Giverny and Monet

Paris, France

Visit the beautiful home and garden that inspired the master of Impressionism, Claude Monet, on a half-day tour from Paris. The tour takes in Monet's restored home, garden and workshop at Giverny, where the famous Impressionist artist lived from 1883 to 1926. A particular highlight is the water-lily pond with its famous Japanese bridge which featured in many of Monet's masterpieces.

Your half-day tour to Giverny will take you through the Normandy countryside to the charming country village of Giverny, where Monet settled with his family. It was here in Giverny that Monet indulged his love of nature, in his painting, his gardening and his photography. As you stroll in the exquisite gardens and admire the pond and bridge, you'll enter into Monet's world where art and nature became one.

Half day tour of Giverny - decent guides - spoke english well. They do not go into the gardens/house with you - so the background is very generic on the bus on the way there about 20 minutes. You only have about 1 1/2 hours to explore the grounds - so if you need more - this is not the trip for you. It was fine for us - but we definately had to manage our time. Next time, I'd probably do the bike tour or take the train on my own. Tour is pricey for what you get.

Not really a guided tour as you are left to wander on your own. Well worth a visit

Quite disappointed in Monets Gardens in that the gardens although in Autumn, were in quite a state of unattention with lots of dead flowers and messy garden beds. The house and town were quite good and I'm sure that this would be quite beautiful at the right time of year

Even though the gardens were past their best the spirit of Monet was apparent in the house and garden. Good value. Guide excellent

A gem of a tour! This was the tour I was looking forward to most and it didn't disappoint! We had interesting commentary on the bus ride to Giverny about Monet and the Impressionists, then we were given 2 hours of free time to tour Monet's home and gardens. Monet's studio was breathtaking and the lily pond were everything you'd imagine it to be. We were lucky that the gardens were still in bloom even in October. My only caveat for this tour is you need to make your own way back to the bus, and our bus left early, so make sure you give yourself enough time to make your way through the village of Giverny to the bus. And a tip - if you don't like crowds, try returning to Monet's studio after visiting the lily pond. I did this and was the only one there, just soaking it all in!

Even though weather was cloudy, it still was a beautiful sight to see the gardens at Giverny. Tour guide was pleasant and helpful and we had enough time to do everything on the grounds and visit the house. We didn't do the museum, thought it would have been a little close with the time that was alloted us before we left to return to Paris.

An easy way to visit a place you have always wanted to see - however you don't get long there and the tour guide likes to keep you together. Expensive trip but worth it - to me anyway.

This "tour" insults even the word waste since even the term "waste" connotes the possibility of some prior use of which this debacle had none. Dear reader, please save your money and use it to book yourself a train to Vernon and then take a local bus or taxi to Giverney so you can take your time while visiting Monet's garden and house and also the delightful village and the Clark art gallery. We were rushed through and had no time for the Clark or perhaps to have lunch or dinner in Giverney. There was no tour, one was left to scurry in only 1:45, one hour 45 minutes, on their own. What little information was given on the bus could easily be provided better with Wikipedia. This was nothing but a 77 Euro bus ride with a truncated much too abbreviated stay at Giverney. In short, a ripoff, about $100 for a bus trip. Be advised to skip this bus ride and go by train on your own and be masters of your own time. Read Wikipedia and have some time to also visit the Clark, eat lunch and perhaps buy a painting from the delightful old artist Patrick Hans who also has a small gallery on the way to the Clark from Monet's house.

We visited Giverny on Sep 14th. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and the visit. The office in Paris was easy to find. The English guide was informative. The gardens are absolutely wonderful. We saw lots of waterlilies as well as the many other flowers in the gardens. The house was interesting. The gift shop offered an interesting selection of items. I'm looking forward to planting my poppy seeds next year. Thx.

Good excursion, nice new coaches and good guides. The only down side for me was that due to traffic we ended up with just over an hour at Giverny, which might not be enough for some people. Otherwise a great excursion and a wonderful place to visit.

When we arrived it was raining. The tour guides had us run from the bus to the house in the pouring. Lovely to spend the next 2 hours in soaking wet clothes. Could we not have waited 15 minutes until the rain let up? Or have the bus drop us at the entrance? _br/_ The bus driver smoked in the bus while we were away so when we returned it stank of tobacco. Wet and now tobacco. Sorry not my idea of a good afternoon. However it will be memorable.
