Paris, France

Visit one of the most romantic and mysterious sites in Paris on a small group walking tour through Pere LaChaise cemetery. Numbers are limited to a maximum of 25 people on this small group tour, ensuring you'll receive personalized attention from your knowledgeable guide.

Most people wouldn't include a cemetery on their list of things to do when visiting a new city, but Paris' Pere LaChaise is different. Some of the most expensive and coveted grave real estate in the world, Pere LaChaise is home to 70,000 dead, including some of the most famous artists, writers and musicians the world has ever known.

The graves of the famous dead include the American musician Jim Morrison, English author Oscar Wilde, and French writers Balzac and Proust. On your guided meander through this romantic labyrinth of stones, trees and paths, your guide will point out the famous graves and hidden eccentricities that make this famous cemetery so special.

Discover one of the greatest and most tragic love stories of all time - that of Heloise and Abelard, now buried side by side after long years of separation. As we pass Chopin's tomb you can almost hear his best-known piece, the Funeral Dirge. We'll also find the resting place of Molière, the famous French playwright.

Join us on this extraordinary tour of Paris Pere LaChaise and hear the stories of the great people buried in this very special cemetery.

The four of us kicked off our week-long stay in Paris with a tour of Pere Lachaise. Our guide, Rutha, was so very welcoming and knowledgeable! Her tour was intriguing and informative, not only about the cemetery but about the history of the area. We were the only people on the tour that day and she was wonderful in answering our questions and in customizing the tour to what interested us. Pere Lachaise itself is a fascinating place with beautiful plantings, moving memorials, and amazing monuments. This tour was a great way to spend our first afternoon in Paris!

Terrific guide. (sorry I forget her name) but she was excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable, and allowed us to spend time at the tombs we were interested in. I had thought I could manage without a guide, but I would actually have been totally lost without her. _br/_ Also a very interesting place to visit that was unusual and free of other tourists.

It rained all day and we got soaked. But if anything this suited the mood of this tour. It was magnificent and the guide was great.

Jenny was an excellent tour guide - very knowledgeable and informative. Because of demonstrations going on at the cemetery, she needed to alter her normal route; she did so very competently. She was very pleasant and outgoing and really seemed to enjoy her job. We would be very happy to take another tour with her and will recommend this tour to others.

I have always wanted to visit this cemetery. Our guide was very informative and friendly. This cemetery is on a hill and the ground is very uneven. She had us enter the cemetery from the rear and work our way downwards which was a good choice. Due to the physical demands I would only recommend this tour for strong walkers and those who are steady on their feet. A very good tour.

An excellent way to explore Paris' Pere LaChaise with a wonderfully delightful and knowledgeable tour guide. It was awesome, despite the light rain which actually added to the experience. Thanks Viator!

The guide gave us an interesting commentary on the cemetery and the graves of interest to everyone plus some commentary on the surrounding area. She talked about the current events - such as the dispute about Jim Morrison's grave as well as french history which made it more relevant to me. It was a beautiful spring day so we saw Pere LaChaise at its best.
