Giverny and Monet's Garden Small Group Day Trip from Paris

Paris, France

Visit the beautiful home and garden that inspired the master of Impressionism, Claude Monet, on a small group afternoon tour from Paris. The half-day, personalized tour takes in Monet's restored home and garden in Giverny, and you'll also visit the Musée des Impressionnismes Giverny. You'll be picked up and dropped off at your centrally located Paris hotel by air-conditioned minivan. Maximum of only 8 passengers and ensures you'll receive individual attention from your expert tour guide.

Your afternoon tour to Giverny will take you through the Normandy countryside to the charming country village of Giverny, where Monet lived with his family from 1883 until his death in 1926. It was here in Giverny that Monet indulged his love of nature, in his painting, his gardening and his photography. You'll be able to stroll in Monet's exquisite gardens and admire the water-lily pond and famous Japanese bridge which featured in his masterpieces.

The final stop on your artists' tour before returning to Paris is a visit to the Musée des Impressionnismes Giverny. The museum houses a number of works by American painters who traveled to Giverny to meet Claude Monet and draw inspiration from his Impressionist techniques.

We were picked up right on time from our Paris hotel. Our guide was just lovely - friendly and extremely knowledgeable and her driving excellent. We had sufficient time at Monet's garden to see everything we wanted to see and would highly recommend this trip to anyone staying in Paris who want to visit this little piece of heaven.

The guide had excellent English and Spanish language skills, and easily flipped from one language to the other to communicate with everybody on our tour. We learned a lot about the history of the areas we drove through while going to Giverny. Her driving skills coming back to Paris at rush hour were excellent. Loved walking through the garden and lily ponds, and the small museum had some lovely Renoir paintings. The little deli near Monet's house sold coffee and cocoa in to-go cups-this is not something you find easily in France!

We would highly recommend this tour. We were able to explore the garden, Monet's house and the museum at our leisure, and spend more time in one location that the other if we chose to do so.

Tour guides should have passed out map of Giverny on the bus and spent some time talking about Monet and Giverny on the bus.

A long drive, but as it was a small group in a comfortable van, it didn't feel long. The guide left us to wander on our own (which was fine), and we felt we had plenty of time to see and enjoy the gardens.

drivers english could be a little better...kind of a canned speech and not much personality..._br/_ could have used some landmark identifcations on the way of town...like eiffel tower, arch etc...for those that have not been there before...he had time to add something special to the trip...so he was not interesting at all...just a driver and canned speech about house...

Our driver was not very knowledgeable and gave a short and not very interesting or informative presentation on Monet during the trip to the gardens. Upon arrival he obtained our entrance tickets and then waited in the van for us to explore on our own. Better to take the train and a taxi--this "tour" was really just expensive transportation!

We had a lovely afternoon visiting Monet's Garden, although we were both a little disappointed in the overall garden itself. But our experience with Viator was an excellent one. Our tour guide Hubert was attentive, humourous and knowledgeable and we found the service provided by Viator excellent. We would certainly book with them again.

Great trip. Nice to be with a group of same language.guide was great but microphone broken so he was hard to hear. When I rang to confirm booking the agent seemed to only speak French so I had to get a French speaking person to confirm for me. Guide said this was not usual.

This was a wonderful experience. My wife and I visited Giverny in 1984. This visit was for our 14 year old granddaughter who we brought to France as a birthday gift. We all loved it. We especially enjoyed the fact that the driver traveled to and from Giverny by different routes pointing out interesting sites.

Excellent trip. Our tour guide Fabi had an immaculate small van, and provided good commentary during the trip. Quick access to Giverny was a bonus, also museum entrance. Very impressive and organised event.

This was a very nice day out. There were only 3 of us on the tour. The driver was good but a little hard to understand at times. Would recommend this tour to anyone we had enought time to see what we wanted to see and that was the most important thing.

Our guide was excellent, very professional, pleasant and informative. Monet's garden was lovely and interesting to see if you are familiar with his water lily paintings. They are, however, very small and crowded with tourists. The town is not that interesting. The Museum was not open so there probably was not quite enough to do on the day. If you have a particular interest in Monet this is worth it but if not I don't know that it is worth the time if you are going for the garden alone.

Our tour guide was Nicholas and he was superb at driving and providing the history. He was also very personable and shared his own experiences with us as a resident of Paris and French citizen. We very much enjoyed his expertise. Giverny is breathtaking. A clear sense of Monet's inspiration and vision were found by visiting this wonderful property. It was a highlight of our trip. .

A gloomy, drippy day with the same kind of driver. Giverny, of course, was beautiful in spite of the weather. Our driver communicated minimally, talking only about logistics of meeting to go back to Paris. Would have liked some commentary along the way about the local color and what we were about to see. Would not pick this particular tour again.

Monet's house and garden were most enjoyable. However, I didn't find that the guide had much information to give us on the way. Except for a brief history of Monet and his past. I would have expected more explanations of places on the way as well, and was a little disappointed that the only time the guide spoke was when we arrived in Giverny. A little disappointing for a small "private" tour.

This gets a four because of the gardens. This is a must see. And getting a ride there and back is good, but my guide was about an hour late and then we were rushed quite a bit. The guide does not join you in the gardens..the point of buying this is the pick up and drop off service and the tickets that get you right in rather than waiting in a long line.

How wonderful a trip this was! The small quaint towns were lovely to look at, and going to the gardens and Monet's house were great! Truthfully, the house was neat to look at but didn't take too long to go through, so I spent most of my time in the gardens. I went in October and it was still completely worth going! The gardens aren't in bloom, but you get an idea of what the one outside his house looks like in bloom. As for the water garden, well, it was still fantastic! I spent over an hour just walking around under the weeping willows and going over the Japanese bridges. To see the reflection of the clouds and the autumn-colored trees in the water was stunning! It was probably even better to go in the fall as there were fewer tourists which meant you got to enjoy more of the solitude. It's no wonder Monet painted such beautiful masterpieces - the real life inspirations were gorgeous!

Our guide was well informed and provided the group with a great deal of relevant information on our journey to Geverney. This is a small group tour with a hotel pick up, something I found extremely convenient. Unfortunately the group dynamics worked against the poor man, so not a great deal of interaction resulted, which was a pity, and certainly was not the guide's fault. Half day in Monet's garden is plenty, unless you are a garden freak. Don't miss this tour-the trip is comfortable and quite scenic, Monet's garden is a treat! Once in Geverney, your time is your own-this is fantastic, as you are not rushed through Monet's house, which is filled with treasures requiring quiet contemplation. Don't miss the small impressionist musem-it's well woth a look. The weather in this region can be tricky, so pack a small umbrella. We returned to Paris via a different route, which provided some interesting views of the local paysage. Monet's Garden is difficult to access by public transport.-Viator make it easy. If you love the impressionists, and have a fondness for Monet, this tour is a must-the Japanese garden is a truly memorable sight.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. We all learned a lot and loved not having to drive. We would never have found Monet's garden without her. She went out of her way to show us hidden treasures on the way back from the garden. We enjoyed every minute of our tour. Monet's garden was the highlight of our trip.
