museum" where you can see horse-driven carriages from a roman carriage to the 20th century saloons.

Next, a 3-course candle-light dinner will be served in the L'Ecureuil restaurant in the château grounds including a complementary glass of red or white wine, water and coffee. The chef only uses seasonal French products from the local markets to prepare your high quality dishes. Vegetarian options are available.

After dinner, at sunset, you independently visit the château and stroll around the gardens brilliantly lit by 2,000 candles. Learn about the history of the Vaux-le-Vicomte Palace and France's first garden from your complimentary audio-guide. To accompany this exceptional moment, recorded classical music is played in the garden to bring in a special touch.

Enjoy a romantic and enchanting evening in 17th century France.

Picked up nicely at hotel in van with only 6 other people, taken directly to site, nice three course dinner with of course wine, then taken to tour of Palace, bypassed long lines and entered nicely and spent enjoyable time in the castle instead of waiting in long lines outside. Should make note not handicapped accessible, but the steps were not enough to stop my wife. At the end after the fireworks, taken back to the hotel. Nice.

Driver-host was competent and friendly. Building and grounds were impressive. Dinner was quite good, except that the wines were of less quality than expected for the 350th anniversary; however, this is not to say that the wines were bad or not good. That would not be the case. In keeping with being true to the era of the Chateau, the lighting inside was somewhat dim, ergo, viewing the art objects at night was not condusive to complete enjoyment; it is better, perhaps, to view the interior of the Chateau in the daytime. Everyone who was connected with the place was friendly and competent. The place really wows one.

The guide was great, on time, polite, spoke several languages and we got there in time to enjoy some daylight and the coach house before dinner. After dinner, I thought the house tour crowded and pushy but the fireworks were nice. Wish there had been music.

The evening was lovely and the candlelit palace was breathtaking. The dinner was simple, tasty and filling. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to combine French history, French dining and hospitality.

This event is definitely worth doing. Having said that, as I had planned this to be a very romantic surprise for my husband, I was taken aback that our 'private driver' was driving a van with alot of other people. I was expecting just the driver, my husband and myself. And then when we went in for dinner our table was all together with the other people in the van, not just the two of us. We did, however, still have a nice time at dinner and the dinner was very good. The tour of the chateau was fabulous, especially in candlelight, something we will remember always. So, again, even with the surprises, I would definitely put this on your to-do list when you go to Paris in the warmer months.

It would have been five stars, but our pick up was completely unorganized. We waited for almost an hour past the stated arrival time (which changed three times) before our guide arrived. He saved the day. The Guide was knowledgeable, informative and polite and made up for all the inconvenience. Oh, and the chateau was fantastic!

The tour was to celebrate a pre 'Mother's Day' dinner for my mother. She absolutely loved the dinner, Vaux le Vicomte palace its history and in particular, the fireworks.

This was a good trip that I would recommend if you've experienced everything in Paris already and want to see something beautiful outside of the city. The castle was beautiful, but the trip wasn't quite as elegant as I expected. The tour guide was nice, but I would have preferred more time to wander on my own. The food was buffet style as a result of poor planning by the tour operators. They faxed our reservation that same day, and the company at the chateau never got the fax, so we didn't have our privately served meal. That was extremely disappointing. I felt as though I had dressed up for nothing. I wished I had worn jeans, and I really didn't feel like it was worth the high cost. Consider this trip, but consider it wisely. It was enjoyable at times but expensive for what it was, so it was not quite spectacular.

Potentially a romantic evening. Unfortunately, there was unusual traffic in Paris and we were picked up about an hour or so late. The tour guide got lost in the dark and then drove recklessly to our destination. At times the ride felt unsafe. I think we had dinner about 10pm - too late. The candlelit chateaux was a very nice setting, the dinner was marginal. This could be a good tour if things went better.
