Versailles Walking Tour with Optional Fountain Show

Paris, France

The chateau and gardens of Versailles are absolute must-sees beyond Paris. You have the option of attending the famous Fountain Show during the summer months. Skip to the front of the general admission line at Versailles!

Begin your day with a guided morning visit of the Great Royal Apartments, Hall of Mirrors and the Queen's Bedroom. Take a leisurely stroll around the Palace Park through some of the "Groves" (in Summer) or a horse-drawn carriage ride (in Winter). Entrance tickets are included for those who would like to visit the Gallery of Battles on their own.

Lunch is served at the restaurant "La Petite Venise" located in the palace park facing the beautiful Grand Canal.

In the afternoon you will continue with a guided visit of the Trianons which are vast mansion style lodges where Louis XV and Louis XVI liked to work and retire from court life. Take a discovery tour of the Queen's Hamlet where from 1783 Marie Antoinette played as a shepherdess.

Versailles Fountain Show Special Program:
April 3rd to October 31st (Saturdays & Sundays) and May 18th to June 29th (Tuesdays). For a selected time you have the option to see the magnificent fountain displays, which reveal the skill and artistry of 3 centuries of French garden design and engineering. The display is accompanied by music composed at the time of Louis XIV's court. Entrance fees are included in the cost of the tour.

This tour is worth seeing. Be warned there will be a lot of walking in case you're not capable of walking on long periods, but other than that, the guide was very informative and knows what they're talking about. We also had a great lunch and this is also included in the tour. I suggest you do this tour if you ever come to Paris. Definitely worth the money!

Excellent tour! Small group and informative and friendly tour guide made the trip both memorable and highly enjoyable. The lunch option was of an excellent standard

I specifically booked the tour for the fountain how, only to be told after lun ch at Versailles that the tour guide was not aware of this and so i again did not get to see the fountain show. I was not impressed.

The tour was not the same as indicated in your promotion. We especially chose the Saturday so that we could see the fountain show. We kept asking the guide about it but he kept fobbing us off. Finally they showed us their booklet and there was no such tour advertised. We were very disappointed and detered from making bookings before we left.

Versaille was amazing but unfortunately we had a really boring tour guide who we could barely understand and who was not in the slightest bit interested in connecting with his group-very disappointing.

The trip to Versailles was excellent value for money, the three course lunch included was excellent. The interpreter in the morning was very good however the one in the afternoon was very poor. I got lost and he had no intrest in stopping to find me, my mother inlaw had to refuse to move another step before he decided to try and find me. His english was hard to understand.

Great trip, enjoyed it very much. The Palace was very crowded. It was difficult to understand what our guide was saying because of his strong French or Spanish accent and faulty mictophone equipment.

Well worth the money we paid for the tour. The bus trip - better than expected, the tour guide great, they could work on improving the lunch. Was up to the standard of a good french lunch.

Our guide had such a strong accent we could not understand him. Everyone in our group agreed that they were having difficulty understanding him. We actually lost him at one point. He actually lost one member of our group and her mother had to demand we return to find her. Despite our inadequate guide, Versailles is amazing and we would have missed some of the gardens if he had not directed us.

Loved this tour, the Palace and it's ground were absolutely amazing. You definitely need the whole day tour and more to take it all in. Our guide was great and very good in making sure that all were accounted for. The lunch was perfect especially after the morning walk. It is a long day of walking so for some it was too much. I did hope that the Company was able to find an interpreter for the family from Italy, it's a lot of money to spend and not have or get the full experience of the Palace.

great tour overall. our guide was very informative, gave lots of good information. only dissappointing part was that we didnt get to walk around Versailles garden, only through it on our way to dinner. Would have like more time to see a bit of the gardens. Dinner was good, maybe took a bit too long, (was a little over an hour) but its my opinion, i would rather see the sights than take a hour lunch! Long lines everywhere at Versailles, but with this tour we moved through them pretty quickly. Good tour for first time to Versailles tourists.

2 years ago we hired your company and was picked up from the hotel by a well informed guide who took care of everthing for us. Loved it. This time we took a group tour and disliked it. The guide was terrible. You could not find her. She had nothing to distinquish her in the crowd and she was VERY unorganized. We had to take a cab back to the hotel.

This tour was excellent! Even my sixteen year old daughter was engaged for the entire day! Our guide was very knowledgeable and took the time to give extra details and interesting facts about The Louis' as well as Marie Antoinette and other nobility of Versailles. My only suggestion would be that if the tour happens on a hot day, as ours did, the guide should build in some rest stops along the way as the walk is extensive. But we thoroughly enjoyed the tour!

We had a wonderful visit. The fountains were working with the music playing. The palace was just beautiful, the gardens looked gorgeous, our lunch was lovely and the venue just right. We walked to the farm and the fruit wasa ripe on the trees and the Theatre was opened during the afternoon and we were able to go in - such an unexpected opportunity. And 1 of the gardeners picked some fruit for us which we ate as we walked. Could it get any better ?

Our guide was very knowledgable. I booked the Saturday date because I wanted to see the Fountain show- -that is what the title says. Our guide told us that there wasn't time and we would need come back another day! Yea, right. I would have preferred the option of exiting her commentary and meeting up with the group after the show.

We had a wonderful guide who was very knowledgeable about Versailles. However, there was A LOT of walking. If you have bad knees or other problems problems walking, skip this one. I don't and I still had difficulty by the end of the tour. Our guide estimated 7 to 8 kilometers (4 to 5 miles) and that is no exaggeration. The tour is wonderful and lunch was very good. I am so glad we got to see the Trianons and Marie Antoinette's hamlet. This is a very enjoyable tour and a great way to see Versailles.

The trip itself was pretty nice. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The main palace at Versailles is a total zoo. You are literally pushed from one room to another. This is not the fault of the tour though, rather just the number of guests in the palace. Lunch was nice, as well as touring the other parts of the grounds.

Great day..lots of walking but you REALLY WANT to! Lunch is AMAZING! Had a great day...would have given 5stars except for the fact that we originally booked a small group tour and ended up having to do a big bus tour because AFTER they had accepted our booking then it wasn't available! We are more small group people rather than massive tour people!

We enjoyed the tour a great deal. Seeing the Grand and Petit Trianons and the Hamlet were worth the time spent at Versailles. The guide was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. It was very crowded but the guide seemed to get us to the things we needed to see effectively. A couple of hiccups - when we arrived at the departure point there was some confusion as to where to go. We were sitting in the agency waiting to be guided to another bus but I think we would have been missed if we didn't go back outside ourselves. Also, some people did not have working headsets. When the place was so crowded, you needed the headset to hear the guide. Finally, Versailles is closed on Mondays and the crowds in the main chateaux are huge on Tuesdays. Go on a different day if possible.

Visiting Versailles was a good trip to make right before our French Revolution Tour. then we we heard how the ordinary people revolted at the wealth of the monarchy we knew exactly what they were talking about. The gardens were spectacular.

Definitely worthwhile. The only criticism is that there should be time alloted for taking pictures of the garden FROM the palace, given that pictures taken at the garden level do not allow a fully detailed view of the beauty of these gardens. Otherwise fantastic. The guide was very knowledgeable.

We had a large tour group so it was difficult navigating the already crowded rooms of the Versailles Palace. The best part of the day was a tour of the gardens. The gardens are truly marvelous. I would have loved to have had a shorter lunch and instead had more time to see the gardens.

Make sure to wear very comfortable and supportive shoes as this tour is a lot of walking. I'm a fairly young dancer, in great shape, and my legs shins and calfs were killing me by the end. I don't know how some of the older tourists in our group did it.

The tour was great! Unfortunately, we lost at least 30 minutes while our guide took care of someone physically unable to take the tour. This was no fault of the tour guide. However, it impacted the amount of time we were able to view the fountains and that was the main reason we took the tour as we had previously been to Versailles.

Our guide was really knowledgeable and quite funny, and the afternoon walk through both trianons was fantastic. Visitors should know that there is significant walking on this trip, and if they need motorized transport, they should request in advance.

The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. He provided very in depth knowledge about each part of the tour. The lunch was good and adequate time was given to eat. However, the afternoon walking tour needed a few short breaks. I would recommend telling everyone ahead of time they would be walking for approx. 3 hours and they might want to bring water with them.

Excellent tour. I would warn elderly people and anyone that has difficulty walking distances of up to 6 miles that they will have difficulty visiting all of the locations on this tour. The experience is well worth the time and effort. The buildings and furnishings give an insight into a period of history that otherwise would be lost to the masses. The level of restoration that has taken place is remarkable! You almost expect to see someone in period costume walk into the room. The afternoon visit to the smaller castles on the property is very interesting, especially the king's summer palace. Worth the time and effort if you like history.

This full day tour was worth every dollar spent! Our tour guide was fabulous, she knew her history and was so fun to listen to! Stay for the full day.
